D'Vorah's Variations

Brood Mother - This Variation gives D'Vorah the ability to launch a crawling minion that locks down her opponent. D'Vorah can then maneuver into close range and attack with relative ease.
Swarm Queen - In this Variation D'Vorah has the ability to summon a wasp tornado, lifting opponents into the air. She can also throw explosive bug bombs. These moves are excellent zoning tactics. Special moves in the Swarm Queen Variation can also be used as combo openers.
Venomous - In this Variation, all of D'Vorah's ovipositor attacks poison the opponent and are highly effective for rushdowns. This Variation also allows for better chip damage and tactically matches up well against strong defensive opponents.

An easy way to get damage with D'Vorah in any variation is her forward 4,4 string.

It pops them up so You can connect it 3 times in a row in the corner and I did connect it 3 times from midscreen maybe a couple times but the timing is sooo tight...

An easy, meterless corner combo that does good damage is Jump in Punch, forward 4,4, three times but cancel the 3rd forward 4,4 into Oviposter Charge. Very easy and very damaging.

What is easy at midsrceen is connecting just two forward 4,4 strings and for the 3rd string, input forward 4,2. It looks pretty cool and creepy. Or you could just do forard 4 canceled into Oviposter Charge for the 3rd rep. Either way you are comboing for 30 percentile damage meterless. It all has to be input pretty fast.

I usually get forward 4,4 to connect twice after a Jump Punch Ground Bounce. Probably best to cancel into Oviposter Charge.

I am a fan of the foward 3,4,1+3 string as an ender because it looks cool and it does 19% damage which is more damage than her string that leads into the air grab, back 1,2, down grab, only does 17% damage but it is easier to land I guess.

You can combo forward 4,4 into forward 3,4,1+3 at midscreen for quick damage that looks cool.

TIP: At Starting distance and max Jump in distance from D'Vorah in Swarm Queen, regular Wasp Grenade has enough stun time for a jump in punch to connect and combo with the grenade. And at Full Screen an EX Wasp Grenade has enough Stun that you have enough time to Run in from full screen and still connect a combo.

My regular bread n butter combos with D'Vorah Swarm Queen from Mid Screen, no corner needed are:

1. Jump in punch, 2,1,2 canceled into the Vortex Swarm, forward 3,4... forward 3,4,1+3 = 34% damage meterless, midscreen.

2. Wasp Grenade, Jump in punch, 2,1,2 canceled into the Vortex Swarm, forward 3,4... forward 3,4,1+3 = 36% damage meterless, midscreen.

3. Ex Wasp grenade, Jump in Punch, 2,1,2 canceled into Vortex Swarm, forward 3,4... forward 3,4,1+3 = 41% damage 1 meter, midscreen.

The next 3 combos are easy versions of the first 3 combos.

4. Jump in punch, 2,1,2 canceled into the Vortex Swarm, Jump punch, forward 3,4,1+3 = 32% damage meterless, midscreen.

5. Wasp Grenade, Jump in punch, 2,1,2 canceled into the Vortex Swarm, Jump Punch, forward 3,4,1+3 = 34% damage meterless, midscreen.

6. Ex Wasp grenade, jump in punch, 2,1,2 canceled into Vortex Swarm, Jump Punch, forward 3,4,1+3 = 39% damage 1 meter, midscreen.

Run Combos from Full Screen are basically the same as the two EX midscreen combos. They require an EX Wasp Grenade:

7. Ex Wasp Grenade, Run, Jump in Punch, 2,1,2 canceled into Vortex Swarm, forward 3,4... forward 3,4,1+3 = 41% damage 1 meter, Full Screen.

8. Ex Wasp grenade, Run, 2,1,2 canceled into Vortex Swarm, forward 3,4... forward 3,4,1+3 = 39% damage 1 meter, Full Screen.

The easier versions of the Full Screen Run Combos:

9. Ex Wasp grenade, Run, Jump in Punch, 2,1,2 canceled into Vortex Swarm, Jump Punch, forward 3,4,1+3 = 39% damage 1 meter, Full Screen.

10. Ex Wasp grenade, Run, 2,1,2 canceled into Vortex Swarm, Jump Punch, forward 3,4,1+3 = 37% damage 1 meter, Full Screen.

The 3 dots... after the forward 3,4... mean wait 1/2 a moment, the opponent is popped over your head just out of reach of the 1+3 ender part of the forward 3,4,1+3 string. So you have a chance to land the whole string again... the only way to make the opponent high enough to accomplish this is by hitting the forward 3 right after the Vortex Swarm lifts the opponent to there max height and before they spiral downward any amount. If the opponent descends any from the max height of the Vortex Swarm you might as well just finish the 1st string of forward 3,4,1+3 because they will not be high enough for the second string to hit.

11. From starting distance rather than jumping in, you can start a 1 meter combo with forward 1,1, cancel into Ex Wasp Grenade, 2,1,2, cancel into Vortex Swarm, 3,4... 3,4,1+3 for 40% damage 1 meter midscreen... you can start with a jump in punch but it only adds 1% more damage.

D'Vorah's quickest string to punish with is her 1,1,B+2. A sample combo for this would be 1,1,B+2~D+1~F+3,4~D+1~F+4,4,Ovipositor Charge. It does 28% making it a great punish for no meter.

D'Vorah's 1,1,3 string ends with an overhead and is 0/+1 on block making it a great string to pressure with and can lead to some good mix-ups. An example of a mix-up off this would be doing 1,1,3, on block and pushing D+1 or grab (D+1 if you think they'll try to poke and grab if you think they'll block)

D'Vorah has a great meaty low set-up off her B+2,1,Into Vortex Swarm in her Swarm Queen Variation. You can end combos like this to catch your opponent off gaurd and get another combo.

A great video demonstrating her combo potential and that meaty low set-up can be seen here - https://youtu.be/fUtHNAwBiDw

These move lists they way setup is garbage

wingliger posted April 24, 2015

This goes all characters. When trying to punish attacks, if you use a normal move it will come out 1 frame later because recovery from blocking is 1 frame. So trying to punish a move that is -6 will mean you need an attack with 5 frame startup unless its a special attack. Special attacks start up normally because they are reversals.
