Street Fighter 5 challenges discovered... and it looks like there are nearly 7,000

Posted by John 'Velociraptor' Guerrero • February 17, 2016 at 1:44 p.m. PST

Though Street Fighter 5's Challenge Mode will not be available until next month, we've stumbled upon a list of challenges in the game's menus.

Though we cannot begin progress on them yet, if you enter your Fighter Profile, navigate right to the "Power" section, navigate down to "Technique Data" option and select it you'll see the full list of 27 challenges.

These look to be universal to all characters, and it appears you'll have to perform each challenge in each and every match up to get full credit. This means you have to do each challenge (27) with each character (16) against each character (16) for a grand total of 6,912.

We've screen capped them all so you can easily view them here.

When people say that there isn't enough content in SF5.

Hai there

Hopefully completing them gets you fight money.

I thought challenges were supposed to like in SF4 where they gave you a series of increasingly different combos to complete on a dummy opponent.

#4
MetabolicFrolic said on February 17, 2016 at 1:48 p.m.

It does. This is the main way to get a big boost in FM if you're running low before a character gets released.

...Or just a good way to stock up.

Yeah that would be cool 2

Uhhhhh, these aren't trials. They're all items that will just happen by themselves when playing the game. Like some of the small achievements in SFIV.

Looks like everyone has a crossup so far. I'm curious what they will do for Rog's. Perhaps like Fang j.HK which changes sides on crossup

That's great and all but any news on an arcade mode or a VS mode against the CPU?

#20
Montsegur said on February 17, 2016 at 2:04 p.m.

They're getting there. Been in a lounge all afternoon, only one D/C. Had a few ranked/casual matches. The netcode (when working) is really good. Was playing my friend from Japan (I'm in Canada) and it was almost flawless.

#21
Dbarcelona said on February 17, 2016 at 2:08 p.m.

You know arcade mode seems kinda dated to me I would enjoy cpu vs

I'm liking survival and storymode

it would be great if they added more survival challenges similar to those in Vanilla SFIV

These aren't the things Capcom said we'd be able to achieve while playing for fight money right? If so, the requirements sounds like they messed up. I'm reeealllllyyyy hoping capcom didn't screw up the critical F2P shop aspect or that's the nail in the coffin for Casuals. Which coming from Capcom and SF would basically send shockwaves throughout every aspect of the FGC. Hopefully, Capcom will be the first dev to understand how the scene will grow.

#25
Dimensional said on February 17, 2016 at 2:12 p.m.

These are the daily challenges right? well all pretty standard nothing unexpected and simple enough to do in most cases seems like.

I wonder how much fight money you get from each one and how many you get a day?please for the love of god dont make it so you have to do every single one with every character against every other character daily to get say 2000 FM.

Nothing wrong with whats here though just how they are implemented maybe and guess we will have to wait and see on that front. Its not really content but then I dont really think it was meant to be.

Was gonna play tonight but theres a near 6GB patch so gonna have to wait 9 hours hopefully it works tommorow since I haver the day off and I havent even been able to play it at all thanks to not being able to get in the beta.

ninjaXzero said on February 17, 2016 at 2:16 p.m.

I agree an arcade mode is getting outdated, it's more for nestolgia that I'd like it to return. I've been playing fighting games since '92 and it just feels bare without an arcade mode.

Faethon81 said on February 17, 2016 at 2:19 p.m.

I hope theres a challenge beating 1000 nightmare difficulty opponents with every character using only light attacks with one hand while drunk and semi-blindfolded to unlock the colours 11-20 and unique titles that prove you're really worth playing this game.

Gamefreak said on February 17, 2016 at 2:24 p.m.

No thanks. I gladly gave them $90 for the game and season pass together. I think people should wake up and stop complaining about spending money on games when they could of avoided their butthurt by doing a little research before dropping $60.

real_MAHVEL_god said on February 17, 2016 at 2:33 p.m.

really confused as to why they didnt release it at launch.

at least 100 of them right? haha. so weird but i still feel like there is plenty to do until next months update.

when should we expect an alex trailer?

real_MAHVEL_god said on February 17, 2016 at 2:36 p.m.

i know people dont care about them but i am glad trials are back. they helped me out so much when i started playing street fighter 4. great for newbs

#31
xShonuffx said on February 17, 2016 at 2:41 p.m.

This looks more like on the fly challenges or daily challenges similar to MKX and Third Strike:OE.

#32
real_MAHVEL_god said on February 17, 2016 at 2:41 p.m.

seeing stuff like this just makes me a bit upset. i know i shouldnt really care about reviews if i like the game but this game could have easily gotten 10/10 scores from reviewers and like SF4 become one of the must own games of the generation. SF4 has like 94 on metacritic

but with its lacking features at launch it has cast a bad spotlight on the game even if they are coming or not.

maybe in a year the game will get re-reviewed

#33
xShonuffx said on February 17, 2016 at 2:44 p.m.

I believe Capcom said every character will have a reliable cross up. Balrog is good to go.

#35
DarkSamus said on February 17, 2016 at 2:54 p.m.

By the time this is released won't we have Alex in the game?

So it would actually be 27 challenges with 17 characters against 17 characters?

