Its kind of a tradition for WCG to have casters from other games cover events they know nothing about. See for example:

http://playstuff.net/showthread.php/5...

I think that one of the same casters is involved in this.

It's NOT a bad matchup for Fei. Both characters have the tools to deal with each other, which is something you can't say for Guy in the Zangief matchup, which is an actual bad matchup. Besides, players play the game, not matchups.

#40

i stopped at double triple kick. ridiculous. We get esports exposure, and people were exposed to the wrong shiiit.

#41

Dreamhack will have f-word and DJ logan on commentary ! <3

#42
Rijot said on November 28, 2013 at 8:24 a.m.

Not suprised. WCG has been a fail tournament for years now. No one from esports cares about it anymore.

#43
Devrae said on November 28, 2013 at 8:27 a.m.

They should of gotten Seth and someone else to commentate. Seth knows the audience well. He can probably explain the match to non FGC viewers and hype up the matches.

The FGC needs exposure, but watching those two commentate kinda kills all hype. We are not going to reach Esport level at this rate :(

#44
nusense said on November 28, 2013 at 11:51 a.m.

Holy crap a Guile beat Infil??

#56
Grimoires said on November 28, 2013 at 8:50 p.m.

And Humanbomb upsets Infiltration. Top 2 from each group qualifies? If so, I think Infiltration is out short of FV Chuan losing all his remaining matches.

#57
Grimoires said on November 28, 2013 at 8:54 p.m.

Actually Infiltration doesn't like the Guile vs Akuma match-up. He uses Gouken all the time when playing Dieminion. Not sure why he stuck with Akuma here.

#58
EnsignHiro said on November 28, 2013 at 10:56 p.m.

Not surprising. A c while ago dieminion lost to infiltration by one round in a tournament.

"Guile's very high on hit points here..." Are they just making stuff up as they go along or is that a term from some other game genre?

#74
HeatEXTEND said on November 29, 2013 at 7:40 a.m.

At least those "noises" pinpoint important moments in a match.

These jokers seem to think combos are the be-all-end-all of FGs, get confused by trades, piss their pants every time someone does an ultra....and that's literally everything to it.

I'd rather have the noises...

#75
EMP_TriForce_GM said on November 29, 2013 at 10:14 a.m.

Heh, people are making fun of the people commentating, when clearly they are doing the best to commentate a game they obviously are not 100% versed in. Skipping over the fact that 2nd place will make more money that 1st Evo and how it is much more professional than the entire FGC combine for the last 10 years combine. Laugh while you can... its your scenes last laugh.

#76
Zenman said on November 29, 2013 at 10:28 a.m.

I'm sorry for sounding ignorant, but could someone please explain this tournament's format?? It's a bit confusing.

I get that it's round robin format, but how come only the two best players in Group B are competing for 3rd place while the players in Group A get to compete in the Grand Finals??

#82
r0my5 said on November 29, 2013 at 3:19 p.m.

Two players advanced from both groups

• RZR|Fuudo (Fei Long) beat Human Bomb (Sakura) 3 - 2

• EMP|Dieminion (Guile) beat FV|Chuan (Fei Long, Guile) 3 - 0

Those were the semifinals

The commentators are doing a decent job considering they're not familiar with the specifics of the game they're commentating. Getting some basic concepts of fighting games across whilst being enthusiastic and professional.

Some classic moments of unintentional comedy coming out of these games, too. EMP best Guile.

Oh, and 'dat crowd.

#97

#98
Stickyresin said on November 29, 2013 at 10:22 p.m.

Commentating isn't just narrating. You are supposed to actually explain stuff so that beginners aren't completely lost and intermediate players gain some insight on what pro players are doing. You need to know something about the game to commentate.

Clearly, these guys don't know ANYTHING about SF4, much less fighting games in general. I highly doubt they have ever even watched an SF4 stream before. Literally 90% of the things they say are completely wrong.

#99
MCHAWKING said on November 29, 2013 at 10:22 p.m.
