According to the leaked video on AOL, Tekken 7 will reportedly be running on Unreal Engine 4.

"With Unreal Engine 4, we can rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it," Harada was quoted as saying.

"Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it also allows us to bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire."

I'm excited. Though here is hoping that this game plays more like Tekken 5 rather than Tekken 6 or TTT2, not saying they're bad games just I wasn't as into them. Tekken 5 might honestly be one of the best fighting games ever.

I still wonder why Yoshiro Ono will be on stage to help announce this alongside Harada. TxSF might not come out but maybe Ryu and a few SF characters will make it into this game? A new SFxT update (one of those plebs that enjoyed SFxT but lol let's see how that would go over at EVO, here's a hint; not well)

Calling it now!!!

StarGladiator VS SoulCalibur!!!!

Hey a guy can dream. :P

I want to see footage or a trailer before getting hype... just announcing the game with a logo pic is a bit anti hype

Thank you finally a legitimate Tekken title in the horizon would much prefer this over Tekken x SF. Been several years since T6 and didn't like TTT2 at all and Revolution had its own problems.

#33
Yogensha said on July 13, 2014 at 10:16 a.m.

What does the engine say about a game in itself? Absolutely nothing!

Look at GG Xrd for example, would you have known that its running on Unreal? Probably not.

Also, Tekken is unpopular? No game at EVO could be considered unpopular, the only thing thats unpopular is your twisted, uninformed opinion.

#34
LeonX said on July 13, 2014 at 10:16 a.m.

I loved Tekken 5 and Tekken 5:DR but hated Tekken 6 and TTT2. If Tekken 7 is anything like Tekken 6 then I'm not interested.

#36
KarbyP said on July 13, 2014 at 10:18 a.m.

I am rooting for that, for sure.

Also hoping that actually the Tekken 7 image is a COMPLETE fake/troll logo that Harada and the Tekken guys purposely "leaked", and that the announcement is actually for TxSF.

How hyped would that be?

#37
Aluppoj said on July 13, 2014 at 10:19 a.m.

Happy for Tekken, but what's the point of doing it before SF and with Ono?

Huge letdown for people hoping for TxSF.

Hopefully UE4 means this is getting on PC, Tekken has always sported some of the best graphics among fighting games and it'd be about damn time the platform saw some Tekken. With the game being developed on UE4 the port should really be effortless.

Time to tweet Harada-san!

#58
KleenexGhost said on July 13, 2014 at 10:45 a.m.

Ono being present does lead me to believe they'll at least give some information on the status of TxSF.

But still really excited for Tekken 7!

#59
Devdan said on July 13, 2014 at 10:47 a.m.

Tekken Tag 2 came out in September 2011 in arcades. Tekken 6 was 2007. I think it's been long enough.

...that said, yeah, I definitely wanted TxSF. I like Tekken fine, but I'm super garbage at it, and prefer VF even if literally no one else who speaks English does.

tekken 5 doesn't have bound.

#65
Dracos_Wrath said on July 13, 2014 at 11:02 a.m.

Tekken 6 added the bound system (slamming the opponent into the ground and being able to continue it). It made combos longer and easier to perform, the main reason most players didn't like that much T6 and TTT2.

I'm really hoping it's gonna be on ps3 as well as ps4 because I don't want to buy a ps4 yet, but if it's next gen only and looks good enough, this just might be the system seller I need to go ahead and get a ps4.

#74
JiCi said on July 13, 2014 at 11:22 a.m.

If true, for real, I wonder where he'll take the story (yes, that can matter for some players). IMO, I'd like a little more focus on Lars and Alisa... simply because Jin's story has become a total joke.

Would you have accepted it if Ryu would have gone corporate just to remove the Satsui no Hado from his body? Of course not. Same thing here. Jin took his obsession for removing the devil gene WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too far, and the whole family matters just became out of control. When even your great-grandfather wants to kill you, there's a problem.

I'm not saying to remove Jin, just to put someone else as the series lead, someone we can actually care for.

Then again, if each and every character gets a story chapter where EVERYTHING about their past, present, future, motivations, rivalries, goals and achievements is revealed and addressed, that would be great... and it would be a great tutorial to play as the entire roster.

I have to point out that many users of this site can not read or process information logically. For those saying it was going to be TxSF, why?

If you go back to the original article it says Harada was going to make an announcement before Ultra Grand Finals. Why would this be related to Capcom when every major Evo announcement has been before SF grand finals? It makes sense that an announcement would come when most people will be watching and not after the event.

Then those saying Ono would be making the announcement with him on stage. Where does it say that? The article said that unrelated Ono would be there to greet fans. It makes sense that for the first Evo for Ultra that Ono would be present. Nowhere did it say that Ono would be on stage or that he and Harada were making an announcement but everybody was saying it was TxSF for sure and now they are disappointed.

Very few people read and use their common sense on this website as demonstrated by the comments. Its sad that most see information and interpret it not for what it is but what their mind wants it to be.

Idk about this. The video with Damon was very simple, the guy is usually hype or at least slightly hype. He seemed quite out of the ordinary. The footage was from previous games and we only got a title screen. Idk I don't trust this news.

#81
enkil said on July 13, 2014 at 11:42 a.m.

It was just an inference. Just like when you see smoke, it is reasonable to conclude there is fire, even if it is not certain.

#82

Mopz said on July 13, 2014 at 11:43 a.m.

LOL, and now the video has been brought down. :P

Just wishing that Harada and co. grew some huge balls like Netherealm Studios did and cut some from that roster of characters which don't get usage anyways.

#84
SeriphAngel said on July 13, 2014 at 11:45 a.m.

While this is great news I find it a bit disrespectful and rude to Harada. Harada is known for taking his fans very seriously and for someone to do this is like a slap to the face and wrong. And also knowing Harada he "may" make his feelings known on this matter if this news is real. He does not tolerate bull crap when it comes to his child (Tekken).

Probably it will be a 3D game and probably it will have mechanics like Tekken.
Is a game great only if Ryu appears?

#87
Dracos_Wrath said on July 13, 2014 at 11:59 a.m.

They're gonna keep crying for TxSf and when they realize that it plays exactly like Tekken they'll either drop the game quickly or once again not put their money where their mouth is.
