Lets see if Daigo can win this mismatch against Infiltration. Matchup is in Akumas favor.

I voted tokido, fuudo, kazunoko (xian seems to have been downloaded by daigo who will no doubt share the tech with kazunoko) Ryan hart, and daigo. I'll never vote against the beast again :'(

Infiltration is taking it. Prepare yourselves for Daigo fanboys crying about how broken Akuma is. That is, unless Daigo studies infiltration like he did with Xian and totally surprises us all. I firmly believe that Kayane will win her set though.

Why no poll for SC V?

I don't know Daigo seems to be in his best shape in quite awhile so he might take this despite the character matchup disadvantage.

I'm fairly confident that Daigo is going to take it. Unsure how it'll happen, whether it'll be one-sided or a nail-biter, but I'm pretty sure he'd gonna be able to pull it off.

The one thing that Daigo has more than probably any other player is consistency, especially in extended sets. That isn't saying he hasn't had his bad days or anything or that I'm trying to be a fanboy, it's just a fact that's backed up with evidence that Daigo is not only an incredibly strong player, but he's proven it time and time again with how well he's performed at tournaments over the years. Top 8 at Evo ever since SF4's release is just a small indicator.

Another thing about him is that when he wants to win, he's shown to put in the work to make sure he comes out on top. The amount of dedication he put in to ensure his victory over Xian in their recent ft10 was awesome and I have no doubt he's going to do the same if not more to make sure he defeats Infiltration. Infiltration is a better player than Xian and he knows this, he's going to make sure he's got him downloaded by studying every match video and sparring with every high level Akuma he can.

There's also one more thing he has over Infiltration and that's heart. I know I'll probably be criticized for saying this, but it's something Infiltration doesn't play with and it makes a difference. Infiltration has a set gameplan and aims to play that way with 100% perfect execution. You see it in his match videos. He'll have zero vitality, score a knockdown and go straight into vortex tactics. That's just how he plays and it's rarely seen that he deviates from that style aside from his downright brutal keepaway game, which was demonstrated when he eliminated Laugh at Evo this year.

I'm sure Infiltration will be studying Daigo as well, because both are extreme players in terms of how they handle a matchup AND the player they're against. Needless to say, I. CAN'T. FREAKIN'. WAIT.

HOLD UP!! HOLD UP!! Someone contact Markman and tell him to make some adjustments NOW!
1) If you're gonna have something of this caliber, make it first to seven or win by 2 at least!
2) Get PRROG and SAKO in the mix! And let us vote for matchups man! Like, wouldn't mind seeing INfiltration in more than one exhibition.

Hate to say it, but don't see how Daigo will beat Infil Akuma.

Good luck Daigo. Should be a FT 50.

Capcom should be shot for AE 2012 'balance'.
How in the hell Akuma ended up with a better crouching forward than Ryu is beyond me.

#22
crispylinks77 said on September 3, 2013 at 1:02 a.m.

@ 16

You make some valid arguments. The only thing I disagree with is the part where Infiltration does not play with heart.

You have a player who, in 2009-2011, always made top 8 and got destroyed by players like Daigo, Poongko, Justin Wong, Tokido, etc. Fast forward to 2012-present, and he's dominated almost every tournament he's ever been in.

This is the guy who reverse OCV'd the entire USA team in their Team USA vs Team Korea match.

I will say this though. I'm sure Daigo wants to win this exhibition more than Infiltration. If Infiltration plays with everything, it'll be very close. But if Infiltration doesn't care, then Daigo may win via landslide.

#23
DarkFlare07 said on September 3, 2013 at 1:29 a.m.

I think daigo is a better player but akuma has too many advantages and infiltration has the best akuma around. I really want daigo to win but he wont do it with ryu so im playing it safe and voted for infiltration.

#24

What did Daigo take away from his last match against Infiltration?

#25
sarif2soon said on September 3, 2013 at 1:46 a.m.

@16
i do hope it's either one-sided, or a nail-biter and nothing in between.
i don't think infiltration plays like. what you said feels more like a description of tokido's style (keep away + vortex). infiltration relies more on footsies, from what i see.
and what do you mean by "playing with heart"?

#26
Smorgasboard said on September 3, 2013 at 2:19 a.m.

This is real life, not a fairy tale manga. You don't win just because you have stronger feelings. Infiltration to win.

Also why do people vote for Fuudo over Mago. I don't think Mago has ever lost to Fuudo in all their encounters.

#27

#28
Hackstermatrix said on September 3, 2013 at 2:58 a.m.

