Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist set to start shooting this year

Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist set to start shooting this year As detailed in our earlier story, Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist is a project from the creators of the Street Fighter: Legacy series, aimed to give fans a well-made live-action adaption of the Street Fighter series.

After starting up their Kickstarter campaign roughly two weeks ago, with a goal of £625,000 ($950,000 USD), they recently shut it down two weeks earlier than their planned May 4th end date. The reason for this was explained by the series' Co-Creator Joey Ansah on their Kickstarter page.

Street Fighter 2 Guile theme acapella version by Smooth McGroove

Smooth McGroove put together a very nicely composed acapella version of Guile's Street Fighter 2 theme. Using only his voice, Smooth McGroove sings each part of the song and edited them together with a bit of match footage in the center. This is one of the more interesting SF2 theme song covers and it's definitely worth a watch.

This isn't the first time we've seen Street Fighter themes recreated in peculiar ways. Not too long ago we had Marcelo Carvalho reenact a SF2 match between Ryu and Sagat with only his mouth and a guitar. We also saw Guile's theme noisily played on 8 floppy drives.

The target amount they are looking to raise is £625,000, ($950,000 USD). Two VHS tapes give a glimpse into the past with Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike

Thanks to the efforts of The Urban Arcade and Retro Reality Gaming, we have two glimpses into the past of Capcom's Street Fighter history. The first video gives a look into an arcade tournament held on 1999, the first year of Third Strike's release whereas the second video is an instructional videotape from the Nintendo Magazine System showing players how to play The World Warrior.

There are humorous pieces in both videos, The first contains Yun players using SA2, people actually picking Twelve, a Q player winning, and Chun-li players doing the same low forward shenanigans as always. The second video has takes on how strong some characters are compared to others while showing some of the more interesting move properties in SF2 (such as Honda's Sumo Headbutt not knocking down).

Awesome promo tape from the early 90s claims Genesis Street Fighter 2 Turbo has better graphics and sound than the arcade version

Video game promo tapes from the 90s seem to have a bit of an aversion to the truth. Back in 1993 Capcom sent out about 1,000 VHS cassettes to hype up the release of the Genesis version of Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition.

While the other Capcom SF2 VHS strategy guide is fairly infamous and well documented, which you can find after the jump, this version is somewhat more rare as it was released in such limited quantities.

In the tape, you get to find out notable things like:

• The Genesis version is actually better than the arcade, "no lie!"

• It features more crowd noise and even more realistic sound than found in the arcade version.

• The music and graphics are better "with colors not found any where else."

I think anyone who purchased the home console versions of these games may have had a thing or two to say to the contrary in regards to the music and graphics being better, especially in the Genesis port where the characters sounded like they have laryngitis.

Street Fighter 2: Ryu vs. Sagat - sound effects, music and voices recreated by Marcelo Carvalho

Street Fighter 2 is a classic 2D fighter with sound effects, music and voices that we all recognize and love. Marcelo Carvalho created an awesome video in which he single-handedly recreates a SF2 match up between Ryu vs. Sagat.

Tatsumaki Senpyukakus, Shoryukens, Tiger Shots, you'll hear it all from the mouth of this one guy. That Sagat laugh at the end is spot on!
