Frame data for Street Fighter 5

Posted by John 'Velociraptor' Guerrero • February 17, 2016 at 2:05 p.m. PST

The FGC's favorite modder, Dantarion, has mined the frame data for the final version of Street Fighter 5.

Not only will this index page give you access to the final release frame data, but also the betas so that you can see any changes right down to the frame.

Knowing a character's frame data is invaluable as it allows you create set ups, know exactly how safe moves are and give you an overall understanding of said character that's rooted in inarguable realm of math.

We've provided links to each character's full page of data below.

The pages can be a bit hard to read at first because directional inputs are represented by numbers as they would appear on a key pad. Following this rule, "5" means the stick is neutral, "2" is crouching, "8" is airborne, "3" is down+forward, "6" is forward and so on.

Birdie
Cammy
Chun-Li
Dhalsim
F.A.N.G
Karin
Ken
Laura
M. Bison
Nash
Necalli
Rashid
R. Mika
Ryu
Vega
Zangief
You can check out Dantarion's Boxdox v3, where all of this data came from.

I'm with Ryu here.

Numbers may make up the universe.. But I know kung fu.

(Uh for us less-literate fighting game players.. What does 5lk mean compared to... 2lk? How do I read this and understand what I'm looking at?)

Some of that data is incorrect and yes I saw the "Air moves and complex multipart moves will have incorrect data. That is because my scripts treat each part seperately, so any "on hit" or move that triggers differently depending on ingame variables will be wrong." text at the top of the site. Some of the single hit stuff that is grounded is incorrect.

Ryu knows Ansatsuken, not Kung Fu. For shame on your lack of lore knowledge.

If you're on PC, all frame data is quadrupled.

Durant31 said on February 17, 2016 at 2:25 p.m.

Took me a while to learn it too. The numbers refer to position of the joystick/direction pad. Look at a number pad on a key board and it will make sense. I put one below tho so other newbies can get it too.

789
456
123

i.e. 4hk for Ryu would be his Axe Kick (back and roundhouse/hard kick)

Aint no way! cuz that is crazy punishable lol. I can't even test this out myself as my pre order copy from amazon isnt even here yet.

thats anime game language dude.... it references your numpad if your on the 1p side... example 2=down 236= fireball motion etc....

you can get the digital version of the prima guide and it will update each time capcom updates the frame data but its not free... it $5 btw

Durant31 said on February 17, 2016 at 2:46 p.m.

Hey has it shipped yet? They express shipped my copy and mine was delivered. I thought everyone else would have been straight by now (I ordered standard copy). Make sure check with Amazon and ask for timeline. Seems you have to harrass them this day and age...

Has anyone compared the Dantarion's data with Prima guide's, to see if there is any difference b/w the two?

#23
SolidDespair said on February 17, 2016 at 2:53 p.m.

According to this frame data, Ryu's st.MP leaves you at +6 advantage on hit, and his cr.HP has 6 frames of startup.

So, st.MP > cr.HP is a 1 frame combo?

I highly doubt it, because I can do this combo very easily (and I suck at combos). So, am I reading this wrong?

It's a univeral way communities use to communicate move information across many oldschool fighting games often avoiding confusion. For example refering to HK as Roundhouse or how do you indicate neutral moves, just-frames, etc.
Being able to understand it (or not) is probably a sign of our age.

#28
Graque said on February 17, 2016 at 3:21 p.m.

Yeah, either something is wrong or I'm not understanding it either. It says Ryu's 2HK = sweep is only -3 on guard, which would make it a fairly safe move. But it's actually very punishable.

On the other hand this page has it at -11 in beta 3, which is more reasonable.

sdstig said on February 17, 2016 at 3:29 p.m.

There's a 2 frame buffer for each link. So a 1 frame link becomes a 3 frame link, 2 frame becomes a 4 frame, 3 frame becomes a 5 frame, etc.

It's in the game to make links easier. So yes, you are hitting a "1 frame" link every time.

ChickenWingRecipe said on February 17, 2016 at 3:36 p.m.

THIS FRAME DATA HAS TO BE WRONG! FFS im just gunna buy the guide.

#31
mechmaster90 said on February 17, 2016 at 3:50 p.m.

What is the "yobi" or "RC" version of some moves ?
Also, looking at Cammy's frame data, her 6HK is definitely not -9 on block, it's -2.

That would make it unsafe on hit

Don't worry guys, I'm going to make my new improved v1.1 frame data available probably in a few hours. I've used some of Dantarion's stuff(active/recovery) data in my spreadsheet. That stuff I couldn't figure out from video analysis. My stuff is a little more accurate than his. I also have things worded properly and not in numpad notation. I'll tweet it out when it's done. Shouldn't be too much longer.

shy_cass said on February 17, 2016 at 5:59 p.m.

this is standard fighting game notation

look at the 5 on your keyboard (num pad) and look around it

---8---
4--5--6
---2---

so 8 = air
2= down
5= neutral and so forth

common sense, just learn the damn universal notation instead of bitching, crying and demanding it to be spoon fed to you. you'll be better off, trust me.

I think the data for ryu is a little funky. Doesnt make alot of sense. The data on dhalsim seems right from what ive tested in training but im gonna take ryu to the lab and see. It says his
St. Hk is plus 6 on block. And that his cr. Hk is only -3 on block. Sounds fishy to me. His cr. Hk has 7 frame start up. Seems you could do st. Hk into cr. Hk on block for a hard knockdown with crush counter. Seems like a super frame trap and pretty safe. Probably push you far enough away for any punish to connect....

#64
Sasuga said on February 18, 2016 at 4:43 a.m.

Apparently, you just checked it and didn't bother to post your findings. Why does it always have to be someone else?

While I like the FAT tool it currently has some inaccuracies particularly for the advantage figures. I have found vframes to be more accurate. It still isn't 100% accurate from what I've seen in the prima guide but is closer than FAT. FAT has been updated to be more accurate (still a bit to go though) and also contains information on what moves can cancel into so is still worth picking up as well but if you had to pick one then currently I'd recommend vframes.