Dafuq is Kamizono? Anyways, Daigo CANNOT beat Infiltration. Infiltration plays too solid in an uneven matchup and has unblockables meaning Daigo can't rely on wakeup prep the way he did vs Xian.

The pro-Daigo / "Akuma wins the matchup" rationalizations have already started. Hilarious stuff.

Btw, isn't Ryu-Gen 8-2 for Ryu now?

In a way, I'd hope Infiltration won 10-0, just to see the fanboys' dreams crushed. But that'd mean the cries of "Akuma OP" would never stop because "Daigo got outplayed" is too hard a thing for some people to accept.

The amount of mirror matches is strange, to say the least. Would've wanted different characters.

#31
KeNnii said on September 3, 2013 at 3:40 a.m.

How is Ryu-Gen 8-2 in Ryu's favour?! Its either 5-5 or in Gens favour more or less... In topanga daigo had to play really lame to win but now hes downloaded and bettered Xian. Gen however has more tricks and better damage output with the super, its just Daigo fooled him

Joking. People just seem to always say Akuma favour Akuma favour as if the matchup was lopsided enough for it to matter in the blowout records Daigo and Infiltration have. Just trying to make fun of the fanboys' hypocrisy.

#34
gtfopanda said on September 3, 2013 at 3:52 a.m.

Lmfao @ Akuma owns this matchup.

Bunch of people don't even play both chracters to understand Infiltration just shut down Daigo's bread and butter at both Evos, and The Beast failed to adapt.

How many of his crouching forward into fireball got punished? How many times did he fail to tech early palm landings into throw? Forgot about him going uppercut crazy in 2011? The list goes on, stop the fanboyism and learn the actual matchup.

@ #22

You have no clue if you think Akuma has the superior crouching forward, his active frames are much lower (3 vs 5) and canceled into both of his fireballs it is never a true blockstring, not even point blank. Gouki would gladly trade for that.

Active frames is what makes or breaks it, the nerf to the hitbox is small stuff, it's still gonna stuff anything. AE (non-2012) is proof of this, Ryu got wrecked there.

#35
Coffeeling said on September 3, 2013 at 4:09 a.m.

#27
Yup, not a shonen manga. People seem to think it is though.

#35
Worth noting that the no true blockstring thing is more about his fireball's slower startup than his cr.mk being worse for that, per se. But it does impact cr.mk usability.

And yeah, I'm curious how many people even play both characters. When you play both back to back it's hard to not feel the difference in comfort doing cr.mk xx fireball and such. Ryu's control of that range is just better than Akuma's. Who in turn has a better 3/4ths to full screen game control-wise. Then you try to play a pure zoning game with Akuma and notice his zoning and AA damage is pitiful. He has excellent control, but no damage to go with it while Ryu can actually deal damage just by zoning someone because random fireball hits hurt and his AAs deal damage much more easily than Akuma's.

But crying is easier, I guess.

Strider_Hien said on September 3, 2013 at 4:21 a.m.

I want Daigo to win so bad,but I'm not blind to Infiltration's skill and play ethics. He will do what needs to be done to show the pupil the power of the dark hadou. The way I see it:Daigo is Goku(Pre Super Saiyan.Just learned Kaio Ken),Xian was Nappa(Powerful indeed, but got beaten by Goku's new founded abilities) and Infiltration is Vegeta(Rabid, extremely powerful and willing to do what needs to be done to destroy the competition) Match of Giants right here......

#37
ZentraediAce92 said on September 3, 2013 at 4:50 a.m.

I guess when I say heart, I really mean his desire to win this. I know everyone wants to win, but with Daigo it just seems different in that it's so much more about him proving himself. He fights with a level of intensity that indicates intense pride and conviction. He's also been itching to get at Infiltration, hell that's putting it lightly. It's almost like a vendetta. He just takes his losses so seriously and won't be satisfied till he's settled the score. That's why I think he's going to win. Both are incredible players, but it's going to come down to who wants it bad enough and no one wants to settle a score more than Daigo.

@27, 36 Meanwhile, we've had Justin beating ChrisG after a crippling deficit, the famous Daigo parry, the last round turnaround of Reynald in Kof, and many more. Sure this is real life, but we've had quite of few "anime" moments through the history of the Fgc.

I'm actually really hype to see Bonchan vs Ryan Hart, though. Mirror matches are just as fun to watch for me, and I think these are probably the two best Sagat players right now.

Did u just say akuma cant deal damage? He has decent damage in his combos and has the ability to shut down almost any character. So what if ryu can hurt someone with fireballs? Wont matter if u can barely use it since akuma outplays ryus fireball game.