7803 if I am correct

Lmfao! So want to say something? Hmm?

Don't woryy capcom will force people to use real money like you said and after these gimmiky 7000 challenges though.....

HA HA HA this is an instant I'm all for data mining the content!

Thanks pc nation! +1 for you guys!

SFV finally caught up with Tekken, DBZ, and Naruto where you do certain things and get in-game currency to purchase items.

#41
SimpleFighterV said on February 17, 2016 at 3:32 p.m.

Agreed, This game sucks soo bad! lmao SF4 is miles ahead of this fast food garbage. Street Fighter 2 is miles ahead of this garbage! modes aside the battle engine is over simplified trash.

Enjoy Simple Scam Failer V Fanboys. Now down vote me and defend Crapcom like a bunch of battered wives.

"Capcom doesn't mean to hurt us! Really! It was our fault for asking too much! Finished games are over rated 90s Nostalgia-Boy crap anyway!"

#42
j8slim said on February 17, 2016 at 3:33 p.m.

Challenge #1 should be to successfully play 30 minutes worth of Battle Lounge matches. I love the game so far, but the server issues have put a massive damper on things.

I figure along with these, Capcom will have maybe random challenges or things pop up for XP or Fight Money, similar to how Tekken Revolution and mobile games do.

YogaTeleport said on February 17, 2016 at 4:21 p.m.

Same here, yeah I want that...

#44
HawtBawls said on February 17, 2016 at 4:31 p.m.

I am probably gonna get down-voted by fanboys but SF V is kind of boring...
I can't seem to like anyone? I play Dhalsim and it's ok but 1-2 missed timed normals and match is done.

Play Ryu too but man he feels so gimped. Feels like the special onlympics. No range at all and fireballs are pointless as everyone just flies through them.

Every character feels the same you either play rush down and bet on a lotto ticket since near everything is a 50/50 or die pretty quick.

Why does this game feel worse than it's previous iteration? No excuse of SF 4 took years to get good non-sense. This is right after SF4 and was made while SF4 was still being played. Something about the gameplay doesn't feel like a street fighter game I can't quite put my finger on it.

Why the hell capcom released a half ass game.. i paid for all modes to be unlock not some, i pay to play all challenges and go in the shop why the hell do i have to wait???

#49
Sonson said on February 17, 2016 at 9:36 p.m.

I don't really understand the problem. You were obviously going to buy the game either way. Even if the game is "unfinished" or whatever, all this content will be available for free in the near future. You bought the game as it is now, which gives you time to get your bearings and try things out until the new content is available.

You could choose to wait for several months until all the modes are added, and then buy the game, but at that point in time, the people who bought it now would have access to the same content either way. Why is it bad buying it "early" if it lets you try things out in advance?

I could understand being upset (and rightly so) if all this content and modes were paid DLC, but that isn't the case. If you buy the game now, you've effectively "bought" all the future content as well since it won't cost you a single extra cent upon it's release. And again, I know you want all this content now, but it isn't ready yet. Aren't you at least glad you can play the game as it is right now instead of waiting more months to play?

#50
Eternal said on February 17, 2016 at 10:16 p.m.

This is kind of misleading. It isn't really 7000 challenges any more than saying that a character has 96 crouching attacks just because they can perform them vs every single character.

#51
ScytheWP said on February 17, 2016 at 10:36 p.m.

It is bad that you have to pay 60 dollars for the incomplete version. Simple as that. If Capcom wanted to justify a rushed and sloppy release then it shouldn't come out at the full retail price.

#52
Sonson said on February 17, 2016 at 11:25 p.m.

But again, the only difference between buying it now and buying it later is that you get to play it now and not later. If the game was going to be released in, say, June anyway, then what does it matter if you pay 60 dollars now or in June? By June, all the story and mode content would be added for free, and the game would be no different than if it were a "full version" released in June anyway. All this means is we get to play the game early and get used to things until the "full" version (ie. all the story and mode content) is released.

spman2099 said on February 17, 2016 at 11:26 p.m.

Don't buy it until you deem it complete, then. The rest of us who like playing fighting games will be perfectly happy playing without you.

#54
tombradylosttoascrubquan said on February 17, 2016 at 11:37 p.m.

Terrible attitude get it you like street fighter but supporting unfinished games is just idiotic dude

#55
spman2099 said on February 17, 2016 at 11:51 p.m.

Everything I play fighting games for is finished. I have zero interest in the game being delayed for single player content. That stuff is going to come out at the same time either way. If it is important to you, wait. I really don't care. All I know is I like playing good fighting games and this is one of those.

#56
spman2099 said on February 17, 2016 at 11:56 p.m.

Feel free to keep playing it.

#57
R0llCall said on February 18, 2016 at 11:02 a.m.

The purpose of this game is to fight people and try to beat them.

You can currently fight people and try to beat them

....sounds finished to me.

Not having more than a couple modes and challenges in its current state =/= unfinished

#58
pegotaku said on February 18, 2016 at 11:17 a.m.

The only challenge that seems tough is "Stun Recovery," because it's completely dependent on your opponent. If they're screwing around, you might recover before you get hit, but it seems like a 99/100 deal where you'll be tagged before you wake up. The rest are super simple, though.
