Capcom will likely be shying away from doing what they termed as 'straight ports' of fighting games in the future, Christian Svensson said on the official Capcom forums. He noted that feedback from their December digital survey, plus a recent trend in sales, has shown them that fans don't want just 'straight ports' of their titles, like how Darkstalkers Resurrection and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, among others, turned out.
Subjects covered also include updates of digital versions of their fighters on PSN, including Capcom vs. SNK 2, PC sales numbers and if Tatsunoko vs. Capcom will see an e-Shop release. Hit the jump to read everything.
R.Case: I heard that you are going to slow down on making HD ports of fighting games, so does that mean you might try and look into doing HD ports of other genres and franchises?
Svensson: I'd think "straight ports" we'll see less of in the digital space in the future. That was one of the key points we took away in the verbatims of the digital survey we did in December (and what our recent sales trends are telling us too).
Beyond that, I'm not prepared to provide additional details at this time.

In regards to the slowing sales of newer fighting game rereleases and ports from Capcom, one user at Capcom-Unity suggested that they try releasing the games to more platforms, instead of just the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Christian Svensson replied to this post, and gave insight as to why Capcom is not interested in releasing their titles, like Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike Online Edition and Darkstalkers Resurrection for PC or other potential platforms.
I have considered it but there's considerable overlap in platform ownership such that the effort to revisit work as a rerelease is not likely to cover the costs of development.
In general, staggered releases that can't get some critical mass of marketing behind them do not work.
Hit the jump to hear the reasoning behind pros getting early copies of the games.

Christian Svensson is once again back on the Capcom-Unity forums answering questions. When asked if Tatsunoko vs. Capcom will make it to the Wii U, Svensson responded saying that the rights with Tatsunoko have lapsed and so they can no longer sell the game at all.
Our rights with Tatsunoko have lapsed fairly recently (so we're no longer allowed to sell the title physically or digitally). Unless Japan were to strike a new deal, I'd say the chances of this happening are slim.
Additionally, GregaMan made a blog post detailing Street Fighter X Tekken's small update this week which brings Boost Gem Packs 16-18, Color Palette Addon-On 9 and Boost Gem Trial Pack 7 are available for download on both PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace.

Earlier this week, GregaMan on Capcom-Unity made a blog post discussing the Street Fighter series low point. That low point being Street Fighter: The Movie, that was released in 1994 starring none other than Jean-Claude Van Damme himself.
Here's a bit from the article, hit the jump to see more and video showing the super combos for the game.
Street Fighter: The Movie (the game)
So back in 1994, American culture was in a pretty weird place. With the '80s well behind us but still a distinct memory, people were more or less open to anything that didn't immediately remind them of the '80s. Dave Matthews took the nation by storm with his unique brand of whatever-rock, Jim Carrey contorted his face all the way to the top of the box office, and The Flintstones came roaring back in the form of a live action movie.
