And they still haven't fixed Cammy's ex spike or found a purpose for medium kick spike.

Ultra looking good so far, liking most of the changes. In one of the earlier versions Abel had a little extra advantage on blocked Wheel kicks, I hope they add that back.

Why did they lower the damage on Sonic Hurricane again? Adding 30 damage to the Ultra won't make it any better.

Would have liked to see some changes to Gouken's Kongoshin though, preferably back to only high/medium and low.

Are you serious? -5 on FADC means less defensive options, so it will actually be easier to apply pressure. DP -> FADC was never intended to be used offensively imo, and it turned out to be stupidly good.

I like this change personally. An invincible move shouldn't grant you an ultra on hit AND a mixup on block.

#34
lordrockman said on January 30, 2014 at 7:43 a.m.

i dont get the ex red focus being the same input as normal red focus! shouldn't it be different input if they each cost different amounts of meter!

#38
Emersion said on January 30, 2014 at 7:46 a.m.

Cant believe they removed all the good buffs from Vega's previous ultra sf4 iterations (cr.lp,cosmic heel and EX-ST), but proceeded to keep te nerf to EX-RCF and gave him some minor buff like that super.

The super is 3 more bars to do 120 more damage than an EX-FBA with a more difficult to maintain charge after wich we lose our bnb's for a while.... so only a round finisher at the most.

Things were looking up for the matador, but it seems that in the end, i guess they like him where/how he is.
I was fully expecting him to lose the EX-ST invinibillity, but to remove more buffs from him and keep the EX-RCF nerf seems ridiculous.

Most characters while not able to fadc a dp can fadc other special moves that can extend a combo or continue pressure ..examples are bison knee press, codys criminal upper can be fadc in into more combos and cont pressure....rush down character like fei, adon, and cammy will be reduced to turtles on a beach sand...

Nah, people just need to learn how to fight Oni. (Not even top players know how to fight him - just watch Sanford playing Oni at
Apex. Nobody was properly punishing Oni's unsafe normals/specials.)
He's not that great of a character. He has weak defense/wakeup options...most players just need to learn the matchup.

Guy's changes are gonna seal the deal for him being my main.

They didn't nerf sakura too hard, and they gave her some buffs too. She should be okay

As for Yun, the nerfs aren't too harsh but then again he didn't need any nerfs to begin with.

Why would they nerf deejay's EX mgu? aren't his reversals risky enough? Though hearing that it will launch the opponent higher on hit might make it easier to land the dash ultra. Also, when are they gonna reveal the 5th character already!?

#77
G0dmqsteR said on January 30, 2014 at 8:41 a.m.

They always manage to go overboard with the nerfs / buffs. Vega needs a little help, but they don't wanna help him; and the nerfs on Cammy are too strong. You don't need to nerf her damage AND her recovery AND her advantage. They also really need to increase the speed of Chun's jump. In the air, she's a sitting duck. And WTF at all the Oni buffs, he's a beast already in AE.

#78
MetalxHealthx said on January 30, 2014 at 8:41 a.m.

Evil Ryu needs 950 HP? lol ok... I've been playing Gen since vanilla and he does not have that damage potential, has to use meter for invincible DP which he can't FADC and has no fireball or easy routes around fireballs without meter yet he has 900 hp... sorry to bitch lol but that Evil Ryu list is looking scary, there's not one thing they could nerf after all those buffs? I mean thats only 50hp less than normal ryu arnt you kind of missing the point of an "akuma like" version of ryu capcom?

#79
Gurpwnder said on January 30, 2014 at 8:42 a.m.

Looks like they haven't really helped Dan where he needs it most...again. He doesn't need his Ultra 1 to break armor, he needs his combos to be less character specific, c'mon now...

Also, anyone know what making sweep and HK axe kick 1F faster do for E.Ryu?

#80
diehilde said on January 30, 2014 at 8:43 a.m.

Sry but no. I have been playing more against oni than pretty much any other char in the game and I know all his frame data and how to punish his moves and still he is a very strong character. Do you seriously suggest players like daigo, kazunoko etc. didnt know how to punish oni in topanga? Watch the sets man, they got beat legitimately. Now Sanford is another story, he really won because of matchup familiarity issues, but that explanation doesnt work with wao dominating topanga like he did. And now they wanna give him Srk fadc, buff his fireballs (and fireball ultra), buff his sweep, buff his medium sekisei (which due to pushback will now be unpunishable for a lot of the cast who dont have far reaching 4f stuff), buff his fwd+mk (which also buffs his already good kara super), and buff his slashes (which really doesnt matter, but still)...

Stop assuming only scrubs that dont know how to counter slashes and air dash shenanigans lose to oni. Oni is a very strong character already and all those buffs combined with nerfs to other top tier will put him over the top for sure. Combofiend shouldnt put his character loyalty over balancing the entire cast properly.

#81
djm0001 said on January 30, 2014 at 8:43 a.m.

you act like the entire offensive game revolved around blocked DP -> FADC, I think this is a very fair change and makes these situations so much more balanced for ALL characters.

#83
djm0001 said on January 30, 2014 at 8:45 a.m.

This game is looking to be really balanced. Not sure why people are complaining so much about Yun, I think his changes look fine...Two of his most common used normals are getting damage buffs, this will add up huge over a round and seeing it on paper doesn't really show how big of a change this if. Tailor your gameplay to fit these changes and start practicing your defense, aka don't get knocked down. If he is really THAT bad I'm sure they'll correct this after the location test. No doubt that Yun will get plenty of gameplay

#84
G0dmqsteR said on January 30, 2014 at 8:48 a.m.

I agree, Evil Ryu's health is fine where it is, especially when they're buffing him in other places. The sheer damage potential he has offsets his low hp, giving him as much hp as other weaker-damage characters is silly.

#89
mvegetam said on January 30, 2014 at 8:54 a.m.

The lack of changes to make kogoshin have a better counter hitboxes for gouken is puzzling to me considiring the demand for it.

Whats more puzzling is people wanted a better wakeup options for rose..
and what they did to ex spiral? remove the 11 frame throw and strike invincibility to only strike inv..and increase the recovery for U2 by 2 frames..while i think she's better in USF4 it's only slightly.

I do not call that listening to feedback

what Vega buffs? They took everything away. I agree that with all those buffs he would've been to strong, especially considering the delayed wakup mechanic + nerf to DP FADC but they just took everything away, all of it. Thanks Zeus.

So many whiny b*tches, some of you probably suck anyways, why bother complaining.

I play makoto and honestly that ex fugukie is too powerful...easy wake/reversal option probably can beat a Dp too

I don't think they changed Rose enough
- Increased BNB damage - Cant complain

The other changes are miniscule and the throw vulnerable spiral hurts.

She basically stays as is I think

for the most part this looks pretty balanced. although dp fadc being -5 might be too much. basically regardless if you use 2 bars it or not you're still not safe lol i'd have to see it in action first, but sounds like free punish to me.

Most of Chun's buff were retained so i'm happy. i didn't really like the ex fireball knocking down anyway. A faster jump animation would be great tho...

E.Ryu got everything he needed.

Oni... Didn't really need dp fadc lol He was already fairly strong without it.
