Cassie Cage's Variations

Hollywood - Cassie Cage takes after her father, Johnny, in the Hollywood Variation. She gains the ability to batter foes with her father's trademark low blow attack and certain attack strings recreate some of Johnny's classic special moves. Hollywood also adds an air gunshot special move to Cassie's arsenal.
Brawler - The Brawler Variation adds a grappler-esque flair to Cassie Cage. In Brawler, Cassie gains two grounded command throws: a tackle and an arm breaker. She can also perform an air throw that can be used in air-to-air situations or in combos.
Spec Ops - In Spec Ops, Cassie can call in an air strike, summoning homing drones to attack her opponent. These drones can be fired at different ranges on screen and the Meter Burn version will track her foe. Additionally, Cassie can perform a special salute taunt while in this Variation for an added insult to injury.

Cassie does have a glow kick. It just goes straight up in the air and can be meter burned. Its just not effective as her getaway flip.

Cassie is currently one of the most powerful characters in the game in my opinion. (Opinions vary from her being the best in the game, to her being balanced in the middle fairly).

The main moves I recommend looking at are
Elbow Smash (back1) - main poke/whiff punish tool, VERY good move
Hard Sell (back12 string) - part of Elbow Smash's utility
Active Duty (back124 string) - another part of Elbow Smash's utility

Low Heel (down3) - another good footsie tool

Heel Plunge (f3) and Fancy Footwork (f33) - part of her overhead mixup
Kick Abuse (d+f1) - part of her low mixup

Getaway Flip (down back 2) - pretty much the most important special for her combos. and probably the most important move for her combos period.

And then her Variation specific moves. Hollywood's Air Akimbo and Nut Kracker, Spec Ops' American Way and Air Assault. Not sure about Brawler's uses currently.

I believe Cassie's brawler variation is over looked. You can end juggle combos with Forward2,1+3(throw) for a restand that leaves her with +1 advantage. On top of her already strong mix up game, you gain access to her Take down(bf3) which hits overhead and is cancellable from most strings!

So you can do things like Kick Abuse(d+f1) and cancel the gun shot which hits low, into take down for a low-overhead string if your opponent anticipates and blocks your low starter. She can also cancel it from Heel Plunge (f3), which will give you a double overhead string. This move also leaves you at a distance for both her Heel Plunge and Kick Abuse to hit again so it gives her somewhat of a vortex. The only downside to it is that it is -20 on block, so it is very high risk.

She also gains Bow Breaker(DBF2) which is a command throw. So if all of your offensive efforts are being thwarted you have an option to open the opponent back up. If you have the corner, this will throw them back out. However, no one's saying you can't use it to throw them right back in the corner again! Once you get the timing down for her mid-screen combos corner carrying won't be a big deal.

To go along with her great juggle strings, Cassie has Air Power Slam(D+Throw in the air) in this variation. So you can anti-air, end combos, or even extend combos with this move. The enhanced version causes a bounce so you can get a little more damage out of your combos and anti-airs.

Brawler may not have the same damage output and reset potential as Hollywood. It definitely doesn't have the set up game that Spec Ops carries. However, it is a solid option for a character that is definitely strong any way you decide to play her.

Cassie is a fast character with plenty of safe attacks if the opponent likes to block. Her Around We Go (2,4,2) and Street Smart (Forward+4,4) combos are safe if the opponent blocks and knock the opponent into the air for a combo follow-up if they hit. While Around We Go starts with a high attack, both are great combos to use because they can lead to easy juggle opportunities.

The Caged Rage combo (Back+2,1,2, Down+1+2) starts high, but has very good reach and goes into an immediate low attack that can catch people off-guard. The final hit of the combo is an overhead, and while there's a delay, your opponents won't be able to interrupt the attack.

