diddykv said on April 2, 2014 at 9:14 a.m.

I wish Sako would be in this, but I'm not sure if he isn't because of his baby, or because he wasn't invited - which seems unlikely, especially being the reigning Topanga Asia League Champion, where we had basically the same countries, except for the US.

Now, I also think Gamerbee should be there! And I cannot think of a reason why he is not!

Rooting for Infiltrachun.

Dreamking23 said on April 2, 2014 at 9:18 a.m.

The source we have is the Japanese Topanga World League official site. Our translators currently aren't around, and Google Translate isn't the best. Please excuse the lack of information here.

In my defense, though, the article states:
When the event is taking place
Who is competing / what characters their using
What they are competing in
How much money is up for grabs

So...

rog finishing 7-0 or 0-7 would make the most interesting story

I think wao has the best chance to duplicate sako's 7-0

#23
Devrae said on April 2, 2014 at 9:26 a.m.

Gamerbee did pretty bad vs most of these players and in Topanga Asia. I doubt he'll do any better this time around.

I do agree with most people that Sako should be in this. He has a pretty good record vs most of these players, I doubt he didn't want to attend a 4 day event for $15k usd. Hopefully he was invited and he refused for a good reason, but I'd rather see him in this then Fuudo or Xiao Hai.

#24
BuffBison said on April 2, 2014 at 9:27 a.m.

Online pr balrog must be making a trip there 4/10-4/13 and staying with sum1.

#25

This is gonna be HYPE! You know you've got a stacked tournament when PR|Balrog is the underdog! I'm rooting for him and Daigo, but all the matches are gonna be godlike.

#26

But much respect to him for prioritizing his family over the chance to win 15k USD.

True! But Gamerbee had the same game record as Xian, and actually won head to head.

But I see how Xian is the right choice between the two, because he did overall better than Gamerbee in the Asia League, and is also the reigning Evo champ.

As for Sako, Mighty_One58 confirmed what I suspected.

Wow, this a really cool tournament! Every EVO champ is going! A part of me wishes that it was a bit bigger though. In an ideal world, it would be awesome to see 2 players per foreign region, with Japan having the most reps since they host. I would love to see GamerBee, Gackt, Dakou, Poongko, Tokido, Sako, European players like Ryan Hart or Luffy, Brazilian players like Breno Fighters or Keoma, and Dieminion as the other American rep.

Just wait a few more days to figure out how much this event will cost, then load up on the amount of niconico points then. I think the minimum purchase was $50=5000 niconico points, IIRC. The event is probably around $30 worth of points.

I had to use Chrome to translate it, didn't even need the guides. I'm sure you can find a few if you get confused.

Then it would be asia league again not WORLD league.

#80
gaming99 said on April 2, 2014 at 12:59 p.m.

#77 Yeah, but putting one USA (land of free) best player is more interesting to see, so if he got to the last place, no one can make any excuses anymore.

I can't wait to see Daigo vs Xian runback.

I am going to d1ckride Japan all the way. First priority to win is Daigo, if he doesn't, atleast Bonchan would take it because he's really good at long set matches.

Fuudo and Wao also have a good chance to take the first place too if they studied their international opponents.

#81
Kelshou said on April 2, 2014 at 1:05 p.m.

Yeah I know...but I would really prefer another "Asia League" over a "World League".

#82
Burnt said on April 2, 2014 at 1:32 p.m.

Yeah the player list looks pretty short, there shouldve been a few more additions.. at least one to replace Sakonoko. Wheres Dakou and Tokido? I imagine Tokido will probably handle the main YouTube output for these matches as usual, which will end up being my method of watching this -

#83
MegaMayneX said on April 2, 2014 at 1:43 p.m.

Daigo, YES!

#84
TheTHCGamer said on April 2, 2014 at 2:02 p.m.

#85
diddykv said on April 2, 2014 at 2:27 p.m.

If you're talking about Tokidoblog Youtube account, I think we wont be seeing anything about this World League, because that account never posts anything about Topanga official leagues (B league, A league, Asia), though it posts about the Topanga players like Bonchan and Tokido playing online matches on the TopangaTV.

dorayaki said on April 2, 2014 at 2:29 p.m.

The apparent reason they left others off of the list is because they want different character selection as well as expanded viewership, and a chance for international players to compare to Japan hi-level. Alioune, Ryan Hart, Tokido, Mago, all have similar characters as already listed.

It'll be interesting to see how well the ESGN boys do in Topanga. I do have to agree with dude that PRRog will probably be last place. No knock on him but just look at the comp.

Fuudo, Bonchan, Daigo top 3 in no particular order. Or Wao if he plays like he did the last league. He was obviously not comfy playing in the USA tourney.

FINALLY, we'll see a few revenge matches - Wao v Infiltration, Infil v Daigo, Xian v Daigo, XiaoHai v Japanese, PR Rog v Infiltration. Gonna be hype.

#88
Anon said on April 2, 2014 at 2:30 p.m.

I'm looking forward to PR Balrog competing in this, but I have a feeling he will come in last.

He's the best in the US right now which will unfortunately say a lot...

#89
dorayaki said on April 2, 2014 at 2:32 p.m.

dude, common sense says PR Rog is the underdog. In a first to 7, I don't think he'll win more than 1 or 2 sets. But that's not a knock on him at all versus this competition.

Save your money bro.

#90
Gotomaster said on April 2, 2014 at 2:44 p.m.

Rog is US' best player but he's the only player that doesn't have experience playing long sets against elite players in a real competition.

I think he can avoid finishing last but it's going to be tough.
