Wednesday Night Fights to host Persona 4: Arena starting August 8th

Wednesday Night Fights to host Persona 4: Arena starting August 8th Starting at next week's Wednesday Night Fights, they will be running Persona 4: Arena tournaments. They will first have an exhibition series of matches then stream both the Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012 and the Persona 4: Arena tournaments.

Same rules as in most tournaments with the addition of No Unlimited Characters.

Shortly after the post was made on their website a message from their Twitter stated that even though they are running P4A they will not be dropping any games from WNF.

To clear up some confusion, none of our #WNFAE titles are being dropped. P4A will make its debut just like all new released FGs we showcase.

Master Rodriguez: If there were to ever be a vs. type game for Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter is the best fit

Master Rodriguez: If there were to ever be a vs. type game for Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter is the best fit Eurogamer.it recently conducted an interview with veteran DOA player Emmanuel "MASTER" Rodriguez to discuss the latest E3 build of Dead or Alive 5. Master gives his thoughts on plenty of topics including how the Virtua Fighter characters fit into Dead or Alive 5, the importance of Danger Zones, some of the new game mechanics and more.

Below is a bit from the article.

What do you think about the Virtua Fighters? Are they ok with the DoA’s fighting system? I mean... Akira has reversal moves into his original game, but characters like Sarah have to heavy change their way of playing.

I think Virtua Fighter characters work perfectly with DOA. I remember telling Team Ninja along with other players in Japan that if there were to ever be a VS type game for DOA that Virtua Fighter is the best fit. DOA comes from same system VF was built on and uses the same buttons and shortcuts. I think SEGA and TEAM Ninja have done a great job combining and bringing in these fighters together. As for how the Virtua Fighter characters will play, that may not change much as far as inputs. Adding reversals to a character, I assume, isn’t too difficult. However fighting against any opponent that has them may be the real difference here. Something you may try to abuse with Sarah in VF may not be as abusable anymore since any opponent has the potential to read you and put you in a reversal for becoming predictable. It will be interesting to see how some VF players adapt to that change on top of a different stun system that DOA offers.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 matches between exceptional Shuma-Gorath player Play-doh and Insult to Injury

Deadlybison uploaded a very hype set of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 matches between Play-doh and Insult to Injury. Play-doh runs the unusual team of Shuma-Gorath, Taskmaster and Akuma while Insult to Injury chooses Dormammu, Sentinel and Wesker.

It's quite rare to find a player using Shuma-Gorath but Play-doh does a great job showing off the potential this character retains and displays some great pressure strings, combos and more.

Koogy and Turbovec over at Brokentier posted simple character guides for Persona 4 Arena that give an overview of each character, pros and cons, the main objective each character hopes to achieve with their play-style and they even provide video examples for each character. Below is an example of how each guide is set up and be sure check out the rest of the cast by heading to Brokentier's article.

Yu "the Hero" Narukami

Pros:
+ Long range normals, great for spacing and pressure at medium range.
+ Excellent oki and mixup utilizing his Persona.
+ Capable of high damage combos

Cons:
- Not the greatest at long range/full screen.

Goal:
Stay at medium range until you land a hit, then cause a knockdown and then mixup with Persona attacks.

Yu in this video sticks to the knockdown + Persona oki tactic, forcing the Labrys to take damage just to escape the situation.

High level players to look out for:
Kasumi LOVE
