We had the chance to catch up with compLexity Gaming's Ryan "Filipino Champ" Ramirez recently for a round of questions. Ramirez is often regarded as one of the community's top Marvel players.
In this piece, Ryan discusses why he's been picking Phoenix in tournament matches, and if he plans on going with Dormammu again any time soon. He also covers if Morrigan is overpowered in UMvC3, if he'll start playing Street Fighter 4 again once the update is made available, and what his training regimen is going to be for this year's EVO tournament.
This is an enlightening interview with one of the community's most well known players. Here's a short blurb to get you going, but hit the jump to check out the entire piece.
EventHubs: You've been using Phoenix frequently in UMvC3 tournaments, is there a reason you're not picking Dormammu as often? In the future, are you going to stick with Phoenix, or do you think you'll eventually go away from her?
Filipino Champ: I'm very stubborn and competitive, which is my downfall the majority of the time. I still pick Phoenix even when I know it's not a match up that favors her.
At EVO I'll play Dormammu 99% [of the time], I promise!

Capcom revised their financial forecasts after a loss of around $73 million, due to game cancellations, something Capcom is partly blaming on projects that have been outsourced overseas. Outsourcing projects overseas has been a standard practice for Capcom as of late.
After feeling that this strategy isn't working out for them, Capcom has decided to revert to their old fashion of having more internal game development, believing that their losses stem from a loss of quality due to "excessive" outsourcing of projects, which led to these games being cancelled.

In a thread over on Capcom-Unity, which questioned why Super Street Fighter 4 is getting yet another update while Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 isn't, Capcom's own Christian Svensson popped in, as he often does, to shed light on the situation.
In usual Svensson-fashion, he cuts straight to the point in a list of why it is more viable, as well as actually possible, for them to focus on updating the Street Fighter IV series rather than the Marvel vs. Capcom series.
1. We have appropriate dev resources available that can work on this project. The same can not be said for an MvC3 update. At the end of the day, this update is not being done at the expense of another... MVC3 couldn't be done either way. I'm not sure how many times I need to express that.

The guys over at FGTVLive recently sat down to discuss some possible balance changes to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Today we have part 2 of their potential changes this time focusing on universal tweaks to the game and the characters: Ryu, Iron Man, Trish, Strider, Deadpool and Hsien-Ko.
CoL|Filipino Champ, ShadyK and Magus1234 all discuss the nerfs and buffs they'd like to see made to the game itself and the aforementioned characters. Below is a bit to get you started and you can check out FGTVLive's blog for the full list.
Hit the jump to check out a bit more of the universal changes and the video embed.
Universal system changes:
- Incoming hit stun deterioration on TAC combos starts at 0 and then increases like a normal combo instead of remaining at 0 during the whole combo. Will eliminate TAC infinites as well as drastically long fly combos. This will make TACs more balanced with characters who do not have flight mode options.
- Air throw commands changed to b+h and f+h only. Can no longer airthrow using diagonals to prevent accidental “option select” air throws + command normals.
