24-hour fighting game stream this weekend for Family Fun Arcade - Arcade Relief

A 24-hour stream is taking place this weekend, December 15th, and many well known players and faces in the community are lending a hand to honor Family Fun Arcade, which will be closing its doors January 2013.

For 38 years, Family Fun Arcade has been a shining spot in southern California, and RedRapper put together this trailer to honor the establishment and promo this weekend's stream, hosted by Level|Up and Mike Watson.

Persona 4 Arena wins best fighting game of 2012 at Spike's Video Game Awards 10

Quite a few of our favorite fighting games have received award nominations recently at different events. We saw Skullgirls nominated for best animation and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 up for the best competitive multiplayer award at the Machinima Inside Gaming Awards 2012.

At Spike's Video Game Awards 10 that aired yesterday, in the category of best fighting game of 2012, the nominations were Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Persona 4 Arena, Street Fighter X Tekken and Dead or Alive 5. Although the category wasn't aired on television, Persona 4 Arena took home the award for best fighting game of 2012.

One of the longest running majors on the East Coast and a recurring site for amazing players and matches, Northeast Championships will have 5(!) streams showing off its action today, with the flagship stream being lead by Team Spooky. The venue is going to be the Holiday Inn Stadium, and will have tournaments for SSF4 AE v2012, UMvC3, DoA5, MK9, SC5, TTT2, KoF13, P4A, BB, GG, SSBB and SSBM.

Northeast Championships 13 and SF25th Anniversary Tournament UK tournament preview

This weekend we have two events that judging by the players in attendance will be amazing. Up first is the Northeast Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Several top players will be attending, including Justing Wong, Chris G, Ricky Ortiz,Alex Valle, Sanford Kelly and more.

The second event this weekend is the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournament UK Qualifier, which will feature players like Ryan Hart, F-Word, Mago, Momochi and more.

UCI Big Booty Monthly #3 tournament archives featuring Alex Valle, Richard Nguyen, AndyOCR, Bala, Jint and more

Every month at the University of California, Irvine a monthly tournament is held called Big Booty Monthly with tournaments for Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, King of Fighters 13 and Persona 4 Arena. This features some of the best SoCal players even some who can't regularly attend the weekly Wednesday Night Fights and The Runback.

Some of the players you will see are LU|Alex Valle, ER|Richard Nguyen, ER|AndyOCR, 949|Wentinel, Toki, IGL|Bala, and Jint. Also there are some up and coming players like BJ, Ricardo, Lily, and DJ Divine.

Level|Up is streaming their Atlus Fighting Championships today live from Super Arcade over in Walnut, California. The live stream is scheduled to kick off at 2 p.m. PST, so it should be starting up very soon.

Both King of Fighters 13 and Persona 4 Arena will be featured at today's event with some of SoCal's best expected to be in attendance. Some of the players that signed up include IGL|Bala, AGE|Romance, DMG|JuiceBox Abel, IGL|The Answer, Luis Cha and more.

First place winners of each game will receive a custom Mad Catz Tournament Edition S fight stick for their respective game which you can see below.

SpikeTV's 2012 Video Game Awards - Voting open for the best fighting game of 2012

SpikeTV is hosting their annual Video Game Awards on December 7, 2012. They have many different categories from best fighting game, best multi-player game, best DLC and many more.

In the best fighting game section you can choose between Dead or Alive 5, Persona 4 Arena, Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

There is not any other categories where fighting games show up, but if you're a fan of games outside of just the fighting genre there is a ton to vote on.

Cross Counter's Barfights from Alhambra, California, Infrit vs. KillerKai and Marn vs. Richard Nguyen

The Cross Counter team is streaming a Barfights event tonight from the Azul Ultra Lounge in Alhambra, California. This is a free event, so if you're in the area stop by to play some games. Stream is supposd to start around 8 p.m. PST, so it should start any moment.
