How to select the same character three times on a single team in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

First, things you'll need:
A USB drive formatted to FAT32 and compatible with an Xbox 360.
A Hex Editor, preferably HxD: http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/

Step 1: Insert USB stick into Xbox 360. Create new Marvel 3 save data on this USB stick OR transfer/copy existing save data over. Save data is tied to account so if you want this to be on a separate account, create a new account and sign into it when creating the save data (preferably on the USB stick so you can take your shitty teams anywhere!)
Step 2: Open your license card and create 3 pre-set teams. Make the first 2 characters Ryu and Morrigan, and the third characters will be whatever characters you want to find the "hex value" for. Just choose the first assist because you can change it in-game later. Exit the license screen and wait for the Xbox 360 to finish saving.
Step 3: After the data is saved, plug USB stick into your computer. Open Horizon with the USB stick plugged in and open the Device Explorer. Navigate to the "Games" folder in your USB device, expand "U. MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3", right click "SAVE DATA" and Extract the "game0" file somewhere on your harddrive.
Step 4: Open the "game0" file that was extracted with HxD. In HxD, you want to Ctrl+F and search for the hex value "01 00 00 00 0F." "01" in this case is Ryu, and "0F" is Morrigan. These codes correspond to the pre-set teams on your license. There should be 3 sets of these hex values, corresponding to the 3 pre-set teams, each with Ryu and Morrigan in the first two slots. The third value will represent whichever character you put in third. Because I'm lazy, I didn't figure out all the values for all of the characters. Replace any of the values with the values of the characters you want on those teams, being careful not to change anything else except the 9 2-digit values that correspond to characters. Save the file with HxD.
Step 5: Open the "game0" file with the UMVC3 Save Editor, then save it. This fixes the file becoming corrupt if you attempt to use it as-is.
Step 6: In Horizon again, open the Device Explorer, expand the "Games" folder, expand "U. MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3" right click "SAVE DATA" and choose "Inject File." Navigate to the edited save file and inject it, choosing to overwrite the existing save data.
Step 7: Plug USB drive into Xbox 360.

At least it's a soft hack and not a glitch that would most likely be tournament legal for some reason. UMvC3 is already enough of a tranquilizer.

Thanks Catalyst for promoting game hacking to get people banned from XBL/PSN.
Surprised you never covered the savestate hack people were using a couple months ago to unlock all the herald colours (something that can normally be done legitimately anyway).
Hopefully we can get a step by step guide article on how to hack infinite life and stuff like that for AE online on PC.

I could be wrong about this, but I'm going to venture a guess with how synergy works in UMvC3 and say that having three of the same character on your team is less than optimized.
There's probably some ridiculous combinations I'm missing here, but if you guys think this is a free win button... you're probably pretty far off.
MvC2 had the ability to select the same characters three times, through various means, and it didn't change much in their landscape.
Again, we'll see where this goes, but putting three Morrigans on the same team isn't going to open any doors for people. You'd be much better off coupling her with Dr. Doom.
Same is likely true for almost the entire cast, but maybe there are some exceptions out there.

Also, to those implying that this is cheating are incorrect. Its also unbannable, as its simply editing the save file.

Desk posts game-breaking bugs pretty regularly yet people aren't all up in arms.
The sky ain't falling relax go about your normal business. Marvel ain't broken beyond repair.
UMVC3 has "game breaking" bugs introduced once every 6 months and people keep playing it.
Everyone freaks out and it ends up being no big deal.

Yes this is close to what I was getting at in the last post about this, in MVC2 you'll almost never see someone picking three Magnetos, or three Sentinels, or one Storm and two Magnetos even though the option is there so I find no reason to believe that this will be abused, maybe for the first few weeks after the discovery but after that it should die down very quickly.

I won't lie, I am going to use 3 Dr. Doom's, and use each one with a different assist.. I am going to do this in just player matches though because I don't think it would be right to cheat in ranked. But Online Player matches I don't think people would mind. They would be like "HOLY COW HOW YOU DO THAT!?"

It would be nice if someone could find all the character values too see if you can add Galactus also would be nice to find color values too see if you can use the gold heralds that you see if your using a herald color against the same character in the last arcade fight oh and to use Magnetos alt.

i didnt really care about this till bryan smacked talked eventhubs and snk and i actually felt bad for bryan with that whole video thing because it looked like he was kinda bullied, but now that its found out im glad because he's such a little brat that for no reason hated on these cites, and lets be real "if this thing about fighting games gets put on a fighting game website then ill never show it. hows that for an ultimatum" he needs to get over himself i've seen some immature things in my day but some kid who hacked/ not glitched / hacked the game, tries to brag about how he did something anyone could do be hacking. so thank you guy who found this out, and i hope bryan feels real dumb. I'd like to note i have no interest in using 3 people on my team, but i've used eventhubs since 2009/10 and visit this cite everyday. Thank you for everything eventhubs, and hopefully something bad happens to that kid again.
