Aquaman can land a whopping 13 MB Trident Rushes in a row if he has a full bar to start - Injustice: Gods Among Us

Posted by Steven 'Dreamking23' Chavez • July 8, 2014 at 7 p.m. PDT

Aquaman's Meter Burn Trident Rush attack in Injustice: Gods Among Us is...pretty good.

If you don't believe me, maybe EGP|Wonder Chef can convince you. Earlier today he uploaded a video that shows off some of the potential that this particular Meter Burn special move has.

Wonder Chef first shows us that one MB Trident Rush deals a whopping 14.29% of chip damage when blocked. But that's not all; the Injustice player goes on to demonstrate how much meter can be built by having the opponent block this same move repeatedly.

Aquaman builds enough meter to hit 13 Meter Burn Trident Rush attacks in a row. This can only be done if Aquaman begins with a full meter.

You can check out the footage below.

And here I thought the game wasn't patched enough.

What are you talking about? This has been known about since the beginning of time. Someone just decided to make a video about it.

Hmm... Ah... Mmmkay.

So far you seem to be the only one who knows about it in the comments section. If it was known about since the beginning of time why did they leave it in?

I already knew that ! Now I'm depressed.

So how good is this really? I mean I've only watched injustice but I've seen this move used quite a bit and in corner situations. I don't know how easy it is for big body characters to escape something like that, but can anyone give a rundown of the in-game significance of this?

"Aquaman can land a whopping 13 MB Trident Rushes in a row if he has a full bar to start - Injustice: Gods Among Us"

What can't he do? He's the most powerful character in the game! Really need to nerf this guy. Not a fair character

So if you have full bar and your opponent is stupid enough to just sit their and block, you can kill them with a full bar of meter with little effort. That makes so much sense.

It's a good move for pressure but can't just be thrown out recklessly. As long as a combo is ended in the trident rush you'll pretty much be safe from any counter attack after it, the whole thing needs to be blocked in order for it to be safe.

I've been using AM since the game came out and yeah this move has always been good but I feel that only until this year with Theo's great success using AM and the trident rush to chip people's health and build meter has this move started to become known as a really good tool.

MisguidedAngel said on July 8, 2014 at 7:56 p.m.

Because hardly anyone on Eventhubs plays Injustice regularly? Go back to when the final patch came out last fall, and see how everyone was flabbergasted that this move wasn't fixed way back then. The Injustice community has always known about it.

#13
MisguidedAngel said on July 8, 2014 at 8 p.m.

And it wasn't fixed because a) it's not a glitch, and b) people didn't think it was going to be quite as dominant as it turned out to be way back then

I don't know much about Injustice, but is this at all practical? It seems like the MB version is probably punishable/unsafe already. Not to mention that the other person can spend a meter to pushblock anyway. Also would've liked to see how much meter Lex gets from blocking all those Trident Rushes, too.

For whatever reason, when I saw "13 MB" I thought, "13 megabytes" and I felt really dumb XD

He has home turf advantage... did you consider that? did ya?

War_Machine_27 said on July 8, 2014 at 8:11 p.m.

Yes it's extremely practical, I don't know of any move that can make this move unsafe if the whole thing is blocked. People usually pushblock before it's meterburned because they suspect the person using AM is going to meterburn it and it builds alot of meter anyways so you can't really go wrong with this move as long as you don't throw it out at a range where the whole move can't be blocked.

LOL, not at all haha. I think this is the first time I've seen "MB" used as Meter Burn, so us techies, well... haha

MB Trident Rush is completely safe when spaced correctly, which is very simple to do because you can dash forward and backwards while doing the attack (as you can see in the video.)

It also leaves Aquaman too far away for the opponent to even get free pressure.

The problem with pushblocking it, is you spend meter for it on the 5th hit, which is already over 5% chip in. So you are either pushblocking the first hit and spending a bar at no loss to your opponent, or you are pushblocking on the 5th hit so that both players spend a bar, but Aquaman gets 6% chip + the meter build from those 5 hits already.

In case you didn't know, pushblocking in this game takes an entire bar.

"Aquaman can land a whopping 13 megabytes..."

"a whopping 13 megabytes..."

"13 megabytes..."

"How the hell do you land megabytes?"

So, yeah, you weren't the only one.

This is to promote Aquaman and the others, Very good book. It doesn't need to be patched no one is going to block and do nothing no one can't be that stupid. He is still the best character in the game.

I've always been a little on the fence about moves that cost meter building it, not to mention how in injustice/MK, the main way of getting meter is having your attacks be blocked. This is sort of the most offensive example of both.

LEx can punish it with a stand 1 combo if AM didnt space it correctly and if he did space it right he can do so with corps charge.

#28
Wonder_Chef said on July 9, 2014 at 6:22 a.m.

No, if spaced correctly Corp Charge can't punish it at all.

RonaldRogan said on July 9, 2014 at 6:27 a.m.

This has always been in the game. You can push block this, too. That said, still pretty broken and abusable for chip damage--and does even crazier damage if it hits.

Tom Brady just covered this in his Injustice Footsies tutorial, which, basically explained just how dominant Aquamans footsies are and why he is the best footsies character in the game..I felt like it was more of an Aquaman tutorial then a footsie tutorial and he blasted on the character I wanted to main :(.

I hate that damn move

Clamper said on July 9, 2014 at 4:11 p.m.

Yeah you have to push block it. Even so the Aquaman player gains a bit of meter and you lose yours. This move is too good and this has been known since the release of the game, don't know why people are only talking about it now.

Yeah, I have no clue why the author didn't just say "meter burn". My first thought wasn't meter burn either despite me figuring it out pretty quick.
