Capcom Fighters has just released balance change videos for Ryu, Blanka, Evil Ryu, M. Bison, Cammy and Gouken in Ultra Street Fighter 4.

Combofiend goes through several of the character tweaks made to each fighter.

I wonder if these videos were made a while ago, he is pretty carefully stating stuff that made it into the arcade version but nothing that was in the console port only so far.

Ridiculous, cammy is now useless. You can't even combo correctly after a cannon strike.
Regarding the current recovery, you are also completely owned when this is on block.
Also, this hooligan to cannon strike is also useless since it ends up with the useless cannon strike.

Bison's Teleport got nerfed. Oh well. All characters have been altered. Deal with it. They changed the height restriction. She can still combo off of it but now you can't combo by hitting someone on top of the head. If you're a good cammy you will be just fine.

His crouch tech is still pretty bad and won't be able to safe jump and apply pressure as consistently after his godlike sweep with DWU. 7 frame ex tatsu was actually better because the invincibility lasted longer than every other non ex uppercut; now it will trade more often with mp srks and tiger uppercuts. He's better, yeah, but Yun, Makoto and viper got three times better. I would've liked a 3 or 4 frame crouch short, 4 frame far lk for more punishes, lp palm to hit even farther, close mk to be a command normal for anti airing and punishes, and some guard advantage on his jabs or close hp. Maybe even a two hitting horizontal ex fireball (or have three levels of charge that do one, two and three hits) , +4 jabs on hit for a link into crmk, or his his ssf4 parry. But looks like they're wrapping up changes. He'll be fine, but not equipped to handle the USF4 big three.

The Biggest problem I hear is that once you have 3 Bars the Red focus crumble is pretty Lame. Basically you get an ultra off a simple hit confirm. Even if it is scaled it will be very painful against low heath characters. Thought we wanted to stay away from these one hit kills and let a match play out.

I still cant believe what they did to Ken, they nerfed a mid tier character, even NGL Chris said: why pick Ken now? with the latest changes he might switch.

Thanks Capcom for ruining this character, you promised Ken was going to be competitive, and you even nerfed the japanese arcade version one, which the japanese themselves never even considered high tier.

Im a Ken loyalist, and im not going to switch, so im done with this game, not going to buy.

Im also sorry for all the other character loyalist Capcom just destroyed.

Learn to plink crLP - crLK for crouch teching. Pretty sure there is a video of xian explaining it if you've never done it.

3F crLP basically gives you a 3F crouch tech now if you do plink teching. Only disadvantage is it doesn't hit low.

Of course if you play Gouken in AE2012 you should be plinking crouch tech with crMK right now anyway. 4F startup and blows up many dive kicks.

Yeah, balance changes my ass. I'm not buying this game with Capcom nerfing a mid-low tier character I used to play even more based solely on the opinion of Capcom-Unity 1500pp scrubs and Combofiend's personal dislike. I'm looking at you, Gief, you've been a good friend, but it looks like it's time to part our ways, there's no love for grapplers anywhere in this world.

Interesting. It seems Capcom didn't nerf cammy too much but that's a good thing because you saw what happened to Yang. I see they made sure not to go overboard this time with the nerfs. Rather than lazily nerfing to hell, they choose to properly balance. Good stuff Capcom.

Either way health is definitely the least useful thing to buff. People are making a big deal out of a roughly 5% health increase. There are other high damage characters, but at the end of the day tools>health.

I find it funny it that all you tier hos. That ride the list are complaining about your changes to this on or that one. If i remember correctly they said that this was going to be better balanced game. You should have expected that you constant spamming of the same move because it has a fast startup or what even the case maybe boils down to mashing out wins.. waaaaaaa get over it learn to play without a God move

It is to make his corner pressure less effective. Honestly, it is a change that only affect you versus some grappler. And again, you have some footsie tool that can bully them.

The -1 on block is a minor nerf. The EX PC damage nerf is more annoying in my opinion.

Great, they're planning on making Ryu more gimmicky than Blanka.

EX DP > FADC mostly useless outside very few scenarios. You'll be better off spending 3 bars on red focus FADC anyway.

The Master of shoryuken´s....oh wait - the 2 shoryu´s with most invincibility are four frame. The are better Dp´s in term´s of invincibility in other character´s.

And don´t forget this is his trademark move....

The Master of kick´s ... oh wait - that first Knee hit on the tatsu´s are so "great". Furthermore the second hit of medium and heavy, in some character´s the last one, wiff´s. Nice.. The damage output

That sweep, that crouch medium kick - the hurtbox in front of the hit box.

Master´s of speed - oh wait.... i now the step kick... but i not enough.

Master´s of combos - oh wait... Ken have a ton of opportunity´s to land ultra, even after a ex move........ fail
That target combo, that i cant´link form any crouch move. And in combos gives the same damage and stun that crouch heavy punch, and is more slower in term´s of start up.

