John Rambo was among the last of the additions to Mortal Kombat 11's cast as he joined the roster on November 17, 2020 as part of Kombat Pack 2.
The famous action movie character joins the likes of Terminator and RoboCop for Mortal Kombat 11's exciting 80's action heroes guest theme, and feels perfectly in place in the violent and gory atmosphere of Mortal Kombat.
Rambo appears as he did in the first Rambo film, donning a black headband, black tank top, black jeans, and an arrow filled quiver on his back (also black). He carries his famous Jimmy Lile knife at all times.
True to his nature in the films, Rambo is all about traps and space control in his MK11 appearance. He gets decent bursts of damage with many of his far reaching specials such as his whip and snare traps. He has a versatile projectile in his bow as he can hold his shots before launching them, and he can ultimately play a very slow and methodical game to test foes' patience.
His strings have Flawless Block gaps, his neutral doesn't measure up to most of his roster mates', and he doesn't have any particularly stand out pressure options once he's in your face.
As cool as he is, Rambo is in the running for being the worst character in Mortal Kombat 11, competitively speaking. He is often ranked in the bottom three on professional tier lists, and it's not uncommon to see him placed dead last.
You don't play this character to win tournaments, but you do play him to have some nostalgic fun. Trapping people with Rambo's specials is unlike most anything else in the game, and the way developers designed him makes you really feel like you're controlling the epic hero... in the world of Mortal Kombat, no less.
