Final forum guide contest is for Mad Catz TE stick, other winners announced - EventHubs forum overhaul in the works We've had a really good run since we launched our monthly forum guide contest here on EventHubs. We awarded many $50 prizes each month to the people who wrote the best guides, but we're going to be moving in a different direction here soon, and the contest will be closed down.

Still, we're going out with a bang and the final forum guide contest will be decided on September 24, 2013 and the winner will receive a Mad Catz Tournament Edition FightStick for the system of their choice.

We need our reader's help though to find the best guides on the forums, as such, we're asking them to leave a comment here below with link(s) to their favorite guides that have been posted. This can be submitted by the author who wrote the guide, or someone who feels a guide was particularly helpful.

If it's the latter case, please feel free to explain how the guide helped you and what you learned from it, as your words could help the author win the grand prize.

We're also announcing the past few month's winners, and what users can expect from the forum overhaul. Hit the jump to see those details.

$50 forum contest winners for June, July and August

• June winner: Lobo Injustice: Gods Among Us guide by InstaFrag
• July winner: Cerebella Skullgirls guide by Zeddy
• August winner: Ken Street Fighter X Tekken guide by Whitty

Forum overhaul

Our forums will be receiving a complete overhaul in the future. We'll be moving to new forum software and updating the look of our discussion groups at that time as well.

We'll have many more things to announce when the time comes, but regardless, you're going to see numerous improvements to our existing forum architecture in the future.

Again, don't forget to leave a comment below with your favorite forum guides, or the ones you've personally written that you feel are the cream of the crop.

i could make a Law tutorial... going over some good pokes, example of some pandora combos, and matchup knowledge based on my experience against certain characters.

Well done to the winners the amount of money cat has shelled out for guides is amazing. When i came up with the idea over a year ago i didnt think cat would run with it for so long. We've had so many good guides written and im glad that happened.

@Zombiebrian

Many props to you for coming up with some terrific ideas behind the scenes, like this, the community tiers and so much more.

@TheLaw

You'll need to sign up for an account there, it's a separate login system, but that's something that will be fixed with the new forum software. It's high, high, high up there on our priority list.

One thing you can do is sign up with the exact same username/pass/email and from that point it'll be like you have a single login.

Are we allowed to write a new guide for a character that has already had a guide written for them? Or no?

zombiebrian said on September 1, 2013 at 7:35 p.m.

@9 yes you are allowed the guides are survival of the fittest back when the guides were new to the forum it was the rule that one person per guide that has since been changed. This was down to the amount of people who would start a guide then change mains/wouldn't put in the time or just left the fgc/eh.

Glad something is finally moving on the forum front. The forum quickly felt outdated in comparison to the steady growth of the main site, with design updates and new features.

What happens to the guides that never won, but where the author would pass on any "payment"? Would be a shame if so much work was just in vain. Also, does that mean no more guides on EH? When will the new forum roughly launch?

ive decided to just keep it simple and provide a link to Law's Frame data courtesy of ZUkUu along with how to read frame data. Now im just going over his best normals from my standpoint. Im trying not to make this harder on myself considering im not used to making guides, especially on forums.

@zUkUu

All of the forum guides and past posts will be moved over to the new forum area, so the work won't be in vain.

I can't give any details yet, but we have something very special planned for the future of guides on the main EHubs website.

No time table yet for the forum launch. We're working on several projects now, including the forums, and we'll have to see how quickly we can accomplish these core things.

I remember getting my 50 bucks for that old Thor guide a while back. I've been wanting to do a Hsien Ko guide but haven't had the time. Hope more contest come in the future.

@Sarif2soon

Sorry, old logo has to go to fit the new design.

I think the contest should be to new guides with a due date. That way we see new content that probably won't be outdated by now. You should announce a competition with the TE stick as a prize.

Therefore you'll get so much more new content for the forums and everyone wins with people looking for new tutorials/guides/tech.

The 24th still seems like a good date for the guide but since September just started, ending on the last day of September seems right. Just my 2 cents, I rather make a new guide and look at newer ones than look up old and possibly outdated ones.
