That Shadaloo stick....
UGHHH..... UGHHHH..... AGHHHHHHH!!!
I'm so sorry, that's never happened to me before.
Yo both the TE2+ and the TES+ look so sick! I'm liking the artwork and look of the TES+ a bit more as it reminds me of the original TE and just looks plain awesome with that shadaloo logo :D . I already have a PS4 compatible stick but I'm deff thinking about picking up that one for sure! Also, thebfightpad looks great, and the fightstick alpha looks alright for beginners although it reminds me of a toy with its size. Nice job from the guys at mad catz from the looks of it.
Not sure how I feel about that button layout on the pad.
that was exactly my curiosity.
I really like the TE2+ and TEs+ sticks. they look amazing but I love my TE2 Rivals Edition stick still the most :D
Hmm, looks like the second stick from the initial design of the FightPad PRO is now gone.
Looks like it'll be $120.00 for me to jump into this Pad generation.
Hopefully you get what you pay for, because that's a substantial bump from the last generation of pads. 💸💸💸💸🤑🤑🤑🤑
I'm more than happy to pay, as long as they are DS4 quality! The rubber depressors had better not be wearing out 100x faster than 1st party pads!
Give me quality and I'll buy a truck load of these things!
It seems that the answer is YES, it will be compatible with PC:
https://twitter.com/MarkMan23/status/...
That's a great news.
Nah, don't hold your breath for Sanwa quality parts on the Alpha. This is MCZ's answer to the Hori Fighting Stick Mini, which also uses stock parts.
Shadaloo stick is boss but never was thrilled with the price range on these sticks.
Can Capcom please make PS3/XB360 sticks useable for SF5? They did it for the PS4 version of USF4... I really don't want to throw down another $250 for a new stick when I have perfectly good ones. I've already had to buy new sticks from PS2 (MAS and Tekken 5) to PS3 (2 Madcatz sticks).
Shadowloo stick looks sick tho...
Because some people were using their old fight pads and that's a no no. Last time they simply used cheap and easy to break parts. They're making sure this time around no one is even able to use it. I think version 3 fightpads will have the dpads on the reverse side of the pad.
MarkMan is answering all sorts of questions over at r/Kappa:

He confirms that the Alpha uses lesser than Sanwa parts but also easier to mod, which puts it at an advantage over the Hori mini.
touch panel my ass. give me buttons, thats it. thx
that shadaloo fight stick is legendary. nuff said
Why did you take away the right analog stick from the fightpad?! I wanted the original design from the fightpad pro with both analogs this way it can double as a regular controller. Also the left analog looks too close to the D-pad and seems like it would get in the way.
What on earth is the logo on the white fightpad? I have never seen that before.
I like the stick with the Shadaloo emblem, but the picture on their website is showing feet on the bottom which is really weird for a fightstick.
Those feet are going to dig into your legs when you play. I hope they put rubber padding on the bottom instead or just leave it bare.
Ryu gloves
And still no update on different panels like the Type-N
Does anyone know if there is a "bat top" alternative to the joystick for these? I can't use that ball top joystick for the life of me, so my TE2 for SFIV has been gathering dust since the time I've bought it. Thanks in advance.
D pad looks awful, give us four buttons dammit
I agree with this!
Also even though this will technically work on PC there's no way it will support xinput which will make it a pain in the ass for most games on steam. You can either fumble around with x360ce or get a mayflash converter to make things easier. Most fighting games on PC do support Dinput pads though.
It's the Fūrinkazan. It means "wind, forest, fire, mountain." It's a reference to a phrase from Sun Tzu's Art of War: "As swift as wind, as silent as forest, as fierce as fire, as unshakeable as mountain." It was used on battle flags back in Shogun-era Japan.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fūrinkazan
The Fūrinkazan has been part of Ryu's iconography since at least SFII. The words were on those breakable wood banners from the Suzaku Castle stage. They've been written on his belt and gloves too. The writing on his gloves is a simplified version.
Good to know! I understand Bang Shishigami a bit better now.
$200 for a TE-S+? Ridiculous. The Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai has the exact same features, including the touch pad, for 50 bucks less. I really don't like where the control panel is located on the stick either, takes up too much space and it's too close to the buttons.. That's just sloppy design imo.
i agree, i love my round 1 TE but when i found out my gf had bought me the PS4 TE i made her take it back straight away, double the price i then paid for the hori RAP4 which I much prefer
I really don't see the point in the trackpad on the stick, considering there is no current or clear application for it in fighting games. maybe in DOA? lol
I love fighting games, and I have two fightsticks but this is overpriced to say the least. To each their own if they want to pay 220/200 for a stick. I want to see some other offerings from competitors and I don't care about licensing and pictures.
