East Coast Throwdown 5 - SSF4 AE v2012, UMvC3, SFxT and IGAU to be played on Xbox 360 instead of PS3

The official East Coast Throwdown 5 Facebook page recently dropped a bit of information on the games being played at the event. Due to popular demand, numerous games will now be played on Xbox 360 instead of PlayStation 3 like originally planned.

Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Street Fighter X Tekken and Injustice: Gods Among Us will all now be run on Microsoft's console. The change was made because of the many complaints that have been floating around about the PlayStation 3's tendency to lag during matches.

Sven: I think we'll see less 'straight ports' in the digital space in the future - update on PSN CvS2 and more

Capcom will likely be shying away from doing what they termed as 'straight ports' of fighting games in the future, Christian Svensson said on the official Capcom forums. He noted that feedback from their December digital survey, plus a recent trend in sales, has shown them that fans don't want just 'straight ports' of their titles, like how Darkstalkers Resurrection and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, among others, turned out.

Subjects covered also include updates of digital versions of their fighters on PSN, including Capcom vs. SNK 2, PC sales numbers and if Tatsunoko vs. Capcom will see an e-Shop release. Hit the jump to read everything.

Christian Svensson talks fighting game ports for other platforms and why pros get early releases of their games

In regards to the slowing sales of newer fighting game rereleases and ports from Capcom, one user at Capcom-Unity suggested that they try releasing the games to more platforms, instead of just the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Christian Svensson replied to this post, and gave insight as to why Capcom is not interested in releasing their titles, like Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike Online Edition and Darkstalkers Resurrection for PC or other potential platforms.
