Geras is a brand new character introduced in Mortal Kombat 11. He's part of the base roster and thus has been playable since game's release back on April 23, 2019.
An immortal servant of Kronika with the ability to manipulate the sands of time, Geras has the ability to recover from virtually any wound, including fatal ones. He has technically died thousands of times, but recovered, making him an incredibly refined being both physically and intellectually.
He has dark skin and bright blue eyes that glow. He has a few pieces of chain mail armor, but has a widely exposed upper torso. His body exhibits cracks from which the same glowing light we see in his eyes emanates.
Geras utilizes special attacks like Quick Sand, Shifting Sands, and Sand Simulacrum. Such specials allow Geras to create traps and obstacles on the battle field, as well as teleport around it. His command grab pairs extremely well with his strings, which are above average in terms of utility.
Geras likes to be at ranges where he's far enough that his Quick Sand attack is not punishable, or close enough where his string starters do not whiff. He is at his weakest when opponents' strings push him to this distance, something that can often happen on block.
Pro players tend to rank Geras in Mortal Kombat 11's second to highest tier. He is well rounded and can play in both defensive and offensive gears, but there are a handful of characters who tend to be even more effective. It's usually safe to say Kronika's right hand man is a top 15-20 option in MK11.
As one of the most interesting and effective newcomers for Mortal Kombat 11, Geras is a great pick for those who like to brawl, pull off especially exciting combos, and who don't mind slowing things down and pestering from a distance from time to time.
