Evolution of the Raging Demon

Shadosw4 compiled this clip showing the evolution of the Raging Demon in various Street Fighter games. Nothing earth shaking here, but it's cool to look back at some of the older more cheesy entries that had the Street Fighter license.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is 33% off on XBox Live this week While most of the people reading this have probably already picked up this game, if you know someone who's been on a fence, now is a good time to tell them that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is 33% off on XBox Live all this week.

Normally the game is 1200 MS points ($15) and it's reduced to 800 ($10).

Also, if you retweet this Capcom-Unity story on Twitter, you'll be entered to win a rare Marvel vs. Capcom 2 vinyl of the soundtrack.

Microsoft to kill online play for original Xbox games

Microsoft to kill online play for original Xbox games Microsoft is going to kill online play for original Xbox games on April 15, 2010. This will include such titles as Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, which has Street Fighter 3 Third Strike and Hyper Street Fighter 2.

Online play will no longer function even if you own an Xbox 360, as this will remove the ability to play these titles online even if they're backwards-compatible discs.

Many players have already moved on to other places for these games like GGPO and Supercade (formally 2DF), which offer a better online experience, but this move should migrate the rest of the fans who were still hanging on.

Microsoft stated that this move will provide a great benefit to the Xbox Live community going forward, although they didn't say exactly what this will be.

Justin Wong vs. Daigo from Seasons Beatings 4

Justin Wong and Daigo Umehara's First to 10 Street Fighter IV set at Seasons Beatings 4 wasn't streamed and video of it hadn't surfaced until recently.

Rodney pointed out this clip which has a solid portion of the matches from a shaky camera setup.
In case you missed Seasons Beatings 4 back when it happened in October, you can find the results here.

VGChartz: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom 6th best seller in America last week Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars had a strong showing in America during its opening week, according to VGChartz.com. Capcom's latest vs. game secured the 6th overall sales spot in the U.S.A.

Also, we know from an earlier story that TvC was the 6th best selling Wii title in the United Kingdom.

Unfortunately, the game didn't reach the top 10 for Japan and Worldwide audiences, but it moved a collective 103,670 units around the globe.

All things considered, it sounds like TvC had a solid opening week. To give you an idea of how it stacked up with the other games, here are the top 10 video game sales in the U.S.A. through January 30th.

1. Mass Effect 2 — 701,698
2. MAG: Massive Action Game — 198,967
3. Wii Sports — 181,210

Melty Blood wins Evo poll, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 replaces BlazBlue

Melty Blood wins Evo poll, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 replaces BlazBlue Melty Blood won the Players Choice poll for the Evo 2010 tournament, and BlazBlue was dropped from the lineup in favor of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on the PlayStation 3.

While Street Fighter 3 Third Strike had some very vocal and passionate fan support, it failed to garner enough votes to be a tournament game this year.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom wave dash glitch

Nyoronoru noted that Smurvis discovered a dash glitch bug in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars that lets you extend your dash to huge lengths, i.e. perform a wave dash, this video doesn't have any sound.
Multiple people have said you can pull this off by doing a toward, toward and then up-toward tap on the joystick, but you have to let the joystick return to neutral each time. So, it'd be toward, neutral, toward, neutral, up-toward, neutral.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 pulled in $4.2 million in 2009 on XBox Live Arcade

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 pulled in $4.2 million in 2009 on XBox Live Arcade According to the new research group, Forecasting and Analyzing Digital Entertainment, the re-release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 grossed $4.2 million on XBox Live Arcade.

This is a pretty nice number considering it's not factoring in the game's simultaneous release on the PlayStation 3 and that it was a rehashed title which didn't require a full development cycle.

Capcom has said a few times that MvC2 had an impressive performance as far as sales went, and these numbers certainly back that up.

With these kinds of figures, you can bet we'll be seeing more re-releases in the future. Here's how the top 10 played out for 2009.

1. Battlefield 1943 - $12.5 million ($15.00)
2. Castle Crashers - $7.3 million ($15.00)
3. Trials HD - $7.1 million ($15.00)
4. Shadow Complex - $6.1 million ($14.38)
5. Family Game Night - $4.2 million ($9.53)
6. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - $4.2 million ($15.00)
7. Magic: The Gathering - $2.8 million ($10.00)
8. Worms 2 - $1.8 million ($10.00)
9. Peggle - $1.8 million ($8.86)
10. Turtles in Time: Reshelled - $1.7 million ($10.00)

Hello everyone!

There were a lot of people at the Kansai Qualifer last week, and it was really exciting! Oh, and someone who had come from Hiroshima gave me some momiji manju (meat buns). I was really happy. And they were very delicious! Thanks for the treat.

Well, we're at the point where its really cold, with some snowfall even. In this cold weather, as I was checking the DVD menus and booklets that come with the Collectors Package, I was able to get some good leaked info from the e-Capcom staff Ms. Kana Urazawa and Mr. Mini Suke!

Sven: SF1 HDR interesting, but other stuff more in demand

Sven: SF1 HDR interesting, but other stuff more in demand Capcom V.P., Christian Svensson, had a few ideas pitched to him on the Unity Boards, which he responded to. Here's everything.

Is there any chance of making a Street Fighter 1 HD Remix?

Like a total overhaul. Not to be able to just use Ryu and Ken, but also to be able to use other characters as well, like Retsu.

Sven: Interesting idea but I think there would be other more "in demand" opportunities for us to try first.

The first Street Fighter was a) really, really hard b) not that solid a design and c) not terribly popular. To change what you'd need to change to actually be reasonably well accepted, it probably wouldn't be Street Fighter anymore.

Will Capcom make a Hanna Barbera fighting game? This studio did The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons, Jonny Quest, Space Ghost and The Smurfs, it could make for an awesome fighting game.

Sven: Agreed, that would be cool actually. I'm not sure how it would resonate with today's 14-22 [age] set though. Mind you, we picked even older, more obscure Japanese anime characters for a versus game so who knows. :)
