Share your tier lists for Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012, look up other user's votes

TheUncharted has been hard at work giving our users the ability to share their tier lists for individual characters in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012.

Now, if you want the world to know how you've voted in our tiers for SSF4 AE v2012, it only takes two clicks to accomplish.

Also, it's possible to look up other user's votes — and you can also opt out of having your tier lists be viewable. For the complete rundown, hit the jump.

To get started with sharing your character match up list, simply head to the voting page for a fighter.

Near the top of the page, you'll see text indicating how many of the match ups you've voted for, for that particular fighter, and you'll see a "Share this!" link on the right-hand side.

The page keeps track of how complete your tier votes are dynamically, and gives you a little prompt to share when you've reached 100%. Here's a screen shot.

Clicking the "Share this!" link will take you to a page which displays your votes, and from there you can either share it on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or grab the URL to send it to whomever you want, by clicking the respective buttons up at the top.

Also on the share page, you can compare how your votes stacked up against the majority of our users.

With this change, you can also look up a user's votes for a particular character, for example, you can find my votes for Rose here.

The key is changing the structure of the URL to match the user you want to look up. E.g. changing this...

http://www.eventhubs.com/tiers/sf4/share/?user=<username>&char=<character>

Into this... http://www.eventhubs.com/tiers/sf4/share/?user=Catalyst&char=rose

All you need to do is change the username here to one you want to look up, and then the character as well, and you can find someone's tier list votes.

If you're more private by nature though, we've given users the ability to opt out of sharing, and you can do so by editing your profile and checking the "Disable sharing of tier results:" box, and then saving your changes.

If you run into any troubles with this new system, or have questions, please let us know in the comments below.

Whoever does these edits for EH news post images really really needs a pay raise and props from the whole staff. Always entertaining.

As an FYI, whomever wrote the story is often responsible for the image that goes with it. We're all somewhat handy with image editing software.

Thanks for the compliment, though! Very nice to read.

Next we'll be launching the index page for SSF4 AE v2012 tiers, if everything goes to plan.

This page is going to have some... very killer bells and whistles for people to keep tabs on how things are changing in the match ups and with the characters — constantly.

I don't believe anyone else has ever done this with a tier list before, and I think people will be checking back daily to see what the latest breakdown is.

We're already at work on this new section, and it shouldn't be a long time before it's available to the mass public.

Looks awesome guys :)

Catalyst when you got a second please check your PMs. I sent you one and I was interested to know what you think

I kind of wish that the matchup slider went in 0.5 increments... some matchups are too close to call 6-4, but one character will still have enough of an advantage to where it's not really a 5-5 either. I think it would lead to a more accurate list in the end

Catalyst said on February 11, 2014 at 8:46 p.m.

We heavily considered .5 increments, but it added a lot of complexity to the interface and people's votes as well.

In the end, we settled on a more simple approach in favor of making the tiers system a little less painful to use.

I do hear where you're coming from though, and there are certain match ups I wish I could vote as 5.5 instead.

Sorry, I'm a bit backlogged on PMs at the moment, but I have a big note in my to do list to tackle them in the near future.

But catalyst,

If you're constantly banning and rebanning the same scrubs who post some hater stuff and really go too far overboard, what makes you think these tier list won't be manipulated by them?

By the way, when you gonna create a separate tab to show all your staff with pics (prefer sf4 vs render style like gootecks and m.ross), a little background and your favorite games. It be nice to know who you guys really are.

G and Ross pic. Check it out. Quite cool I must say

Our tiers section automatically detects troll votes and weeds them out, so we should be safe from those people.

As far as the avatar suggestion, it's not a bad one, but commissioning an artist to do those might be a bit of a stretch on the site funds.

Hey catalyst I've noticed you haven't posted any comments in the last while, hope you got some time off. The amount of work that goes into this site, I'm sure it requires a lot of dedication.

Don't put yourself on Ono stress leave any time soon

Oh! Is does the troll list work that any matchup that is considered way off hilter like if I posted a 9/1 in thawks favor against sim or something, maybe you can cap the max someone can lopside it to be somewhat within reason, ie, maybe a 6/4 cap for the matchup or 7/3?... Interesting. Could be totally wrong but it got me thinking about how it all works

Smorgasboard said on February 11, 2014 at 10:26 p.m.

