Kickstarter launched for Street Fighter articulated Ryu figures

Posted by Ryan 'Tryken' Tullis • August 2, 2014 at 8:43 p.m. PDT

Capo Toys has launched a Kickstarter to create an articulated Ryu figure.

This Kickstarter is just the beginning of the Street Fighter line of poseable figures. Future additions will include Ryu, Sagat, Guile, Chun-Li and Blanka. Astonishingly, each one will have more than 19 points of articulation. Here are some pictures to get you started.

Read below for more details of the Kickstarter.

The Kickstarter also states that "select figures [will be] outfitted in micro fiber digs such as Sagat's 'Tiger' kickboxing shorts and Ryu's classic Gi featuring a cloth belt and headband."

How much will Capo Toys need to create such detailed work? Currently, they're asking for $85,000. Pledges beginning at $35 will receive one of the Ryu figures. Check out the Kickstarter for more information or to become a backer.

Meh, not really my favorite characters, but ... cool, I guess.

I like this. I don't know about many kickstarters, but I've seen nothing like this in any of those. All I see is "give us money to make this, and then give us money to get it."

Actually, a lot of the kickstarters I've seen offer the backers the finished product if they donate a certain amount. At least a lot of the indie games and stuff like that I've seen have had that as a backer reward.

It's too bad Capo had a falling out with each other, as they were originally just going to produce the figures. Apparently they spent all of their money on the license and after the lawsuit between each other, there is no money to actually make the figures. Too bad Capcom won't help Rocco.

Heh? These look more like poseable He-Man figures than something worth a kickstarter campaign

I wish SOTA continued their line of street fighter figures.

Rocco says he plans to make all the characters, but he can't do that without getting this first wave funded. They should be able to produce the rest of the waves on their own if it's successful.

If they are really planning on making all the characters they should have thrown in at least one uncommon character in this first series, like Rose or Alex. I am sick of all the Ryu and Chun Li stuff already.

Have you just ignored the majority of the kickstarters? They usually will give you the product you are kickstarting for the 2nd lowest pledge.

I would agree with this if they had money, but they don't. It just isn't the right time, as a Kickstarter for any non-SF2 character would not be a guaranteed success.

The original 12 are universally recognized, hence they can attract more backers. It makes sense. Rocco does have uncommon characters approved for some of the later waves (like Juri). They just need to be carefully placed in the right waves so they don't end up losing money like SOTA did. Remy and Birdie practically killed that line.

Did Capcom ok this or is it at risk of getting a cease and desist?

For real! The SOTA Street Fighter figures are the best.

I'm still very grateful SOMEBODY decided to make a Remy figure. It's standing posed neatly in my room.

Hey, as long as Capo makes a Vega, I'm down.

They need a better sculptor on this. These look almost as bad a the jazzware figs imo.

This kickstarter is a terrible idea, especially to just sell one figure. The figures also dont look nearly as good. I miss the SOTA figures alot.. oh wait they are doing street fighter figures too? Yes, yes they are, but under the brand of pop culture shock and are 12 inch figures(which is the only downfall for me).Im assuming they only got the rights to do the 12 inch since capo has the 6 inch license. You can guarantee figures that havent made it to figure form yet. http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=36... Also they are working on an Oro, but from the already posed zbrush pic theyve teased, Im betting its for their statue line.

Wow thanks for sharing that link. Pcs period! Damn that looks great!

Edit# yeah it's looking that way for oro. Head over to statue forum there's a thread all but confirming oro for the 1/4 scale.
