The reason why people get mad seems pretty obvious to me. Less players playing fighting games means a smaller scene. A smaller scene also means smaller payouts at tournaments. I think most of us can agree that we want to see the FGC grow, and big name players going off to play some other competitive game damages this ideal, thus they don't want other people to know about it.
