I'm uploading a tutorial video for him right now.

Hey Eventhubs, you guys must have forgot to mention that Fukua will be a free DLC character.

Also, in my link, it would be neat if you guys updated this with the animated bits of Eliza's moveset.
I'm sure people that are looking forward to Eliza would enjoy it :)

Do people actually still play this joke of a game which was made by an even bigger joke of a developer? After over a year of excuses and procrastination in spite of a successful fundraiser, I think people can look forward to Q3 of 2015 for Eliza.

Its called a Donation. You put money forth to support the game overall not the character. It is a voluntary thing and no one pulled your finger..

or did you forget that this is a business and they are trying to make a profit.

Of I forgot. Companies are not allowed to make a profit, its so taboo, yet here you are crying about a free character which by I bet you didn't even put money to support anyways. Don't bring that self entitled bs on here man. Its not going to win you popularity points if that's what you think.

RandomSelectMaster said on April 22, 2014 at 4:51 p.m.

LOL, yeah, they should do a bonus character for Ultra like another doll for free... yes. I think it would stop the Decapre hate if there is still any of that left.

#20
RandomSelectMaster said on April 22, 2014 at 4:52 p.m.

I didn't know that. You have a point there, but for people who never heard or bought the game like me, it is a bonus to us... and the people that payed for it before actually got what they wanted, so win win?

Mike_Z said on April 22, 2014 at 5:29 p.m.

If you didn't donate, it's still free for you. That's "free".
SOMEONE is always paying for things - you think Ultra SF4 just appeared with no money involved beforehand even though it will cost you money to buy it? SG being crowdfunded doesn't change the fact that right now he's available at no cost, for everyone.

Since it's always confusing, free-for-three-months doesn't mean you have to pay 3 months from now. It means he costs $0 for 3 months, so you own him forever if you 'buy' him now.

And to whoever mentioned it, no, waiting and buying him does NOT help us in any useful way. We'd much prefer everyone just go get him during the free period!

#25
HooliganComboFTW said on April 22, 2014 at 5:32 p.m.

Assuming development stops after Robo Fortune, the game will eventually end up having 14 characters which is loads better then just having the initial 8.

Typhoontimmy said on April 22, 2014 at 5:40 p.m.

So, I just noticed, I bought this game early on, and I saw on PSN that Encore edition is different (legal issues I understand) but does that mean I need to pay another $14.99 to buy Encore and to use these characters? Or is there something I am missing?

#28
Jason said on April 22, 2014 at 6 p.m.

If you have a copy of Skullgirls on your account there should be a message in your PSN Inbox with a free code to upgrade to Skullgirls Encore. You may have to dig deep to find it, it has been available for months.

If you didn't get a code (a handfull of people got missed) then shoot an e-mail over to indiegogo@labzerogames.com with your PSN account name and they'll hook you up.

Xykes said on April 22, 2014 at 6 p.m.
(This comment was hidden because it was down voted. You can view it by clicking here.)

It's only "free", though, because a lot of CONSUMERS paid for it through the crowd funding.

My point is that a lot of DLC characters for other games would be "free" if they were crowd funded ahead of time, too.

But, they aren't.

So, it's silly for people to say "SG DLC characters are free! Why don't all those other greedy companies give away DLC for free?"

Those other companies don't crowd fund ahead of time from the pool of people who are also their customers. That's a major difference. The funding methods are completely different.

I'm not saying either way is better or worse...but people should not compare apples and oranges, here.

RunnersKnee said on April 22, 2014 at 6:01 p.m.

Skullgirls definitely need more lovin'. It's a dang good and clever indie-fighting game that caters to all! This should be covered and played more often.
Here's to more DLC characters!

DestinyZX1 said on April 22, 2014 at 6:19 p.m.

That's why I decide to LP the game. I want to raise more awareness about the game and show some major love. :)

#32
RunnersKnee said on April 22, 2014 at 7:04 p.m.

Definitely! I personally feel that this game is sort of a love letter to all the classic fighting game players while bringing in a new and diverse crowd as well! I don't know what's not to love about Skullgirls at all.
It would be hard work and pain-staking, but I really wish all character slots will be filled. Hopefully. I really dig all the character concepts it's so hard to vote for a few !!
But yeah if there are some really catchy matches (1v1; not a fan of tag-types) out there, those should get some limelight for SG to catch on :)

God you must be retarded. People WILLINGLY DONATED FOR THE CHARACTERS, I didn't donate a dime (sorry Mike, I did buy the game twice, on PS3 and PC, plus the color packs on PS3 so plz don't hate me), and I'm getting every dlc character, stage, announcers (whenever they're released), for free. It doesn't matter who, or how many people, payed ahead of time, I didn't, hence I'm getting everything completely free. Just like thousands of others who didn't pay a dime, will get it for free as well. Plus nobody donated jack sh1t for Fukua (which is pretty darn good btw), and everybody got that clone character for free (just like Cashcom.... Oh wait!)

Had you donated instead of bought it we'd have benefited, and you'd have gotten a PC copy too.

I can pick the colors by pressing the respective combo of buttons still but the stages are a no go. Anyone else getting this?

Oroku_Saki said on April 23, 2014 at 7:57 a.m.

EagleBirdMan, delete the previous Title Update, that's what's locking the content.
The TU from lat week or so is what's breaking it, after I removed it, it started working properly. Also do you have the large compatibility patch downloaded¿

#60
djm0001 said on April 23, 2014 at 8 a.m.