Ppl i now that he have some cool e good moves, but are not enough for tournament´s.

I don´t want a broken Ken, but i want a well-defined Ken. Not zonning, i dont want fireballs buff´s, leave that to Ryu, that is his trademark style and move.

Furthermore i am not complaining about Fadc -5. I understand a need for that change in the game.

I am complaining about this sf4 serie´s Ken. What is him?

Sh*t buffs I tell ya. No Faster Fireballs buff , teleport, hell they probably didn't even fix the F+Mk > EX tatsu on Balrog. Or the missed Combo link on blanka I told them about. When blanka is crouching Cr.Lp > St.HP don't connect.

Man...I just had to look to see how many people would be complaining about their characters. What happened to people playing their character because they liked that character? It still boils down to playing the game doesn't it? You still have to do all you can to make sure the person's life bar is down to zero don't you? My point is, you're overreacting. Hooligan>Strike will be useful as a mix up tool. In case you haven't bothered to learn her set ups, Hooligan>Throw already makes for a pretty sweet vortex tool. Add Strike, you could be looking at extra combo potential and a possible answer to reacting to Delayed Wake-up. Who knows, Hooligan alone might become her best set up.

Not to mention the damage nerf isn't even that harsh.

I'm aware of the option, but any inconsistency in that plinking is the difference between a three frames and five frames, easily the difference between trading with a frame trap or just eating a counter hit setup. I'll be practicing it, sure, but I'll probably just stick with cr.mk

I agree. cr. mp into fireball will be a great tool for footsies, probably better than Ryu's (cr. mk into fireball) since cr. mp comes out faster (I think). Also, he has so many more combos now. cr. mp into light palm / fireball fadc cr. mp/hp into regular or EX palm. cr. lp x2, st. lk, EX tatsu, fadc U1.
I wish I play this game often like I used to because his buffs make him more dangerous

DWU affects Yun very little, because none of his combos lead to a hard knockdown. It only affects throw setups, and Yuns will find a way around it.

You're underestimating how strong red focus will be on Yun. With meter, Yun can stick out far mp just outside of hitting range and buffer red focus. If it hits, free ultra. If it whiffs, no risk. He can hit confirm shoulder into red focus easily, too.

This, coupled with his insane meter-building ability, means that Yun is an enormous threat with three meters, and an even bigger threat with four. Yun has some pretty ridiculous resets off a focus crumple, or can choose to get some solid damage with those +10 damage mps. Yun's top three in Ultra, I promise.

You can't cancel the far light kick after jabs. His cr.mp is okay, but definitely not better than Ryu's. It starts up in the same speed, but recovers a little faster, but the combo window into fireball is a little limited. He can do counter hit cr.mp into sweep or counter hit cr.mp, cr.lk xx lp palm or ex tatsu now, which is neat, but Gouken could've used one or two more defensive buffs.

What version i skipped? I stood up with this sf4 Ken since vanilla, i complain because i dont understand the character design, its horrible, i mean why they never choose to make him competitive, while they sure can, i mean even canon Ken is supposed to be fast(He is the slowest shoto...), a combo, rushing and srk heavy character. In this(and all past ones) version he is none, and cant do anything very good.

Capcom after 5 iterations, promised a competitive character for everyone, they made JAP arcade ultra Ken, which in Japs opinion was mid tier, note even high, and yet they nerfed him AGAIN?! Pleas explain me that.

I mained Ken since SF2. But SF4 Series now has Vanilla, Super, AE, AE2012 and now Ultra, Ken never won anything, the only version which he barely rose to high tier, lasted 6 months...

As a Ken player im annoyed in how badly they handled this character, Capcom is lazy as expected, and they never gave him a unique style, he is supposed to be a bad mix of everything at the price of huge risks.

Then you wonder why i complain? This is the only character in the series i really like, and they ruined it for 5 years, i paid for all the past versions in disc format, and yet you expect me to not complain? As a customer is my God damn Right!

A majority of the people asked for combo into sweep and a walkspeed increase. He got both of those and kept them as of the last console build.

Explain what you mean by nerf? Leaving his cr.MK like AE2012 is not a nerf.

The SRK FADC -5 was given to everyone with a DP. Mind you he Kept FADC on the second attack on block with both Akuma and Seth lost.

His air tatsu escapes? Another system change Sakura, Ryu, E.Ryu, Akuma, and Oni all have that as well.

Won a major? You're being unreasonable now.. neither has DeeJay or Blanka. Momochi has won a major with Cody a considerably worse character than Ken.

