The creators of the Oddworld series of games, have been trying to get Oddworld's Abe into PlayStation All-Stars for some time now.
Back in September, Stewart Gilray explained that SuperBot Entertainment was not showing any interesting in including Abe, one of the PS1's semi-iconic characters in their game.
On Twitter a fan asked if the developers had gotten an update on getting him in the game. The developers replied stating they are "still working on it."
Now as a huge fan of the Oddworld series, I personally would love to see this addition to the game.

SuperBot Entertainment has posted a FAQ over on their Tumblr. This covers some of the important questions that have been coming up as of late from character balance, freezing glitches, arcade sticks not working and more.
Here is a small excerpt, check out the full story over on the Tumblr
—Kratos/PaRappa/Jak etc. are overpowered. Can you please nerf them?
Balance is hugely important to us, and we have spent a great deal of our development time balancing the gameplay between all of the characters. However, we also believe it’s important to give players enough time to explore the game and find their own counters to seemingly dominant strategies. Releasing balance patches too quickly can stifle that creativity, so we’re taking a more steady, patient approach when it comes to character tuning.
We shall continue to gather telemetry data from the millions of online matches being played. If any of the characters are shown to be greatly overpowered, it will be readily apparent, and we will make adjustments as needed.
—Fat Princess’ Villagers freeze in the air forever after laying a bomb.
—On Heihachi’s level 2 super, Kuma does his little dance then freezes after finishing the super.
This is a known issue with PAL and should be addressed in Patch 1.04.

SuperBot's Omar Kendall and Daniel "Clockw0rk" Maniago recently held a chat session to take fan feedback and answer questions. DualShockers did a great job transcribing the dialogue and came away with some notable details, including:
• They're currently focused on Nathan Drake, Raiden and Kratos in regards to character balance.
• Sackboy's nerf was planned before the game went live, but the nerf isn't set in stone.
• Kratos is the most popular character while Fat Princess is by far the least.
• SuperBot mainly considers ranked match statistics in regards to character balance. They do plan on revealing some of these stats on which characters are the most successful.
• They’re investigating the possibility of adding 1v1 ranked matches and a timer option for stock/kill limit.

A pair of job opportunities at SuperBot sprung up recently on Gamasutra which suggest that a sequel to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale may be in the works. The first one, for a game designer, mentions finding someone with "a near encyclopedic knowledge of modern games, with emphasis on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale," and "knowledge of fighting games, their systems and mechanics."
The second ad is for an art director for "a project such as PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, which by definition brings together elements ranging from an incredibly wide range of artistic styles, requires a strong and unifying vision to present a cohesive and polished product."
In that same posting, it notes candidates should have a "particular emphasis on the history of PlayStation titles and characters," which would fit the MO for another PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale game, as they'd be adding additional Sony characters to a new title.
If this logic holds up, this would be a bit of a shock to many people as the game was reported to have sold very poorly in the UK. On Sony's end though, they had said that sales numbers were "right on target" with their expectations.
