Fujin joined Mortal Kombat 11 as part of the Aftermath expansion that rolled out on May 26, 2020. This marked his first playable appearance in 14 years as his last was in 2006's Mortal Kombat Armageddon.
The god of wind made his initial appearance in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, which released on August 31, 1997, but wasn't actually playable until later that same year when Mortal Kombat 4 dropped on October 15, 1997.
Fujin has slicked back white hair, pupil-less eyes, and dons black and gold armor with green pants. He also has a glowing tattoo of his namesake on his shoulder and brown gauntlets with golden highlights that match his armor.
Raiden's brother exceeds at space control and maneuverability in Mortal Kombat 11. He achieves this through long range footsie tools, strong anti airs, and some of the best mobility in the game thanks to his Sky Walk and Wave Dash abilities. Opponents will often find themselves making risky moves in attempts to keep up with Fujin's positioning abilities, and this is where he can take advantage and dole out the pain.
Fujin is at his weakest if and when a foe does manage to get up in his face as his close range buttons are not as effective as those of many other roster mates'. Though his anti airs are great for routine jump ins, characters with augmented air mobility (like Jacqui Briggs or Fujin himself) can give Fujin trouble as his attempts to swat them from the skies can be foiled.
The sum of Fujin's strengths and weaknesses add up to an exceedingly strong competitive character. The god of wind is a contender for top five in MK11's tier rankings, and is rarely placed out of the top 10 in pro player tier lists. This is a testament to just how important maneuverability and space control tend to be in this game.
Players who take on this character should expect to be relatively active as they simultaneously juggle their own quick movements while trying to accurately predict opponents' plans of attack. It may take a bit longer than average to gain bearing with Fujin, but the rewards are great for those who do as he is one of the best picks in all of Mortal Kombat 11.