#44
Orichalkos said on September 3, 2013 at 5:54 a.m.

Seems everyone forgot the beat down Infiltration gave Latif during one of the Cali exibitions 7-0.. not to say hes gonna make Daigo look free its just going to be a real close one. really wish it was a first to 30 or 50 :(. and why no Sako in the mix would love to see a set between him and PR Rog =/

Not sure about daigo vs infiltration, but it is a long set and daigo is playing. As for the matchup itself, air, tokido and others said it is an even matchup; out-footsie akuma and don't get knocked down, the rest is mind games.

Kazunoko would question gen's defensive options. I voted kazunoko.

Tokido takes it free.

Bonchan is a better player, and a better sagat player.

Mago already beat fuudo.

#47
Kinimaster said on September 3, 2013 at 6:16 a.m.

Really, Daigo? Lol Infiltration is gonna body him and all Daigo fanboys are going to look silly.

#48
Remondo02 said on September 3, 2013 at 6:21 a.m.

Lol
I have an another view point for the first three vote poll :

- Infiltration will win pretty easily ;
- Ryan will win pretty hardly.
- Kazunoko will win pretty easily ;

I'm not so sur for the Ryan tai Bonchan...pretty tough to say.

#49
akaisora said on September 3, 2013 at 6:22 a.m.

@44 ryu has a better natural fireball game and he can sweep/dash under/DP air fireballs. A badly spaced jump-in by akuma leads to a 150 DP from ryu; the equivalent of a BnB.

Akuma can get high damage from STANDING hit confirms. His Divekick is ambiguous only at certain distances.

It is not that easy for akuma. Infiltration has great footsies and reads, which basically means making use of akuma's best tools and setups. Tokido's style is more vortex/reads. Daigo pretty much shuts tokido down with focus attack/st.lk footsies. That made tokido lose rounds without landing a single knockdown or BnB.

#50
llSilkCutll said on September 3, 2013 at 6:40 a.m.

Believe me this is much more than an exhibition, both Daigo and Infiltration want to win this more than anything, make sure of that (this is no exhibition is their eyes or anyone's eyes). This is the biggest single match of the year.

Odds in Infiltration's Akuma favour cause he is more powerfull charathcer, but Daigo is the better player so that should even it out. If Daigo wins the first few games and gets on a run he will be unstoppable!

GeneralSpecific said on September 3, 2013 at 8:40 a.m.

gtfopanda / #35,

I don't agree.
The hitbox is massive stuff becaue if you look at it, Akuma has no hittable region, making trades impossible.
Akuma's just wins outright.
So does Sakura's. All the active frames are is the timing.

Ryu's should not have been changed in the first place, it was the same.

It was hard enough to keep up with Akuma in Vanilla and Super with his option selects, escape options and vortexes without worrying about Capcom doing dumb stuff with hitboxes to keep scrubs happy to begin with.

You are correct about me having no clue about AE 2012, this version honestly makes me sick. =]

#61
doublef said on September 3, 2013 at 8:43 a.m.

Daigo is well aware that if he beats Infiltration (especially right after 10-0'ing Xian) he'll be labeled best in the world again.

I think this match is gonna be nuts. Xian was clearly unprepared for his ft10 set with Daigo. But Infiltration is gonna study the matchup like crazy going into this set (and I'm sure Daigo is doing the same). So i really can't call it, but I'm leaning towards Daigo just because of his raw talent.

Plus, Daigo has a "beast mode" that can be activated when he gets angry. Infiltration doesn't have anything like this, he only has "robot mode" or "troll mode".

And for those saying Akuma is too hard of a matchup for Ryu, I disagree. I don't think it's any worse than Gen vs. Ryu. Also, if you factor in Daigo's high percentage of landing EX Hadoken FADC Ultra (along with DP FADC Ultra) combined with Akuma's low life, we could be seeing a ton of clutch wins from Daigo.

#62
Hayabusa_San said on September 3, 2013 at 8:46 a.m.

Personally i think Daigo has a chance of winning in a FT10 against Infiltration. But this match is harder for him for two reasons: Even if he study Infiltration, this player has the ability to change strategy so easily that it is hard to counter him. Second, Akuma vs Ryu match isn't like Ryu vs Gen.

And before anyone comes to me and say "You freaking Daigo fanboy", i also admire Infiltration's agressive play style and i like this pro attitude and effort to be the best. I'm a fan of both players, but i simply have been following Daigo longer and i want him to show the best of his fighting skills.

