HD Remix coming in November?

HD Remix coming in November? An astute reader noticed that Capcom may have revealed the month Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo will be released in a recent post on the Unity website.

The quote states: "... in anticipation of the game (HD Remix) finally coming in November!"

Would be nice to have an official day, but it looks like we're getting much closer to its release.

Gamespot HD Remix tournament video part 2

Gamespot.com uploaded part 2 of their HD Remix tournament footage. It has several interviews with the players there, and more of Gamespot's cheesy dialogue.

There's a few matches with some really scrubby play — and then there's Graham Wolfe — who still happens to be really freaking good, and handily beats his opponent in the last clip.

Check out the pre-game interview starting at about 8:17 where Graham does a nice job of understating his skills, and then goes head to head with some guy that's never played in a tournament before... You can guess what happens next.

More SFIV/HD Remix promotional events in the works

More SFIV/HD Remix promotional events in the works Christian Svensson threw in a few words on the Capcom-Unity boards informing the community that there will be more promotional events (Street Fighter Clubs?) in the future.

While Street Fighter IV is still roughly 4-6 months off, most are assuming HD Remix will be released some time in November.

Doesn't give them a lot of time to host multiple big events, so I'm curious if we'll see a bunch of smaller ones where fans get a chance to have a hands on with the games.

Street Fighter IV joystick hands-on impressions

Street Fighter IV joystick hands-on impressions Gamemanx.com posted a brief hands on with the Mad Catz SF4 joystick, which has a rather... interesting video.

Most of the people I heard from who used this stick at the recent Street Fighter Club thought it was a great stick, and with Seth Killian overseeing the project, it sounds like it's helped Mad Catz up their game.

Here's a blurb from the article.

The most notable thing about the joystick itself was the slant. The area where you would rest your wrist is slanted downward making the joystick more comfortable and ergonomic. It's noticeable right off the bat and is a great design choice.

The joystick had recessed start and select buttons on the back and the art on the joystick was good I guess but nothing to flip out about though who knows that may change as the joystick could have been a prototype so much could be subject to change. The slanted front design alone makes this Street Fighter IV Joystick one to watch.

Producer hopes to make more Street Fighter films

Producer hopes to make more Street Fighter films Collider.com sat down with Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li's producter Ashok Amritraj for an interview.

He discusses how things have turned out, and why he's optimistic for the upcoming release. He also goes on to say if this film is successful enough he'd like to do separate movies about Ken and Ryu. Interesting read.

Here's a clip from the interview.

About how many characters in total do you take from the game? Like 8 to 10? 12? And also you mentioned that if it’s successful you’re going to move on to Ryu and Ken.

Ashok: Chun Li, Bison, Balrog, Vega, Maya, Cantana I think have shown up in parts of the video game but are not major characters. They’re minor characters; at least that’s what Capcom says to me. I don’t follow it to the minutia… and then there’s Gen. So 7 or 8 characters.

Okay so assuming it does well at the box office is this the kind of thing you’d want to move right into doing another “Street Fighter” movie?

Ashok: I would love to. Yeah, yeah. Absolutely. I would like to do the Ryu and Ken stories. Again everything is always tied to the performance.

Rumor: Street Fighter 4 release Feb. 27, 2009 in Australia

Rumor: Street Fighter 4 release Feb. 27, 2009 in Australia Kotaku has an interesting write up discussing why they think Street Fighter 4 will be released on Feb. 27th in Australia.

Apparently they spoke with the company Red Ant, who distributes Capcom's titles in the Australian market and they confirmed the date.

As of Sunday at 2:20 p.m. Pacific time, a search on Red Ant's website didn't turn up anything, so it's hard to know what to think.

There's been a variety of release dates thrown around for the U.S. release, and it wasn't that long ago that Kotaku posted a rumor that SFIV would be out during this holiday season.

The February 27th release date makes sense, because it's the same day that Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li movie is supposed to hit theaters. But when all is said and done, everything is probably best taken with a grain of salt until Capcom makes it official.

New York Street Fighter Club recap

New York Street Fighter Club recap Noticed over on Capcom-Unity that they quite a few photos and recaps from attendees of the latest Street Fighter club that was held in New York.

If you're at all interested in how this event went, you're not going to find better details any where else. Here's a quick copy and paste.

Street Fighter Club BLEW UP Brooklyn last night. Were you there? Over 300 of the East Coast's biggest Street Fighter fans turned up at Chief Bodega in Brooklyn to be treated to a storefront outfitted with an awesome array of phoney Street Fighter products, two secret basements filled with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Street Fighter IV, free pizza 'n sodas and (from all accounts) an excellent dj.

There were even some minor celeb sightings, including the producer of Street Fighter Devotion.com and Mike Fass, who played Zangief on College Humor's Street Fighter: The Later Years.

Seth is still groggily recovering in Manhattan, but we'll get a full behind-the-scenes report up for you on Monday.

Tons of new HD Remix YouTube videos

Tons of new HD Remix YouTube videos Nydrin has uploaded 24 new videos of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix matches from the Street Fighter Club in New York.

Also Zeruel99 posted a handful of videos as well.

Although this is shaky cam footage, it's not that bad of quality, and it gives you the chance to get a look at how some of the matches are shaping up.

Good stuff.

And... early word from the SFC participants is that the Mad Catz Street Fighter IV sticks are great.

Preview: HD Remix will be worth the wait

Preview: HD Remix will be worth the wait Kotaku.com wrote up a very nice preview of SSF2T HD Remix that covers the following...
  • They're looking at releasing it in November, but they also said "before Christmas." :P
  • It will cost more than $10 dollars in the online store.
  • One of the biggest hurdles was re-doing the artwork.
This is a great read, so make sure you check it out. Here's a clip.

“On one of the FTP’s some of the art leaked out and everyone was ‘Oh my God, look how bad this art is!’” Killian said. “We responded to it on our blog saying the bad news is, yes this is actually the art from the game, but the good news is we know it’s (crappy), and it’s so (crappy) we actually fired the company before it leaked.”

So how does it play? Well, it’s Street Fighter, but it looks great on a HDTV. Everything is crisp and clean looking. They’ve refined the gameplay a bit by making some of the moves easier to pull off. Not much else to say other than you have to see it for yourself. There are some fun options, too, like being able to turn on the hit boxes or play the non-HD version of the game.

Sakura Street Fighter IV TGS trailer

Sakura Street Fighter IV TGS trailer The Tokyo Game Show trailer featuring Sakura was posted on the Japanese SF4 website today.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Wii arcade stick

Spotted over on the Capcom-Unity blog that they've posted the first image of the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Wii arcade stick.

Here's how it looks and a little blurb from the page.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Wii arcade stick

Exar is releasing a new Wii Arcade Stick! It's branded with a sweet Tatsunoko vs Capcom design. Besides that, this stick will be fantastic. Exar was responsible for the awesome Neo Geo Arcade Stick. These are releasing in Japan for around $67, and hit shelves December 11th.

Chun Li and Sakura to get new faces in Street Fighter 4

Chun Li and Sakura to get new faces in Street Fighter 4 According to a translation by La Capone on the SRK boards, the official SF4 blog noted that Chun Li and Sakura's faces will be changed for the console release of Street Fighter IV.

Some fans have complained that Sakura looks too young considering the Street Fighter timeline, so it will be interesting to see how these characters end up looking in the final release.
