EventHub's readers chose which 6 main games they'd like to see played at SoCal Regionals 2014 - Killer Instinct and Melee make the cut

Last week, we here at EventHubs created a poll to get an idea of which 6 games our readers would most like to see as the main titles played at SoCal Regionals 2014. This was an unofficial poll generated to give the Level|Up team a better idea of what the community would like to see played next year.

The votes have been tallied, and the results are in. Interestingly enough, both Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Killer Instinct made it into the top 6, beating out games like Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Street Fighter X Tekken. Melee is a game that isn't really played at most major events, (sans Smash specific tournaments), and Killer Instinct is still yet to be released.

Poll: Which 6 games do you think should be the main titles at SoCal Regionals 2014?

Earlier today, Level|Up's Alex Valle tweeted out a question to the fighting game community. Being a part of the team that runs the SoCal Regionals tournament series, Valle wants to know which 5 - 6 games you'd like to see as the main titles played at SCR 2014, next year. In order to assist the Level|Up team with their decisions, we have created a poll for our readers to cast their votes. Below, we have listed all of the main fighting game titles currently featured in tournament play, and we are giving you the option to select 6 different games.

If there is a title we missed, or you'd just like to see something else played that wasn't listed, hit the "Other" option, and let us know which game you chose in the comments section.

Street Fighter 2 on SNES sold 10x more copies than Street Fighter 4 on consoles in Japan - statistics showing decline of Japan fighting game sales

A French site by the name of GameCharts.fr recently posted an article that exhibits sales numbers for console fighting games in Japan. Organized into several charts and graphs, we get a look out how each listed game sold, ranging from the Street Fighter 2 series on Super Nintendo, all the way through the Xbox 360 / PS3 generation, including mobile consoles.

Looking at the numbers, it is quite shocking to see that console fighting game sales have greatly dropped since the early Super Nintendo days.

According to the statistics, the very first iteration of Street Fighter 2 sold a whopping 2,880,00 copies, with the following two games in the series also selling in the millions. Jumping forward to 2009, Street Fighter 4 (Vanilla) only sold 210,641 copies on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 collectively.

Devs using feedback from players as a basis for rebalancing Persona 4 TUUSH - Yu and Chie most popular characters at location tests so far

Devs using feedback from players as a basis for rebalancing Persona 4 TUUSH - Yu and Chie most popular characters at location tests so far Player feedback is serving as a base for Persona 4: The Ultimate Ultra Suplex Hold's rebalancing process, according Arc System Works.

"With the previous title, we collected plenty of feedback from players, such as character balance," said director, Seiji Fukumoto. "With that as a base, we'll continue with the parts that made it fun, while adjusting the parts that weren't too well received."

Fukumoto didn't want to reveal all of the major alterations they made to the game though, and asked that "as far as any big changes are concerned, please try it out at the location tests to get a feel it for yourself."

Players wondering who the most popular characters are now won't be in for much of a surprise. Currently Yu and Chi are ruling the roost, which matches up closes with our rankings for Persona 4: Arena where those characters are currently in 2nd (Chie) and 3rd place (Yu).

Yu was apparently the most popular character by a landslide at location tests so far, although the developers noted he's changed considerably for his iteration in P4A. Hit the jump to read on.