In the end, this will be a difficult match for both of them, and i'm expecting a close 10-8 in favor of either of them.

#63
Mike said on September 3, 2013 at 8:48 a.m.

They already have a long set online and it was boring. Infiltration got bopped. No one wants to relive that.

#64
GoldenTrophy said on September 3, 2013 at 8:49 a.m.

and lol at the Akuma vs Ryu matchup being unfair for Ryu. Do people know that Evo 2013 was the first time in almost a decade that Tokido beat Daigo at a tournament? all those other occasions of when Daigo's Ryu defeated Tokido in every iteration of SF4 I never once heard of the cries of the Ryu vs Akuma matchup or even the tourny before Evo 2012 when Daigo beat Infiltration. It was only when Infiltration upped his game with true dedication is when the cries came about.

#65
GeneralSpecific said on September 3, 2013 at 8:51 a.m.

gtfopanda / #35,

Oh and just to clarify, I just believe that capcoms 'rebalancing' over the years has been a contributing factor to Infiltration getting stronger and Daigo losing.. also to Poongko's Seth.

I think they should have left things alone from Day #1, and if ANY adjustments were to take place, they should have been minor ones.. and just let players learn the damn matchups.

Let's see Akuma get nerfed to position #19 like Ryu has on the tier list and see what happens. =]

MCHAWKING said on September 3, 2013 at 8:54 a.m.

Don't understand the fuudo vs. mago match. Fuudo is clearly the better player, who cares who wins the mirror. Would rather see Fuudo vs. Justin. After all Justin knocked him out at evo after saying Fuudo was the only top player he had never beat in tourney, so doesn't Fuudo want that runback? Also where's that first to 50 between Daigo and Infil? First to 10 is nice but I think it should be at least 20.

#67

- Infiltration against Kazunoko ;
- Xian against Fuudo ;
- Mago against Ryan ;
- Daigo against Bonchan.

I think it would be interesting to see that.

My votes:
Infiltration
Ryan Hart
Xian
Fuudo
Justin Wong

How are people seriously asking for FT30 or FT50. Those matches would have the potential to go on for HOURS! Not feasible for multiple exhibitions. Just because Daigo 10-0'd Xian doesn't mean all matches are going to be that quick. A FT10 should give the players plenty of time to settle in and the viewers plenty of time to see who the better player is.

I'm hyped about this, even though it'll probably be on at 3:00am EST.

TWOB1GUNZ said on September 3, 2013 at 9:09 a.m.

akuma is the usain bolt of street fighter right now, if he's on his game simply just sit back relax and watch him showboat to a victory, nothing you can do about it. BUT lightning could strike and some how daigo could get lucky if infiltration is still salty over breaking up with laugh at evo.

Infiltration should use Gouken for the first few matches just to troll all of the haters. Funny thing is he'd probably win a few.

I like how no one acknowledges that Daigo only lost to Tokido for the first time since SF4's incarnation, but they're quick to make excuses for him losing to Infiltration consistently.

@75

Haha you got knowledge!
Tokido, Fuudo and maybe Kazunoko win this for free.
Daigo is a beast, but I can't see him win against Infiltration.
Ryan Hart vs Bonchan is the match i wanted to see. Winner is the best Sagat on the planet. Go Europe!!

On the one hand, I am rooting for Daigo to win since he has yet to win against Infiltration since 2012 and I really want to believe that player skill can overcome a character disadvantage. On the other hand, if he does win then Akuma might not get the nerfs he deserves in USF4.

So I don't know who to root for!

Why do people still act like Akuma isn't one of the best in the game and then get SO defensive about it? Then the logic is you have to play every character basically or you can't have an opinion on them? Ridiculous. YOU guys are the criers, like Akuma players have it so rough. He's far from broken or even OP but damn, the mentality of Akuma defenders seems to be just plain fear that your precious character might get nerfed. Then you hate on Daigo like him losing to Infiltration is the sole reason Akuma deserves to be nerfed. Get real!

People are called Daigo fanboys but then act like Infiltration is God and that his main character isn't the best in the game? Lol

I don't even think Akuma has that much of an advantage over Ryu, but deep down that's not what this argument is really for, is it?

a slight observation / comment on Akuma; only in the SF4 series did he gain a boost in walk speed, which has never been the case in previous incarnations of his tourny allowed playable self. I would be content if they just slowed down his walking speed

You guys fail to realize that they are playing in Tokyo. Daigo's turf.

