There's been a lot of discussion in the community on how the U.S. stacks up against Japan after the results of CEO 2012. EG|Justin Wong took first place in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012, and he and others beat some of Japan's best players along the way.I think the USA's top players are about equal with Japan's players, but our mid / low level players don't stand a chance against Japan. To be honest, I like USA vs. Japan 20 vs. 20, I think it would be a very good match. — coL.cc|Filipino Champ
I believe that overall Japan still has the best SF4 competition, but we do have players now that can rival the best in Japan, in my opinion. Japan does not hold the best of every character as they use to. In the USA, we have the best Rufus, C. Viper, Guile, etc. and we are steadily catching up where USA tourneys are not "free" for them. — EG|Justin Wong
It was announced today that Sora Ltd. and Namco Bandai are working together on the latest Super Smash Bros. title, for the Wii U and 3DS. Project lead, Masahiro Sakurai, and Namco Bandai producer, Masaya Kobayashi (Ridge Racer, Go Vacation), talked about the collaboration.
Masahiro Sakurai
Hello, I’m Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the Super Smash Bros. series.
It’s my personal belief that the only time a creative product really resonates is in that first moment when it’s actually in front of you.
With that said, I’ve realized that if we keep the new Super Smash Bros. title’s development structure secret, it’ll only create more and more speculation, and I won’t be able to develop the game with any freedom. That’s why I’ve decided to announce this news right now, even though it’s still very early on.
I would love to provide more information, but for now, I’m going to stay quiet until I have something solid to show you.

Seth Killian has written a blog on Capcom Unity detailing his departure from Capcom. Below is a bit from Seth on the subject.
I'm posting today to say that Friday, June 22nd will be my last day at Capcom.
Writing this is incredibly difficult. In no uncertain terms, Capcom has been a dream for me.
I have chosen a new path which will let me embrace a new dream, but to everyone that ever believed in this dream we shared together, let me say this final thanks. I will leave as I began — a Capcom fan for life, looking forward to all the great games still to come.

It's unlikely that King of Fighters 13 will continue to be in Major League Gaming's (MLG) lineup of fighting games, Carlos Arvelo, community manager, recently told EventHubs. He added that it's not impossible for the title to return, but due to poor performance at recent tournaments, it doesn't seem like it will happen.MLG Columbus: Winter Championships - March 23-25
• King of Fighters 13 — 25 entrants
• Mortal Kombat 9 — 92 entrants
• Soul Calibur 5 — 75 entrants
MLG Anaheim: Spring Championships - June 8-10
• King of Fighters 13 — 30 entrants
• Mortal Kombat 9 — 84 entrants
• Soul Calibur 5 — 59 entrants
There's some positive news here though, as Arvelo added that MLG isn't going to slow down in regards to fighters, and if anything — they'll be growing in the future. He noted that Major League Gaming is looking to put a new strategy in place for fighting games that will be more in line with what people are used to.
We'll have more news here on EventHubs about MLG's fighting game plans, as it develops, so please keep checking back.
In April 2012 former producer of Street Fighter X Tekken and Street Fighter 4 Yoshinori Ono fell mysteriously ill and became hospitalized. EuroGamer recently sat down with Ono to discuss what exactly happened to the beloved Capcom employee. "I woke up and walked to the bathroom," he tells me. "When I opened the door the room was abnormally steamy. Stranger still: the steam was rising. It kept rising, up and up, and I didn't understand what was going on. It was like I was suffocating. Then, when the steam reached my head level I passed out cold and collapsed onto the tiles."
What happened then?
"My wife was at home and heard the crash. Later she told me that she ran into the bathroom. There was no steam, just my body on the floor. She called an ambulance and I was rushed to hospital. When I came to, the doctor told me that my blood acidity level was on par with someone who had just finished running a marathon. He asked me: 'Ono-san, what on earth you been up to?' I told him that I woke up, went for a bath and simply passed out. He didn't believe me. I guess I have been working too hard. You could say my health bar was on the dot."