Dud, u will be satisfied with usf4 ken. The cr.mk buff looks crazy good. His walk speed buffed and his long range overhead is even on block. Just play ken as a in your face poke character to wear down your opponent then start to play dirty with kara throws and uppercuts once u can show u can put up a safe barrage of pokes while u work them to the corner. I believe his sweet spot is maximum cr.mk range.

They made Ken a better fundamentally grounded fighter which was much needed.

The sweep got nerfed back form JP arcade, the japanese said that Ken was mid tier.

Cr.MK got nerfed too from jap arcade, yet the japs said he was mid tier.

Fadc on second hit isnt a big deal, even then is easier for the other players to know they can punish easily the back dash or front dash, they might aswell start buffering their attack inmediatly.

If not for NGL Chris, Ken right now could not be even winning weeklies.

Please don talk about having the same moves than in AE 2012, Ultra system changes hurt him a lot, having the same moves is not an a step forward.

Ken has lowsy combo potential, horrible footsies, cant rush down as good as many of the characters getting buffed, bad damage, even for viable fadc combos, predictable mixups and crossups, one of the most punishable fireballs in the whole game, etc... His style is undefined, he is mediocre at everything and really bad at some things, he doesnt excel in anything, and his character design, differs a lot froma canon and what you can expect from Ken being an a SF fan.

Having the same moves from AE2012 hurts a lot of characters more. Abel, Vega, and Makoto get hurt by delayed wake up a lot as well.

Japanese arcade build is not even final, it's clearly a beta so any changes they make from Arcade to Console are not a nerf if it is placed back to AE2012.

That would be like complaining about E.Ryu's sweep getting changed back to 7f when it was 6f during the AE2012 Alpha build.

You're not entitled to a top tier character and why would it matter anyway? They could change the tier lists around with buffs and nerfs the same players are still getting top 8 at tournaments using midtier characters like Rufus, Ryu, and Balrog.

Japanese arcade version had Ken with the most and most substantial buffs to footsies, the japs after months of training were not impressed and classified him mid tier. After that, they nerfed Ken even more, which i dont understand at ALL. Yes he had some abusable stuff, but most competitive characters do, i dont see anything wrong in there, specially when they still said Ken was still mediocre.

E.ryu?? really?! E.Ryu has way more tools than Ken, a lot of damage potential and way better footsies, and now his real weakness which was stamina is getting buffed almost to Ken's level.

And those players would still win, because despite not playing top tier, they play very solid characters that don take so many risks, which Ken is none, thats why no Top player would pick him, even Momochi is playing Juri, now NGL Chris which is a better Ken than me and you both is thinking of switching, so its obvious that Ken is even worse than 2012.

I dont get it and thats why i complain, i dont want top tier Ken, buy maybe high or a solid amount of tools to make it tournament viable or have a strong style, Ken is nothing right now, doesn matter how much you try to think otherwise(which i also dont uderstand, when its pretty clear Ken is Bad) i will still complain, i stood up with this character for a lot of time and versions, and this being the final i was hoping for a refreshed character for a change, what do you know, if they see players complaining they might reconsider, i mean i lose nothing in trying, for a change they could care and us Ken mainers could get something in return, or atleast making Capcom care for this character a little more, which happens to be one of the most popular.

Because you seem to be talking about players dropping him when the fact is Momochi dropped Ken because of delayed wake up combined with his ex air tatsu nerf, they are not going to take delayed wake up out of the game and his ex air tatsu was changed back. Momochi also switched to Juri because no matter what they do to Ken, they made Juri too strong in the JP Arcade build (even PR Rog is going to use her) who knows what she will end up like in the console version.

You also didn't get the E.Ryu analogy. But whatever

Should have talk talked to combofiend tell him to give Far st.hk has a command normal B+Hk and St.Hk *Cl.St.Hk* to 7 frames and make it good for anti airs, this also good for new combos Example St.Mk into St.hk 1 frame link as well as another poking option. Then also should kept the walk speed the same in the Japan build.

It was posted on Srk forums also its seem NGL chris mentions it on twitter still slightly faster than AE but not faster than ryu which what ken most requested for.

I won't complain until full change log since this hasn't been confirm by combofiend except cr.mk reverted which i agree should have been taken out though should have posted my feedback kind of regret it now, i feel some changes are lacking to improve his character design.

I will still play Ken in Ultra (even though I'm really bad)... It makes them few victories over Cammy players so much sweeter.

The Gouken changes seem like they're well thought out. I'd have liked a tweak to his counter, but that's probably asking for the moon in combination with the current slate of changes

I remember when all the gouken players were complaining about his changes, saying they are all useless and gouken still sucks. Funny how things look better now on video than reading on paper huh?

Im glad for you, I just wanted justice for Ken after all the SF4 versions, sadly he is still a bad designed character with no solid style. I hope you enjoy Ultra, i know im done with this game and Capcom.
