How is Chris G not on the notable players list? Anyway, I'm gonna miss finals because of a concert, but oh well.

Ahh, didn't see him in pools. Let me add him into the mix.

The first tournament in a while, where I am more hyped for MArvel as opposed to Street Fighter.

#10
nusense said on May 10, 2014 at 2:13 p.m.

FGC poverty, plus it seems like there's an event going on almost every other week now. Only evo\ceo\scr\ncr\ and final round bring in international players to the states.

#11
spotlesseden said on May 10, 2014 at 2:28 p.m.

pretty sure last week's northwest majors had international players. More than North Cal regional. KBR is in this one, he is international.

#12
nusense said on May 10, 2014 at 2:38 p.m.

Ncr this year didn't bring in many international. But in the previous years it always had pretty good comp coming to ncr. This year NWM step it up and brought in players. Before this year, It was fchamp rent money.

So they stop streaming marvel at what they say is pools. Now they are up to Top 8, but instead of showing quarters and semis they stream DOA?

Many characters look the same in MK lol. It is worst than SF and people complain about decapre?

#19
DunnDeal said on May 10, 2014 at 7:38 p.m.

Are you seriously comparing UMK3; a game 1995 to SF4 - a game made in 2008-2014? Wow....just wow

But on another note, UMK3 was hype as hell

#20
FADCTAUNT said on May 10, 2014 at 8:38 p.m.

Damn flux choked hard last couple matches

#25
EMP_FecalMatter said on May 10, 2014 at 9:27 p.m.

back in the early 90's, when the MK guys didnt have enough space to put in completely different sprites for new characters, they created clone ninjas that played differently due to them having different special moves. now looking at MK9, not only do they play differently but they also look different.

now in 2014 we have Capcom still making characters that have a dp, tasu and fireball. AND they all wear the same uniform. whats the difference? a few frames here and there, maybe a different command normal. so yeah... making another clone isnt a very popular idea.

so no... it is not worse in UMK3... a game made around 20 years ago.

#26
rocorolly said on May 10, 2014 at 9:38 p.m.

Yup Sakura, Gouken, Gouki, Oni and Dan look and play exactly the same. Holy hell, why is it that just cause one dude says something ridiculous, people take offense and gotta one up it? Also just putting that out there ST's cast was very diverse as well, so yeah.

#27
EnsignHiro said on May 11, 2014 at 12:07 a.m.

Wooooooaaaaah

what street fighter 4 have you been playing? Pretty sure ryu ken and akuma do not have the same exact moves down to the t ( they look similar but they arent exactly the same.). If they were then why does akuma destroy both of them meta game wise?

#32
triplethreat99 said on May 11, 2014 at 6:46 a.m.

Now that it's not only East Coast, Smug has no chance whatsoever of winning.

#33
rocorolly said on May 11, 2014 at 6:59 a.m.

Gouki looks like 20% like Ken and Ryu tho. The only thing they have very much in common and that's if you use their regular costumes (and with good reason) is their gi. In terms of gameplay let me see Ryu and Ken's air fireball pressure, or teleport escape, their demon flip into 4 actions and dive kick. Those are not small tweaks those are major move-set differences, and all that stuff I named for Gouki if another character shares them, I'll be able to find just as much move-set differences between them. In my opinion the only two characters that look kinda the same and have a very similar move-set is Ken and Ryu, and it's been that way since 1987, and even then in SF4 they are still very distinctive. No one is looking at and playing the two and sayin is that Ken or Ryu?

Nevermind apparently its been playing on the second second stream and I just freaking missed it. I didn't notice there was a 2nd stream because Eventhubs didn't embed the streams like they usually do. Why didn't you guys embed the streams?! So pissed right now.

#40

They are embedded. And they have a stream list with viewer count, too.

Joe is one of my favorite people in the community but sadly the stream wasn't for me.

The only thing I anticipated was AE, but I watched the whole saturday and AE started at ~2AM in Europe and ended about one hour later.

Actually Catalyst, I should be in between Zaferino and Alex Smith, so i should be tied for 13th

#58
Catalyst said on May 11, 2014 at 7:04 p.m.

According to the bracket, you finished tied for 9th actually.

Unless the bracket got completely flipped around, you got 9th place. Did your part of the bracket get changed?

#59
Catalyst said on May 11, 2014 at 7:06 p.m.

Quick explanation. Rico Suave lost in the 2nd round of winners bracket of top 32, putting him one win away from top 8 in losers.

Since Rico eliminated you, you got 9th.

Unless that part of the bracket got massively rearranged...

I appreciate you following up here though. We aim to get everything 100% accurate, but we mess up sometimes, and people letting us know in the comments is a good way for us to make the necessary fixes.

Once again, thanks for the heads up.

Marvel grand finals were sickening.
