It's a shame how terrible the online play is for SFxT right now. Putting aside the apparent sound issue, I find that its even laggier than SF4 when they claimed that it shouldn't be with the new netcode. I don't think this game will last very long online at this rate.

A lot of tourney players here are scumbags. Hell, the whole FGC community has a lot of immaturity problems, combine that with money on the stake + USA pride and you're bound to get salty and hostile players. The respectable players are a minority.
