Well you "are" given a choice when you play the game after all. If button mapping is something a player disagrees with, then the simplest solution would be to set your game so that you don't fight people who use button mapping.

I think it's about time they kept the home and arcade versions of the SF4 games the same for once. If they're going to be updating the arcade version with any kind of gameplay changes like new moves, rebalancing, new characters, etc. then they SHOULD update the console versions as well so they don't split the SF4 demographic.
