Mega Man Universe announced, Ryu possibly playable

While this isn't directly fighting game related, Capcom announced a new title this morning, Mega Man Universe. Here's the trailer.

It appears that Ryu is a playable character in this game and also a Darkstalkers cabinet is shown too, so it's possible some of the fighters from that series will be selectable as well.

More details will be made available at Comic-Con next week, until then you can find additional notes here.

EVO 2010 b-roll montage by Richard Li

Richard Li shot and edited this video, with some help, showing a bit of what EVO has to offer.

Here's what Richard had to say about the clip.

EVO 2010 took place at Caesar's Palace, a fancy pants casino and hotel in Las Nevada, where thousands of fighting game fans attended the annual tournament hosted by Shoryuken.com. For three days, players competed across several games including Super Street Fighter 4, all trying to get out of their pools. I, while waiting for my turn, shot some b-roll around the ballroom, aided by friend Ray, who also filmed with my other camera.

What you see here is a collection of footage gathered in two days: the start of the tourney and the end of the tourney. Highlights include Daigo signing his autograph on a lady's chest at the Mad Catz booth, sitting and filming amongst the crowd, and capturing the intense, exciting moments near the stage during the Super Street Fighter 4 grand finals.

Thanks to GCLeague and Suppi for pointing this out.

RedRapper did a bunch of intros before the Top 8 finals were played at EVO 2010. Here are links to what he put together.

GamerBee gets national TV exposure in Taiwan after EVO

Taiwanese player GamerBee, the infamous Adon player who finished 5th overall at EVO, and eliminated Justin Wong from the tournament, received national TV exposure when he returned home.
Although this is in another language, it's pretty awesome for any of the players in the community to get this kind of exposure.

If you want to go further, there's a nice little recap here written by Protocol Snow, which goes a bit more in-depth — and it's written in English.

Capcom staff members explain why Tatsunoko vs. Capcom was made

Capcom staff members explain why Tatsunoko vs. Capcom was made Capcom employees, Christian Svensson and Seth Killian visited the Unity Boards to offer a little insight into Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and why it was made, along with fielding questions on if there are any future plans for DLC.

Also, they briefly talk about Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and if any more fighting games might see the light of day on the Wii.

Why did Capcom choose to make a Tatsunoko vs. game when there are so many other franchises out there that they could have teamed up with? [Conspiracy and other loony theories edited out.]

Sven: Really, the explanation is that a few key people in Japan R&D being Tatsunoko fans. They grew up with those characters and they resonated for them. They managed to make a business case for a Japan-only release and subsequent to that we worked hard to include the West.

It's nothing complex or nefarious or business related or even well thought out. It's a passion project.

Is Tatsunoko vs. Capcom the only fighting game that the Wii will have or are you guys bringing other ones to that platform and keeping it a secret?

Sven: I can't shed more light at this time. Sorry to be so evasive. :-X

Image shows trailer for new Street Fighter game?

Capcom's Yoshinori Ono added a new photo to his Twitter account that might be the first offering concerning the big fighting game announcement he's planning on making at Comic-Con, which takes place from July 22-25.

On the left hand side, you can see Ryu, and on the right it appears to be ink swirls that were so commonly shown with the Street Fighter 4 series trailers. Ono said he was working on a clip to show at Comic-Con, and this is very likely a sneak preview of it.

Also, Yoshinori will be speaking on the Street Fighter panel at Comic-Con, and the itinerary might offer some clue as to what he plans on announcing at the show. It reads:

12:00-1:00 Street Fighter Mania!: SSFIV and Beyond! — Producer Super Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono shares his thoughts on SSFIV and presents his exciting vision for the future of the franchise. Experience why everyone can’t get enough of Street Fighter! Featuring Seth Killian, Street Fighter special adviser. Followed by a Q&A session. Room 25ABC

All signs are pointing at another fighting game title from Capcom, involving the Street Fighter characters in some way, on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, considering that both controllers are shown. And if the ink swirls are any indication — likely another game in the Street Fighter 4 series.

Kudos to whitey_deluca for contributing to this story.

Ono: Something big coming in two weeks

Ono: Something big coming in two weeks Yoshinori Ono stated at EVO 2010 that he'll be announcing something in two weeks that should get people very excited. He said this new project will be coming in about a year.

Since Ono made this announcement at EVO, it's extremely likely that it's fighting game related and he said previously that Super Street Fighter 4 is nothing compared to what's coming.

He apparently also said that it's not Capcom vs. SNK 3 or a DarkStalkers sequel, though.

During his speech at EVO, Ono went on to add that Street Fighter 4 won't stop — since the arcade version is coming — he paused there, but said he couldn't say any more.

In about two weeks, Comic-Con is taking place, and Ono mentioned he might have a trailer of the game to show at that convention.

Fireball and style exhibition videos from SonicHurricane

Maj at SonicHurricane.com uploaded two of the videos he helped put together and you might have possibly seen on the EVO live stream.