They're not available yet. Taking only preorders for now.
Unfortunately preorders won't be available for EU until early 2016. I'll update everyone once it's ready.
- yeah but i cant even pre-order. i get an error message.
First year im getting a Hori instead. LOL madcatz jacking up the prices on the poor fgc.
THAT'S WHAT Ryu Has ON HIS GLOVES IN Other Words THIS Is THE Ryu FIGHT pad.
L1 and L2 are mapped to PPP and KKK by default, so no. It should be R1/R2 as is.
Any bat top should work, they're pretty interchangeable. I would recommend not spending the extra money on these overpriced sticks though.
The Hori PS4 with a trackpad is is $80(!) cheaper, and frankly fits on my lap better.
The PRO pads have more buttons, not less. Six face buttons, but it still has the four shoulder buttons too.
Yeah. Glad I paid a little more for my hori vlx and less for my rap4 Kai.
Thanks for for the link. But I meant for actual Madcatz TE sticks that has battop on them already, instead of balltops.
my first stick was a hori v3 that i bought for $40 back in 2012. i absolutely loved it, it was reliable, the lever and buttons weren't sanwa parts but they continue to work to this very day after 3 years of heavy use. this past summer, i saw the new "rivals" edition of te2 being released and i loved the art and white design, only problem is it cost $200. after many days of contemplation, i decided to upgrade, why? because i wanted something nicer than the v3 which i can't emphasize enough was a great purchase for the price.
so i ended up buying the te2 in summer. looking back on this past year, i really regret purchasing that stick. the first problem was when i signed up on madcatz website for alerts when the stick would be open for sale, notifications never arrived and i had to check on someone's twitter to find out the stick was available. second for those who know what i'm talking about, the plexi wasn't very good. i heard previous te2s were built of a thicker plexi that was held in beneath the buttons. the plexi on the rivals stick was loose and thin plus for those who know what i'm talking about, had strange bubbles forming beneath the plexi. i may sound crazy but i actually started missing my hori lever and buttons over the sanwa parts. eventually ended up trading the stick for something else on srk and haven't regretted it since.
I have a love hate relationship with MCZ's SxT SD pad. I love how it's lightweight. The face buttons are easy enough to press and....
Okay who am I kidding? I like the controller enough. It's...manageable. Firstly, the D Pad needs hours to break in and even then your inputs still come out wonky. I feel you have to be very familiar with the D pad's temperament or else you find yourself jumping while doing a half circle input. It also doesn't get better with more use.
The face buttons are fine and responsive, but after a month or two the rubber in the face buttons tear, making your button presses stick and follow up presses to be less to non-effective. Alas, it's the best fightpad you're going to get on the last gen consoles. oh, and it's ridiculously overpriced.
I wanted to be more positive and constructive talking about this but I can't be. I am annoyed with the product and I hope this new pad will address old issues. Within the past 3 years I've bought 6 or 7 of them, each suffering from the same afflictions causing them to break down. I've replaced and modded parts when the controller stops being effective, bla bla bla. I'm over it. I'm f*cking over it.
I'm actually looking excitedly in Hori's direction with their Fight Commander Pad:
Almost been a year and this controller is still getting great reviews all across the board. Interchangeable shoulder buttons, a D Pad that can be adjusted for motion inputs, designed so you can use your non thumb fingers on the face buttons, etc. Also the price doesn't make me flinch. 50 bucks is worth the price of a SOLID controller.
I don't use a stick. I never will and I think madcatz needs to accept the fact that there will be new players to come when SFV arrive, and many of them will be wanting to play on non-sticks.
Hori did an excellent job keeping up with the growing fan base with their evolving peripherals. I hope Mad Catz follows that example.
Thanks for the info. I kinda prefer madcatz sticks though, but am leaning on looking at other brands this time around.
Some fighting games utilizes the pad in menus and navigation. It was necessary for some things in MKX like switching aspect ratios in online versus which is done with the pad meaning you had to activate your PS3 controller to switch then activate your stick when your ready to fight, that was annoying.