Fancy Footwork (Forward+3,3) is also a good combo that starts with an overhead attack, followed by a low attack and then a variation of Johnny Cage's Shadow Kick. It can be difficult for many players to block, but you can also cancel the first attack into the Getaway Flip to launch the opponent. You can even mix this up with Kick Abuse (Diagonal Down-Forward+1) for a low/overhead mix-up that forces your opponent to block one way or the other. While Fancy Footwork is safe against most characters if it's blocked, Kick Abuse can be punished, so use it sparingly.

Has the most silly fatality, the Selfie. v>v<4.

Corner: Jump in 1, 2,4,2, neutral jump 2, juggle 2, backflip kick, x-ray.
40%, so it's not optimal, but mix up potential along this combo makes for many, many variations. Fun to play with.

Her takedown move is a great finisher for bread and butter combos.

This goes all characters. When trying to punish attacks, if you use a normal move it will come out 1 frame later because recovery from blocking is 1 frame. So trying to punish a move that is -6 will mean you need an attack with 5 frame startup unless its a special attack. Special attacks start up normally because they are reversals.

In the Hollywood variation for Cassie you can instant air gunshot by inputting Up then back forward 1 to shoot through Sub-Zero's Ice Clone and hit him at the same time. You can also EX Gun Shot to do this in the other variations as well.

Cassie's B+1,2,4 String is 0/+1 on block meaning you can use that to create some great mix-ups. It also has an amazing reach making me believe it is one of if not the best string in the game. A great example of a mix-up after Cassie's B+1,2,4 string would be doing a D+1, which is 6 frames and +12 on hit (You would do this if you think you opponent would try to poke back or jump), or doing her forwards grab or back grab which both come out in 9 frames and cause a hard knock down (You could also do her Bow Breaker if you're in her Brawler Variation).

Getaway Flip and the string 2,4,2 are cassie's best punishers at close range as they both have a 6 frame start-up and lead into full combo.

A great far range punish or whiff punisher for Cassie would be her B+1,2,Geteaway Flip as it reaches far, comes out in 11 frames and leads into full combo.

PS: I've never had an Arcade stick and I really want one lol

You can use Cassie's EX Glow Kick to punish an opponent throwing a projectile if timed right. If the EX Glow Kick lands you can get a full combo. A sample combo you can use for this in the Brawler variation is EX Glow Kick,2,4,2~F+2,4,Getaway Flip,Run,F+2,4,Takedown.

Bubble Head (Fatality 1) - Forward, Down, Back, Forward, 1 (Mid-Screen)
Selfie (Fatality 2) - Down, Forward, Down, Back, 4 (Close)
Between The Eyes (Brutality 1) - With over 50 percent health, kill the opponent with Single Shot (Back, Forward+1) from a single jump distance away (about three character lengths).
Hat's Off (Brutality 2) - Do not low a round during the match, then kill the opponent with Kick Abuse (Diagonal Down-Forward+1) and hold Up before the third hit in Kick Abuse.
Pop Goes (Brutality3) - In the Hollywood variation, hit four Nut Krackers (Back, Down+3) during the match, then kill the opponent with a Nut Kracker.
Beat Down (Brutality 4) - In the Brawler variation, kill the opponent with a three-hit combo that ends with Take Down (Back, Forward, 3).
Half Day (Brutality 5) - In the Spec Ops variation, use The American Way taunt (Down, Back+1) five times during the match, then kill the opponent with Target Paint (Down, Down+1+Block) from a single jump distance away.

Cassie cage is an aggressive rushdown character who has excellent high/low mix ups but, to master the core of Cassie's combo game one must be able to run cancel. For starters it is usually easiest to use her Brawler variation as it has the most efficient way of dealing damage.

Cassie doesnt have "glow kick" as a special. The shadow kick is only used at the end of a combo string. They said that during the last kombat kast....

Cassie is broken as hell. She has a quick as combo which is a over head into low into a glow kick. This needs to be nerfed right now. Offline and online it is hard as hell to block and its easy as hell to do. All people do is spam online until she gets you into a corner were it is almost impossible to get out of. She needs a nerf immediately.
