Seth's long-range jumping HP, "the Yoga Sniper", removed in arcade build of Ultra Street Fighter 4

Early change logs of Ultra Street Fighter 4 reported that Seth's jump back heavy punch, the long-range, Dhalsim-like attack, had returned from previous iterations of SF4. Footage of this attack being back in action can be seen during the USF4 Capcom Cup exhibition match between Infiltration and RG|Filipino Champ.

The most recent Ultra Street Fighter 4 change list did not mention anything about Seth's jumping heavy attack being reverted, but in some recent footage from the Japanese arcade version of the game, it looks as though this move has once again been restored to its SSF4 AE v2012 form.

In the following clip, you can see that the Seth player attempts to zone his opponent out with the long-ranged attack, but after a couple of jump backs, only the short-ranged counterpart comes out. Seth's "Yoga Sniper" was an attack that many Seth players were happy to see return in Ultra Street Fighter 4; whether or not this change is here to stay is still yet to be seen.

well I do believe it was supposed to remain availiable only during neutral jump. But even though it's kinda hard to tell what's going on in the video in this quality, it looks like the Seth player tried that too... :/

I don't play Seth, and he can be an annoying character, but it sucks that they took away one of his few buffs in Ultra. What does he have left? His ultra 2 does more damage (by connecting with more hits) and his ultra 1 recovers slightly faster... and then there's all the nerfs. You could have at least let him have the yoga sniper, Capcom...

Actually it looks like the yoga sniper does come out at about 1:47 during the neutral jump, but Seth was too late in his jump for it to fully extend. As per previous comments, the stage was too bright to be able to fully make it out.

I don't like Seth and think he was OP by design in all low to upper mid level play so I understand the plethora of nerfs but at least yoga sniper was a buff to let him play a more zoning style game. They fvcked Seth pretty bad, he's the only character I feel is over-nerfed - between DWU and the DP-FADC nerf plus everything else, he's pretty much unusable.

Can we just forget about this bland, badly designed, and inherently unbalanceable character now? Like Gill, he should've remained an arcade mode boss only. Let him rot for the remainder of SFVI's run, and then never reappear in the series again.

Top tier in tournaments and tournament viable are not the same thing. Seth still has a lot of tools in Ultra, but will probably end up mid tier (Which is tournament viable in my book). My statement was directed to the people who are saying RIP Seth like he won't be able to win anymore, yet the video itself shows him beating a well known Japanese Viper. It's only 1 match, but it should be enough for people to hold back the RIP comments.

You're not being realistic. You're generalizing that since he has "a lot of tools" that this will make/keep him good. You have to assess these tools. It's like saying Gouken is good because he has angled fireballs, demon flip, counter, and all of that.

Seth's playstyle was momentum-heavy, trying to stun the opponent quickly and hitting the right mix-ups. They took all that away and gave him yoga sniper, and now they even took that.

I want to apologize to sarif2soon. I thought Capcom was merely tweaking Seth's playstyle. I thought Seth's other nerfs were because Capcom saw Seth as OP is they gave him back his sniper-arms. I was wrong... Seth is receiving hateful nerfs. Sorry, sarif2soon was right.

Terrible character design. A boss character meant to cheese you in arcade mode does not translate well to multiplayer, and shouldn't be top tier using that strategy.

I always thought they meant -1 on hit. Since in AE Lp dash is -2 on hit and he can be SPD'd on hit. Mp and Hp dash are -1 on hit in AE.

They did something similar with the hitboxes on some of Honda's moves without telling anyone in AE2012.

Same thing with one of Gen's Ultras and I remember it caught Tokido offguard.

Totally unacceptable.

It's like I keep saying.. What happens in SFxT should have stated in SFxT.

Of course they didn't mention it in the change list, the change list says what different from AE2012, not what's different from some random beta build. If a previously listed change was not on the final change list it was reverted, nothing "shady" or "secret" about that.

Hopefully Capcom will give him something in return, making him more rush-down. People keep complaining on how this game is getting defensive, but they want to break down the most offensive heavy character in the game.

No, it's not! I want him to be good enough to be viable with the HP he already has. Health buffs just homogenizes him with the rest of the cast, making him super-boring. I've hated how capcom has handled this character since Vanilla, in every new version it's just "remove the fun stuff, add boring stuff (If anything)". I don't think he'll even be fun to play anymore in USFIV.

Lol, if this was the case then there would have been no point in doing 'balance changes' since Vanilla and Super SF4 and release FIVE DIFFERENT VERSIONS of the same game.

I heard minimal complaints and concern when Ryu got nerfed into non-viability at the high level in AE 2011 and Daigo had to switch to Yun to continue.

You've made your beds, now you can sleep in them.
Stop whining and adapt like everyone else has had to.

i play many different characters. i play seth, cody, ryu, mbison, vega and im ok with eryu, oni and juri but seth is played because he is fun and not designed with one boring tactic involeved. hell even against gief i play aggressive(and lose alot) just because sitting around zoning isnt fun. ill play seth in ultra but i can guarantee you wont see any stuns and top seth players will switch or go down in rankings for being loyal.
as for you good seth should go and all ***wholes. just cus you suck against him you want him to go. how about stop being selfish and think about people who have invested in the character from the start. sticking with you generic ryus. screw you!

Daigo didn't change from Ryu because Ryu was bad, he changed to Yun because Yun was OP, which in turn made almost every other character non-viable.

This is a good nerf, Seth could zone out most of the cast without much effort. He was basically a better Dhalsim with higher damage, more moves, and tons of fast options in the air.

And newbs will be all we'll be beating with Ultra Seth. Quite honestly im not too worried as EDITION SELECT will be the eventual standard.. making V. Seth and other beasts available. Either way I like Seths style and will countinue to play him.

I remember playing in a lobby where this one particular player used other characters but was on the losing end. He/She then switched to Seth and ruled the room with all the mix ups. It was night and day, so with Seth being "toned down" some, I do not mind. Sucks for the Seth players, but this character is a boss character whom still has a lot of options to win the game. I mean, a fast character like him with a dive kick as well as SPD, what more can you ask for. I don't think it's the end for this character.

Remove Seth from the game. His character design is retarded anyway. Either way Seth still has a srk. Ex srk on of the best in the game. A 3 frame spd. A good focus attack. A good forward and back dash. All his combos are still pretty much still intact. 2 good ultra. Tandem engine needs to be timed better and is still a threat. Stupid move anyway. Dont sit here and act like seth so weak now. He has a lot of good tools to work with all at the cost of low health which is a stupid design anyway. A lazy way to create a character give tjem a bunch of cheap moves and justify it with low health. Just remove jim from the game. Gosh......
