Nando's comeback on Snake Eyez, Filipinoman's first round loss and Dieminion's absurd luck; SoCal Regionals day two highlights

If we've learned anything from day two of SoCal Regionals this year, it's to never put down the stick before a round is officially over. Today's highlights feature an array of surprising sequences wherein the last thing you'd expect to have happen, happens.

Futile vs. Filipinoman

In our first highlight, YP|Filipinoman looks to close things out against fellow SoCal combatant: Futile. Down to the final round, Filipinoman has Futile knocked down with almost no health left.

Surprising just about everyone, Futile wakes up with a close fierce combo that leads into massive damage, and an upset.

On the road to eSports? PandaXGaming's slick player cards and halftime show at AB6 attest to the FGC's increasing level of professionalism

While it may be a bit of a stretch to call it a mile marker on the FGC's road to eSports, we are seeing more and more professionalization in tournament presentation. At Aboslute Battle 6, SolidxPanda has put in quite an effort to set his stream apart from the norm.

This isn't the first time we've seen player presentations such as these, but AB6 isn't sponsored by companies like Capcom or MadCatz. This is a grassroots effort, motivated and executed by the local community. They've even featured a "halftime show," done by Daily Dot.

Take a look at a few of the player vs. screens below:

This is a great example for future tournaments to take on. As we continue on the road towards eSports, growing attention to presentation is a great way to maintain professionalism and make a statement about just how seriously we take ourselves in the FGC.

You'll find another great example of innovative live stream presentation by Showdown GG.

After four, long years Arizona re-hydrates its tournament scene with the brand new 'Rewired 2015'

This guy is better at Smash Bros. using his feet than I am with my hands

From 2005-2011, Devastation was the "big deal" event for the Arizona fighting game scene. After Devastation was cancelled in 2012, The Grand Canyon State become something of a ghost town where major tournaments were concerned.

After some tireless wandering in Southern California, learning from organizers such as the famed LU|Alex Valle, Nick "F99|Driftwood" Going returned to his home state with big plans. Teaming with local Smash Bros. TO, Justin "JBVH" Bruce Van Horne, Going is bringing about his first regional tournament this November 14th-15th: Rewired 2015.

"It's hard for some players to travel, and without a tournament worthy of outsiders, many in our scene can't grow," says Going, "My goal with Rewired is to establish a yearly tournament of grand scale that will attract out of towners and give our players the chance to learn, improve and shine."

Boasting an affordable entry fee of only $15, a venue that serves free breakfast and over $1,500 in pot bonuses, Rewired looks to establish Arizona a regular stop on the North American tournament circuit. Hit the jump to see the trailer.

Filipino Champ discusses playing an FGC villain, claims Marvel as 'America's game' and gets very emotional in this Daily Dot interview

Wherever PG|Filipino Champ goes, some kind of tension is sure to follow, and that's exactly the way he likes it.

In an interview with Daily Dot, Champ discusses how he enjoys playing the role of an FGC villain. He actually states, "I love it when people boo me," as he thrives off of the idea that it ensures people will be invested in his matches.

From there, the interview takes quite an emotional turn in the opposite direction. Champ has actually cancelled his plans to attend Absolute Battle 6, citing the reason being that he lost his grandmother whilst playing at AB5, and that there are too many painful memories associated.

After regaining his composure, Champ delves into the game he's best known for: Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. He argues that Marvel is still America's game, despite recent showings from other nations around the globe.

'I'm going to bury Tommy Gunz's gaming career in his hometown this Saturday' - Crackfiend preps for his exhibition at Absolute Battle 6

Many fighting gamers will be traveling to Dallas this weekend for one of Texas' most prestigious tournaments, Absolute Battle 6. Panda X Gaming will be holding their Ultra Fight Night live at AB6, and one exhibition in particular has a lot of people talking.

Anthony "pH|Crackfiend" Ngyuen will take on Christopher "Tommy Gunz" Acosta in a first to seven set in Ultra Street Fighter 4. Gunz, known in the community for his somewhat boastful and outlaw-esque persona, recall his famous set with Justin Wong, has developed quite a feud with Crackfiend after verbally attacking the NorCal scene. The two plan to settle it this Saturday at AB6.

"I need to embarrass him." says Crackfiend, "and talk (crap) the entire time we play, it's not enough to just win, I need to make a statement." Gunz would have a few words of his own on the matter, "To be honest, Crackfiend has no chance in hell of beating me. I guarantee he has not played a Hakan on my level. Final result: 7-3 me."

This isn't, by any means, all the event has to offer. Hit the jump for more details on AB6.

This year's The Fall Classic featured hype across the board, as many games' top eight brackets had very memorable moments.

Street Fighter 5 to be playable at Red Fight District IV next month, will we see a new build with the next character?

Red Fight District IV is taking place in Amsterdam on October 3rd - 4th, and the tournament is shaping up to be a doozie.

Tournaments for Ultra Street Fighter 4, Mortal Kombat X, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Killer Instinct, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- are scheduled, and players such as MD|Luffy, LLL|MBR, and Gonzales from Japan are expected to compete. This Capcom Pro Tour Ranking event will surely be a spectacle to behold, but there's an added incentive for those who attend.

Street Fighter 5 will be featured at Red Fight District IV and playable for attendees. By now, there's a fairly good chance we'll be seeing another character reveal tomorrow, based on Ono's hints. This could very well mean that a newer build of SF5 might be playable at the event, especially with the tournament taking place nearly a month after tomorrow's reveal.

If so, we can expect to see plenty of gameplay footage featuring the next fighter in action. And at the very least, the PAX R. Mika build will be featured, which means more footage of everyone's favorite luchador.

You can check out the trailer for Red Fighter District IV after the jump.

This Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 bug might be game breaking

A recently-discovered glitch in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 may cause dilemma for the title's tournament scene. The game can be manipulated to reset characters on the screen in the middle of a match.

This glitch seems to happen when a player performs a hard tag followed by an immediate recall of their initial character during the screen transition. The game will instantly teleport the first character back to their position on the screen before the initial hard tag was made.

This apparently works with most every character. The good news here is that this bug requires both players to stay motionless for a short time, but anyone that's watched a Marvel match knows that a "short time" is eons within the ethos of the game.

It's a bit of a convoluted concept to describe on paper, but you can see it in action after the jump below.
