You might want to remove ChrisG from the headline. He posted this on Twitter on the 16th: "Ok so last minute I won't be attending NCR. Sorry guys. To everyone else going goodluck." And I thought Eventhubs' staff were supposed to be Twitter junkies- for shame.

For those that don't know, Chris G is picking up LoL and is looking to transition out of the FGC due to lack of economic incentive

The NRS community felt NCR has a bias against NRS games (based on previous years) and with injustice being announced as a "side game" people decided just not to sign up and support NCR. So, the game was dropped completely from the lineup.

NCR TO's are super biased against NRS games. We went last year for MK9 and I have literally never been to a worse run tournament, major OR local. I have so many stories about how terribly they treated us... it's ridiculous...

And when you think about it, NCR could have been the FIRST Injustice major ever last year (it was the week after it came out) but they preemptively decided the game would suck so they didn't run it.

Screw the NCR staff, I would never attend that tournament even if Injustice WAS there.

Not sure why Infiltration still waste money on joining western tourney. He should focus more on how to join japanese scene.

#50
nusense said on April 19, 2014 at 7:44 p.m.

Because the north american market is the biggest in the fgc. The Japanese scene might be godlike in sf4, but sponsors could careless if the market has no viewers. Simply put, no money in the Japanese scene.Only a select few marketable players in japan are sponsored.

Plus his also trying to get points for capcom cup....

#51
Darc_Requiem said on April 19, 2014 at 7:50 p.m.

You may not be weak, i don't know i you can call them top tier.
PR balrog and Infiltration were bottom 2 in Topanga World League. Infiltration, and J wong didn't make top 8 in the Korea tournament few weeks ago. it was a Korean tournament, not a Japan tournament. Korean is consider weak in SF that was why it's not a auto qualifier for Capcom Cup.

Who runs the stuff for NCR/SCR? Kind of baffled for 2 big US tourneys so close to each other to have such different feedback. By all accounts SCR ran almost to an EVO level efficiency and popularity. Wouldn't the same people attend NCR? Is the location too small? Not enough volunteer staff? Perhaps someone who attends both events regularly could enlighten on this issue.

Someone ask the T.O why they feel the need to make tournaments last ALL Sunday long as if it's necessary to waste the day. If they ran it efficiently, they could get tournaments done by Sunday late afternoon/early evening and people could get home before Monday morning.

#72
Darc_Requiem said on April 20, 2014 at 9:45 a.m.

I don't think they are run by the same staff. Level Up runs SCR. NorCal and SoCal aren't as close together as you think. NCR and SCR are over 7 hours apart. For reference, I live South Carolina. My family is from Virginia. It takes me 4 and half hours to drive home.

#73
Gotomaster said on April 20, 2014 at 9:53 a.m.

You really didn't rebuttal my point. Yeah, they make top 8 in most AMERICAN only tournies because they are the best American players, plus Mike and Wolfkrone barely make top 8 at all, should replace them with ChrisG.

#74

Because weebos trolling a EH equates to viewers...... Cafe ID Global didn't even break 20k viewers. Only 4 events break over 40k viewers.... SCR FINAL ROUND CEO and EVO. All north american majors.

Also nico nico is ass and barely gets any viewers, because of ppv. What happen to the number one major in japan? SBO DEEEEEEEEEEAD...

Hahaha. I love you, man. I really like your comments, at least they bring more depth and a very interesting spin to the average comment here. I agree, the numbers are there for everyone to see, but we know most people don't really care about facts, do they? ;-)

While we're at it, I'm still waiting for statistical proof than Akuma (and several other chars) is really a "top" tier character. Other than Tokido and Infiltration, no one else do consistently well with that character. At the end of the day, I believe only statistical information are the true backbone of tier lists (for people who care about them), although they only tell half the story.

When you look at the tournament data, and you really start to think about it, anyone should come to the same conclusions as yours, because, as far as I'm concerned, there are not any broken chars, only broken players. How comes that two of the undisputably top tiers in the game finished in the lower bottom of Topanga, in the hands of Fuudo and Infiltration !!? Based only on tournaments results, I may be authorized to claim that Gen is a much stronger char than Rufus, by far. This would raise the questions: is Xian too godlike, or simply Justin Wong and Ricky Ortiz are not good enough? That's a riddle into itself. Everyone will respond that question according to what they want to believe.

I agree mostly with all you say, but we'll have to wait and see how Ultra turns out. You want a broken char? Look no further than Hakan. Now, THAT'S a broken char ;-)
