EVO Online's decision to limit open tournaments to titles with great netcode is a bold message to fighting game developers

When news first dropped that EVO 2020 was cancelled and EVO Online would be taking its place, the FGC's immediate concern jumped to how the mainstage games would hold up considering none of them are known for their strong netplay capabilities.

The organizers behind EVO essentially side-stepped that issue completely, however, this week when they announced that none of those titles would be part of the open tournaments for EVO Online with those honors going instead to four fighting games championed by the community for their netcode prowess.

Update: Kichipa-mu releases revised Zangief match up chart for Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition

Update: Kichipa-mu has gone back and revised his Zangief match up chart for Street Fighter 5 to be a bit more serious where he now lists nine fighters who he feels has at least some advantage over the grappler.

Original Story: Zangief's road through Street Fighter 5 has been quite the roller coaster for players with his inferred strength changing drastically between seasons multiple times, but many in the Japanese community believe him to be among the best in Season 5.

Hiroki "AZ Laplace|Kichipa-mu" Asano recently released his Zangief match up chart for Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition which seems to be in agreement with those from his scene considering he only lists four unfavorable fighters for the grappler.

Although Tempo|ZeRo hasn't been competing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournaments with the same amount of intensity as he did for Super Smash Bros. 4, ZeRo is still a very strong player thanks to his fundamentals.

Recently, he decided to infiltrate random streamers' arenas while disguised as somebody else. His username, "Ashleyyy," gave off the impression that he was a female that played Smash Bros.

10 more minutes of Ultra Instinct Goku shown in Dragon Ball FighterZ before his release

Ultra Instinct Goku appears to have a lot of interesting moves in Dragon Ball FighterZ. For example, he's able to casually walk through projectiles with minimal movement.

Although Ultra Instinct Goku won't be released until May 22, the update that contains the character data has already been released for certain parts of the world. By using Captain Ginyu's Body Change technique, players are able to steal Ultra Instinct Goku from the A.I. and try him out for themselves.

With EVO going online I'm really interested to see how the Cody-playing, Warlord-ranked Shazzy might perform in Street Fighter 5

I can't recall seeing Shazzy in any major Street Fighter 5 tournament bracket results, but his presence in the game's online world has become undeniable.

That's why I'm looking especially forward to seeing how this online warrior performs should he be one to participate in EVO 2020, the fighting game genre's largest yearly major competition that will be decided via network play this year.

Poll: Do you think it's better to have the Capcom Pro Tour online or to wait until offline play is an option again?

The fighting game community suddenly finds itself immersed in a chapter we more or less knew was coming, but has perhaps been expedited thanks to the effects coronavirus has had on major fighting game tournaments.

It was on Thursday that Capcom announced their 2020 Pro Tour would take place entirely in the online realm. RZR|Xian, a Street Fighter 5 pro who has made the finals of every Capcom Pro Tour to date, posted a poll on his Twitter asking followers if they feel it's better to have the Tour online or not at all.

SonicFox shares their final Mortal Kombat 11 tier list before the Aftermath update

In just under two weeks' time Mortal Kombat 11 will undergo a major transition as developers roll out MK11: Aftermath. This update will bring with it new stages, new enders, and eventually three new characters.

While we don't know exactly when the next balance patch for MK11 will drop, we do know that the game will soon be undergoing significant changes and so it only makes sense that a top player like EG|SonicFox might give us their final tier list for MK11's current state.