...No way is Daigo going to lose on his home turf

In the Fairy Tail manga/animal, most of the fights will have the bad guys beat the good guy up to an inch of their life with their superior power and tactics but the good guy would yell something about their feelings and win with just one attack. It's like getting a random ultra that did 100 percent damage all the time. Those example you gave are skill based comebacks that are not as rare as you think.

@76
I remember that Daigo was Tokido's demon but beating him for the first time? Wow.

@77
Why would Fuudo win easily against someone he has never beaten before? The guy that played Fei way before he did and taught him everything he knows.

Am sad to see that people are still attributing Infiltration 's wins to Akuma while ignoring his hard work and his other characters. I guess it's easier than admitting that character loyalty is not that great and that you need hard work to be good at fighting games. Two things a lot of people are in denial about.

akaisora said on September 3, 2013 at 10:49 a.m.

Daigo pretty much said it, he lost to infiltration because inf downloaded him and had a plan to counter everything he does. Daigo went 3-0 in sf anniversary when he changed his playstyle, then lost 6-0 when infiltration downloaded his "new style".

Daigo can easily adapt mid-match and infiltration is not a third rate player. I say it will be a close match, since their evo2013 match didn't look as bad as 2012 but I don't know who's going to win.

No_Surrender said on September 3, 2013 at 11:06 a.m.

No way I'm missing this. Still bummed I missed Daigo vs Xian. My heart wants Daigo to win... but if I were a betting man, my wallet would say Infiltration. Hope I'm wrong though.

#91
GodPride said on September 3, 2013 at 11:15 a.m.

I think Infiltration's Akuma will take this. He's going to give Ryu the footjob. And if Ryu tries any funny business like throwing out the fake blockstring into fireball, you can bet Akuma will FADC through it and Ryu will have to take a big meaty damage to his @ss which often times leads to the vortex rape. Hopefully, Daigo will have learned the art of cock blocking by then.

wont happen. infiltration doesnt use gouken against top pros. he uses akuma, and if the matchup isnt in akuma's favor he counterpicks.

• MCZ|Daigo vs. Infiltration <- Daigo in a longer set imo, more time to adapt against Infiltration. I'm sure he'll study how Tokido approached fighting him.

• WW|Ryan Hart vs. Bonchan <- I got Ryan Hart, this may be the best match on the card though.

• DM|Xian vs. Kazunoko <- Xian, I'm sure he'll be hungry after getting rocked by Daigo.

• MCZ|Mago vs. RZR|Fuudo <- Fuudo, he's the best Fei Long...Period lol.

• MCZ|Tokido vs. EG|Justin Wong <- Tokido, his playstyle is too far from cookie cutter for Wong to adapt in 5 games lol.

Soul Calibur 5
• Kayane vs. Kamizono <- Kayane because she's beautiful and idk the other person lol.

They need to prolong the Daigo vs Infiltration set.

First to 10 still can't show who's the better player because of the character match up, and plus I just want to see this for as much as possible. Do at least first to 20, but I want to see a first to 30.
Better yet cancel everything else and let them do a first to 50 =)

Don't really care about any other matches to be honest.

Not to mention he's used him against plenty of other top players. Tokido, Ryan Hart, Bonchan to name a few.

I don't know why people complain about Akuma being an uphill battle for Ryu. It's like people want Ryu to be the #1 top tier guy or something.

Akuma vs Ryu is a 5-5. At the very worst, in the case of Ryu, it's a 5.5-4.5 in Akuma's favor. People really need to stop crying about other characters having bad matchups and just learn from them.

I am a Dan main. Yes, there are a ALOT of characters that give Dan uphill and even no-chance battles, but in the end, I have to learn my opponent's tactics and learn not to fall into them.

Funny thing is I beat Akuma players alot more than Ryu players, but I'm not gonna cry nerfs to Ryu, I just learn to adapt.

Ryu is 100% fine the way he is. He has ALL the tools to beat every single one of the cast.

Akuma has 850 HP, 150 less than Ryu, and people complain because he has an air fireball and a slightly better crouching MK that they need to nerf him?

Gotomaster said on September 3, 2013 at 1:13 p.m.

@87 Anime comebacks are quite common themselves friend. Plus people who make comebacks tend to get a heighten sense of things, to make amazing reads and play at such a tense moment is a power up in itself. And no, it isn't as common as you think, I am talking about real comebacks, not lvl3 Vergil, or Phoenix, or most other 1 character comebacks in marvel that have the use of X-factor.

abirzenith said on September 3, 2013 at 2:12 p.m.

because he has an air fireball and a slightly better crouching MK ? dude thats not all, you forget the better damage output, the vortex and of course the escape options