There are only 5:5 and 10:0 matchups according to Mike Ross. 0.5 increments would be even more ridiculous.

Ibuki mirrors are an 8-2 matchup in favor of the lesser-skilled player Kappa.

I know you guys put a lot into this community tier list for ae 2012 but with ultra around the corner wouldn't this info be kinda useless? Should you focus on a game like marvel first cause it's less likely to change soon? Great job regardless!

Mathematically speaking, a balanced character should look symmetric, something like these scenarios:
Favorable - Even - Unfavorable
13 12 13
0 39 0

According to Eventhubs' member tier voting, this is what the data looks like sorted by symmetrical balance...

1. Rose- 14 10 14
2. Oni- 11 16 11
3. Gen- 11 15 12
4. Vega- 15 9 14
5. Abel- 14 9 15
6. Ryu- 13 14 11
7. Juri- 13 10 15

17. Cody- 3 17 18
18. Guy- 7 12 19
19. Rufus- 19 6 13

It won't go to waste because eventhubs has the infrastructure to do tier lists for UltraSF4 in the future, they simply need to add the 5 new characters.

Also, I am pretty sure that the folks at Capcom may peak at this in some way to confirm some of their findings for the final build for ultra in addition to the location tests. This is a more empirical way to see the "people's" voice.

I hope to hell Capcom doesn't look these results to get feedback for USF4 balance, the sample size on here is way too small for that. Plus at the end of the day, these tier lists are nothing more than opinion and can be very subjective from player to player.

i hate when capcom decides thru voting only because the majority of this place only catters a limited amount of audience. they also should use there rational, common sense things on deciding how to make the game fair for everyone else since they have already gather so much data from different version of sf4 not because the idea is single out then it is a problem. the winning key on sf4 is it was not only voice of particular set of people but it has alot of involvement when everyone was giving there ideas out... ssf4 was good and nice enough. i hate hate when i hear any debuff/nerf news on anything. things should just be buff and just remove brokeness abusive, glitches stuff but not advantage of every character.. an SF game should feel FUN to play( thats what people first impression on tekken games stuff) it should t making things COMPLICATED or HARD...for casuals, scrubs and fanboys.im not saving to change the gameplay there no problem with the gameplay of sf but i dont like nerf stuffs on game techs this small nerf stuff offen alienates fanboys, scrubs and casual IMHO.

I think I agree with Mike Ross' philosophy - it's either 10-0 or 5-5. Either you beat them, you don't, or it's even, in perfect play.

etrotman said on February 12, 2014 at 9:52 a.m.

Either way, Capcom has looked at these results indirectly because these same people put their input in the Capcom unity form that Rosas set up, and they picked the "best" changes from their and weeded out some undesirable changes. They probably left out some good changes too... At a minimum, they would look at the raw data , and then draw their own statics like I did above...

If they did a similar voting to ehubs, but limited it to only the top 100 pro players in the world, I am suspecting the statistics wouldn't come out much different. From seeing pro tiers in the past, the top 10 and bottom 10 line up to what the FGC says it is.

What would differ if you asked only pro player input, is HOW the implementation of nerfs/buffs would be done. So if they considered only pro input, what you would end up seeing is only a subset of the current changes , plus any additional changes that the pros would want that haven't made the current cut. I am guessing currently, the changes are a mix of these improvements come from pro players, and the FGC itself.

Pro players couldn't fully do a full survey because there isn't necessarily a top pro player that mains each character on the cast. I would actually take the input of say an online player that has played Hakan for 4-5 years and is dominant (say 4500 PP), than Infiltration's hakan who he beat PR Rog with. There are certain nuances with hakan that a mainer knows, that the counter pick pro would not IMO. I am terrible at Honda, but there are a few counter picks with honda that I have beaten a few pros main with, some counter picks are just that easy.

I respect this project and all, I think it's great, but I think if I were eventhubs, I would prioritize getting up-to-date frame data for the game on the site. I mean really, you've still got pre-v2012 (or maybe even pre-AE?) data up on the individual character pages (e.g., Ryu's HP uppercut doing 2 hits). Of course, I'm just speaking for my own personal tastes. To me, frame data is more important than tier lists...

Mike Ross? Is that the same guy on the ESGN show who opted out of going against Ryan Hart's Sagat because it was in his best interest to do so?
