Morrigan and Anita Marvel vs. Capcom Origins character profiles

Capcom-Unity has updated once again with new character profiles for Marvel vs. Capcom Origins. Today's set is all about Darkstalkers, featuring bios both for Morrigan and Donovan's little companion Anita.

Morrigan

First appearance: Darkstarlkers: The Night Warriors (1994)
MvCO appearances: Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes

I get to talk about Morrigan?! What a responsibility! Well, I probably don’t need to say much since she’s definitely a fan favorite and everyone on the internet knows about her. After all, there are probably 2 or 3 Capcom games that she HASN’T been in; lol. In all seriousness, she has a huge game portfolio. She’s been around in every Darkstalkers game, since the very first one, and managed to show up in nearly every Versus game with Capcom. Heck, she even made her way into Cross Edge! And, there are "Morrigan outfits" in We Love Golf! and the Japan-only Monster Hunter Frontier Online.

So, Morrigan Aensland is to Darkstalkers as Ryu is to Street Fighter. She's always the one to represent the Darkstalkers series in other games, but unfortunately she's never been considered Top-tier by most people. Although...... in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, we've seen stuff like THIS. Call it "lame" if you want, but please make it to the EVO Semi-Finals before you say anything else, ok? ;)

Check out Anita's bio over on Capcom-Unity.

Dead or Alive 5 Mila and Rig command training, gameplay footage and a run down through the fighting system

GameSpot's Maxwell McGee sent in some Dead or Alive 5 first impressions of the two new characters, Mila and Rig. Both write ups are accompanied by command training and gameplay footage.

Also, GameSpot AU's community manager, Zorine Te, sits down with Daniel "Berzerk" Chlebowczyk to run through Dead or Alive 5's systems.

As an MMA fighter, Mila is a hybrid character who combines quick strikes with grapples. The crux of her arsenal is the takedown, a diving tackle that pins opponents to the ground. From this position, she can follow up with either a trio of punches to the head or an arm-snapping hold. However, what makes the takedown such a crucial technique is not the follow-ups, but the execution.

Several moves will lead into, or can be canceled into, the takedown. One of these is the switch step. Performed by pressing crouching diagonal away plus hold and kick, switch step begins by having Mila take a step away from her opponent. From here you have three options: she will automatically follow up with a low kick, which can be chained into three punches; you can cancel the low kick by pressing hold, leaving Mila a step away from her opponent; or you can press throw to cancel into a takedown.

Hit the jump to see the Rig command training, and the 45 minute Now Playing demo with Daniel "Berzerk" Chlebowczyk.