I'd like to know about the plexi on this new model too. From an Amazon review of the current model:
"Madcatz, in the Killer Instinct TE2, used a 1/8 inch plex to cover the art. These new sticks is a 1/32 inch PLASTIC. It's almost like a film. It's super thin and too reflective to do your art justice. It scrapes and scratches easily. Worse yet, this plastic sits around the buttons, not under. What does this mean. 1) The plastic can easily slide around a bit. 2) Without buttons creating a seal with the plastic, MOISTURE can get trapped under the plastic. How could moisture get under the plastic, you ask? Well...apparently Madcatz is keeping these sticks in some hot, beachside warehouse, because you'll get your stick with moisture included. I have 2 friends with TE2s and this very same problem."
Hope they address that with this new model, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
didn't markman announce an updated version of the te2 sticks that eliminates the panel issues? would be pretty stupid if they didn't have the improved panels for the new sticks.
why are they twice as expensive as the TE1 ? it's not like the TE1 was made up of cheap parts or broke easily...
@Markman
You can't be serious?! The TE2+ cost 270 Euro?! And the shoulder strap is not even included.... Not that i would buy it even if it would be. But if someone is willing to pay that much, wich is not the majority, at least put SF:V, the shoulder strap and some replacement buttons or something more than an allen and a philips screwdriver in it.
If you compare the prices to the TE1 its at least 120 Euro more. Im willing to pay for engineering and improvements but its way over the top. Like this i prefer buying new buttons and a controlunit and ill buy Street Fighter V for my PC. I was thinking about an PS4 but everything together is a fortune just to play street fighter. And yes i know i would have surplus value products wich doesnt matter since i just want play street fighter.
I WAY prefer all buttons on front if it's a Street Fighter I'm playing. It's a bit of a muscle memory thing. Some games, like Tekken and MKX feel better with a standard configuration...I'm speaking personal preference, of course.
I may get one of these pads because all I have is a PS3 MCZ Fight Stick Pro and can't count on Capcom to install that compatibility driver just yet. I don't trust adapters.
I'm not buying this fightpad because they changed the design and took away the right analog stick. I wanted this to be my ultimate controller so I can go from fighting games to other games without switching controllers. This was to replace my old fightpads that are wearing down. They listened to everything I requested for the controller on the preview fightpad pro. It was perfect. 4 shoulder buttons, 6 face buttons, dual analogs. Now I'm staying with my old fightpads and using the titan one adapter. Does last gen to next gen and next gen to last, no lag, updateadeable. Best $60 I spent.
I was also going to buy it when it had a 2nd analog, and use it as a second controller for other games. I use a pad for 360 motion characters only. Not enough usage to justify 60 bucks.
As a backup plan, does anyone know if its possible to cancel a pre-order and get a refund on a game on PSN before its released?
I can't play fighters on a pad and if they don't support PS3 sticks I definitely cant afford to buy another $200 stick right now.
Just planning for what may come....
I bought the Chun Li stick and it shipped right before these were announced. The Chun Li stick DOESN'T have trackpad functionality. Which has some minor affect in Ultra. Yeah I feel kinda hosed. I would have waited and ordered one of the new sticks had I known the difference.
It's not a super huge deal in Ultra but if V needs the touchpad, then yeah, that seriously sucks.
my first stick for x360 was the te by mad catz. i've never upgraded it and used it till recently. it's still working nicely. now i'm on ps4 and moved to hori v4 pro. i didn't regret the change to hori. mad catz has become overprized.
as a friend noted to me: did you see what the japanese pro players use? they don't use mad catz. even team mc members use hori at home. think about it.
he surely did have a point there.
I refuse to pay 200 for a stick I can't use on xbox one and ps4. That's crazy. If Capcom doesn't make ps3 sticks compatible, ill just get the pc version
Get yourself a Titan One adapter. Best money you ever spent.
I have that Hori pad. Though it hasn't seen much use, since I replaced it with a Dualshock 4. It is a really nice pad. I have had to open it up and clean the d-pad connections. Since it took a lot of pressure to register. But worked like new afterword.
The old Madcatz pads have some bad reviews and hope these new ones fix the problems. I am also not sure about the low placement on the extra 2 face buttons. We'll see.
Even though I love having 6 face buttons, I'm not sure I'd switch from DS4 though anymore. Since 3rd party controllers don't have the reliability and you shouldn't have to replace them multiple times if you don't abuse them.
Does anyone know if you can pre order that chun li bundle from gamestop in stores?
Or it's only threw online only~