Big Band has been released on Beta version for a while now, the only reason it took longer on Retail versions is because MS/Sony need to approve update patches, so there's a longer wait than there should be. It's not like the developers just finished Big Band over the weekend and released him the following Tuesday.

Anyway, this game is dope, anybody who hasn't played it should give it a try, the artwork is dope along with just about everything else in the game.

Also, someone mentioned that "X from Skullgirls reminds me of Y from some other game"...Skullgirls as a game has TONS of video game references in it, makes it really entertaining.

#61
IcyKnee said on April 23, 2014 at 9:36 a.m.

Is there a way I can purchase this game on xbox live? Or we still waiting for it to become available again?

Just refreshed my page. I'm getting it as soon as I get home!

#62
Dimensional said on April 23, 2014 at 9:49 a.m.

I dont get to play Skullgirls or indeed any game much now but I am amazed in a good way at the animation everytime I load it up. Squigly is still my favourite character but Big Band is amazing Eliza is the one I am most looking forward to now though after Squigly she was the one I wanted the most.

One thing though have PSN messed up again? I just looked on the store there and they are charging for Big Band already just like they messed up with Squigly a few weeks ago until it was rapidly fixed. Either that or I have missed something to get him free.

Oh and looking forward to Fukua for some reason, damn I need more time to play this game and Chronophantasma.

#63
RunnersKnee said on April 23, 2014 at 10:02 a.m.

Fukua's default outfit should be the Decapre palette, just throwing it out there x) *still funny Lab Zero actually pulled that one fast*
Does anyone know if the DLC support ends with Beowulf/Robo Fortune?

#64
Jason said on April 23, 2014 at 10:12 a.m.

If you are having problems with the update, please delete the broken ~20mb compatibility update and redownload the correct one.

Microsoft screwed up the update and released a broken "patch" on Monday that didn't properly update the game.

Delete the previous update patch from your HD and redownload the latest one.

There are so many characters and so many ideas, you can't decide.

#69
Xykes said on April 23, 2014 at 1:23 p.m.

How does any of this relate to my point?

My point is that if other companies accepted donations ahead of time, their DLC would be "free", too.

But, other companies DON'T accept donations.

So, since they don't accept donations ahead of time, their DLC CAN'T BE FREE.

Why is this point so difficult to understand?

BTW, when people pay for DLC they also WILLINGLY OFFER THEIR MONEY FOR A PRODUCT THEY WANT...just like the people who donated ARE WILLINGLY DONATING.

Whether you use crowd funding or whether you instead charge for DLC, PEOPLE ARE WILLING PAYING FOR SOMETHING THEY WANT.

The difference is that the people who donate are basically paying for the people who didn't donate, as opposed to with paid DLC where everyone pays for what they want. It's not the generosity of the company that makes the DLC free. It's the generosity of the people who donated extra money (and, in a certain regard the greediness of the freeloaders, lol).

But, whatever, this is a SG article, so the SG gang mentality is in full effect. Objectivity be damned...

#70
Viro_veteruscy said on April 23, 2014 at 2:53 p.m.

Sigh... ok, you do know that even if other companies did do a donation they could still charge for the content right? There's nothing that can keep them from making that statement. MOST people would make items free since donations paid for them, but that's not set in stone.

Lab Zero CHOSE to keep things free for everyone even though the people that wanted the content in the first place helped out. Other companies can do the same and some do it even if no donations were given like Namco-Bandai so "free" is free for the people it intends to be free for. Something can be free and you can still give money just because you want to support the company more which is what fans of SG did. They wanted to support them and help them make more content so they did.

As for everyone else, if they didn't support that's fine because the end result gets them content that supports helped out with. There's no real point in trying to make donations a negative because it is all by choice. We could have not donated anything and left the game as it was, so who cares? If you donated cool if not then why do you care what was donated and what wasn't?

Point is, any company can still charge what they want for content whether fans fund it or other investors do it. Be glad that companies like Lab Zero and Namco-Bandai even give out free stuff, Nintendo still does it more often than not. People will always buy what they want to buy and that's their choice whether it be free and they donate money to support or flat out buy it as a form of supporting.

How the heck do you know that the other companies wouldn't do the same as Lab Zero?
And, why WOULDN'T they do the exact same as Lab Zero? That doesn't make any business sense at all.

ANYWAYS, I think my point is pretty simple, and you guys are just so defensive (even though I never actually criticized SG at all) that you're refusing to acknowledge it.

-Crowdfunding AHEAD OF TIME allows company to give away more free stuff later, because more of your costs are covered AHEAD OF TIME.

-If you don't crowd fund AHEAD OF TIME, then you need to cover you costs later by charging more for content.

I can't say it any more simply that that.

#75
Viro_veteruscy said on April 24, 2014 at 5:38 p.m.

It doesn't matter, at any point they can charge if they simply want to. No amount of time is needed to decide that. If they want something to be free then they can make it free if they want to charge then they will charge.

Whether it's a bad business decision or not, these choices can be made and there are plenty of times when companies make a bad decision such as selling game mechanics (which characters can also be considered as) or giving something for free that hinders profits.

No matter when you get funding for something, if you've already decided to charge or give for free that was a decision already made on a whim or in some way strategized beforehand. Sometimes companies do it for free because profits were high, but that's after already gaining funding and making the original projected goal.
