Tiers reset and archived for BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, 1.1 patch released today

The 1.1 patch for BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma was released today, and since this update featured major balance changes, we've reset the tier listing for the game here on EventHubs.

The previous scores and match up voting have been saved and archived so that they'll always be available for our readers to refer back to.

Along with balance updates, the patch added enhancements to the challenge and training modes. You can find the entire rundown of changes on Dustloop's Wiki.

Mini FAQ - Why the tiers were reset


Question: Why did you reset the tiers for BB:CP?
Answer: Because the match up data was no longer accurate considering the heavy amount of balance changes that were made to the game.

Question: How often will you reset the tiers for games?
Answer: Rarely. Usually only when a new version of a game comes out, or if it receives a balance patch which heavily alters the roster. In some instances, we may reset the tiers of a game if things have evolved heavily since it was initially released, but this will be a very rare thing.

Question: What happens to the old match up data when you reset the tiers?
Answer: It's archived and made available for everyone to view right after a reset happens.

Question: I don't like this approach, and I have something to say about it.

Not gonna change sh*t. Kokonoe/Valkenhayn/Azrael still top tier, Amane/Bullet/Makoto still bottom tier. What's the point of such insignificant changes when there's a huge imbalance in the first place ?

Kokonoe and Valk can be tier all day, they just can't be easy herp derp mode(which Kokonoe was).

If a character is top tier and hard play and master, I'm down for that.

We'll be expecting this for ultra. No matter is part of the fun of a fighting game. I can't wait to see people's opinion in this matter cause I want to get my hands on blazblue, I'm just waiting to finish school tomorrow to get it.

Valkenhyn isn't top tier anymore, and Azrael wasn't top tier before the patch. Amane and Bullet got a lot better, bottom tier is Makoto/Tager/Kagura now. Nice try though.

A significant damage nerf for Bullet doesn't make her better, and the Miquelet capture and blackout buffs are kind of minor... I know I lost 500-1k+ damage on my bullet corner combos :(

Still gonna use her though.

Interesting to see you apparently know exactly how the tiers have changed despite the patch not even being out for more than a day. Kagura has probably improved if anything, since he actually has a neutral game now. The changes in the patch are so new we can only really speculate exactly how the tiers have shifted, so I don't think you can speak factually on this matter. The only things we know for sure now are that azrael is probably top tier, kokonoe is still top tier, and makoto is bottom tier.

And if you're talking the opinions of arcades, the tiers are so fast and loose at the moment it's just a few characters in top tier and then everyone else.

I have no idea what damage nerf you're talking about? very few of her moves had their damage lowered (5B/6B) and the rest were increased, some by a lot. Does your combo start with a jC? Because jump-in P1 was nerfed from 90% to 80% across every character in the game, not just Bullet.

Terumi, Izayoi, Kagura and Kokonoe all received major changes from the patch. Most other characters received few changes and some not at all, it's easy to tell how it affects them. Litchi barely changed at all and is therefore still top tier, Hazama lost quite a bit of damage but still has all of his tools so he's still strong, Valkenhyn got major nerfs to wolf meter and back dash so he isn't anywhere near as strong. Tiers will shift around of course esp. with Terumi and Izayoi, but this isn't rocket science. Some of these changes are really obvious.

I just got into BB:CP last week and haven't had time to play it much. According to Arcadia, Azrael, Kokonoe, and Litchi are top and Makoto is dead last all by herself. Would you agree with that and would you say the game is overall more balanced now?

Frankly, Izayoi still sucks.... Amane? He got better by thx to his 5C.(I really like this buff) but he also still struggles bad match ups(Cant win against good Jin, Tao, Litchi players... Kokonoe is exception. She is still too powerful.)
Arcadia's rank comparison is kinda dull because it really didn't point out the reasons that why this char is bad or good.
The point is the balance patch really didn't solve every problems.

I'm just happy to see 2 things.

1. They're are other Bullet mains other than me #TeamBullet

2. They buffed her move set (Most notably her change to 5C which I love!!)

Overall. I'm happy with the patch.

Her drive damage was lowered about 400 dmg, and my most damaging corner combos begin with her drive. That's not a better character. Have you played 1.1 Bullet yet?

Tager is still bottom.

For the people wondering how anyone can know how the tiers shifted already, this patch has been out in the Japanese arcade version for a while now. It's just new on console.

love that you're archiving the old tiers! hope to see more and more games added.

maybe even a "classics" section with older games could be added at one point too. it'd be nice for EH to become a definitive tier database.

Overall yes, 1.1 is absolutely more balanced than prepatch. Arcadia's tier list is more of a "statement" than an actual tier list though. They're saying that power level is much closer in this game and everyone is viable, but Makoto has to work super hard now. Tager is definitely comparably bad to Makoto, but everyone's really mad that Makoto got big nerfs for no reason.

Her drive damage was lowered because they got targeted by the same universal P1 nerf from 90% to 80% as everyone else. It is really weird that more drives than just jD got hit, but to be honest you shouldn't be missing that 400 damage. Level 2 Drive is still an incredibly good tool and her general toolset got greatly expanded. She is NOT worse in this patch, not even close.
