Pac-Man's Side+B can be used as air recovery move; move set and Meta Knight's Customizable Specials in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS detailed

Posted by Cheng Kai 'KarbyP' Sim • August 21, 2014 at 10:59 a.m. PDT

This week's issue of Famitsu magazine has the in-depth details to Pac-Man's special moves in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS, and the good folks over at Kantopia have once again taken it upon themselves to translate all the juicy info for fans looking forward to the Nintendo party-slash-fighting game.

Between Famitsu's move list and the E3 character reveal trailer, it is now possible to piece together tricks and fight tactics for use with Pac-Man in the actual game.

For instance, Famitsu reveals that Pac-Man's Side+B special move allows him to travel in a straight line towards whichever direction you're currently holding the analog stick in -- similar to Pikachu's Quick Attack -- which means it can serve as an additional air recovery move, on top of Pac-Man's Up+B.

Other than Pac-Man's move list, this week's Famitsu also shed details on some of Meta Knight's customizable special moves, as well as on a few of the game's stages.

In the trailer we also saw Pac-Man team-up with a homing Galaga fighter to juggle an airborne opponent around the time code 0:47.

As potent as that attack combination may sound, it would appear that players would have to first hold down the B button -- Pac-Man's Neutral Special: Fruit Target -- for a good amount of time to generate the Galaga fighter, before such a combo could be utilized. This seems to greatly limit the effectiveness of Pac-Man's Fruit Target move, since you'd have to be charging up for a short amount of time each time you'd like to summon the Galaga fighter.

Question for EventHubs readers: Which of Pac-Man's moves have you intrigued? Does Pac-Man strike you as a tournament-viable character at this point, given what we know about him?

So nothing new? Aside from the Bowser head in Paper Mario.

Really really really hope customized special moves can be set-up quickly and the competitive scene at least tries to work with them. The radical difference going on should make for some compelling match-up and stage-specific choices.

Oh yeah and few custom moves.

I also hope the scene embraces the customizable specials.

I'm genuinely shocked you guys don't have a story about the roster leaks. Whether they're real or not it seems like the type of information this site was made for.

Anyway Pacman seems quite cool and I hope to God that Metaknight's priority was nerfed.

Do you have anything on that other page with the Dark Pit teaser in the end? I have yet to see that one translated.

Meta knight still has great touches even in customize.not a lot of moves in the game expressly target shields, but one that hits multiple times and can pass through? #SakuraiBalance

In Brawl, DK's headbutt would take away half the opponent's shield on block.

Ah, I see. The text in the lower-right corner doesn't really say much. Basically the magazine editors are wondering if Dark Pit would make an appearance in the game somehow, since in the artwork you can clearly see his silhouette.
