And now, the moment you've all been waiting for... EventHubs lists the top 10 current Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 players #UMvC3Rank

Posted by DreamKing23
November 8, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. PST

The tournament circuit is currently littered with amazing players from all walks of life, spanning from one fighting game to another. We decided to take a closer look at the incredible talent that is the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 scene.

The EventHubs team came together and voted on each player based on tournament results, and player skill across the globe. The players listed here have performed at big events consistently, and players who haven't traveled much outside of their region were not included because it's a bit too difficult to judge them based on their performances only in the local area.

We gave each player a score between 1 - 10, then averaged all of the numbers together. Today we have player #20 - player #11 listed. Be sure to check out which players ranked #50 - 41, #40 - #31, #30 - #21, and #20 - #11.

If you'd like to join the discussion, or want to tear our heads off for our choices, you can voice your opinions about our list on Twitter using the hashtag "#UMvC3rank." You can also share your thoughts in our comments section, as usual.

The moment you've all been waiting for is finally here. Today we here at EventHubs list our top 10 current Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 players.

I agree with this 100%. Chris G may not have won Evo but hes won the lions share of EVERYTHING ELSE lol. Also the rest are all great players as well top ten IMO. Great job EH.

#10
chickenlegs90 said on November 8, 2013 at 9:22 a.m.

Top 5 was fairly predictable. I think Nemo/Yipes are overrated though. Nemo wins 2 money matches and is suddenly the 6th best Marvel player? I know it's hard to play in US tournies from Japan, but he really needs a proven tournament record.

Also, as much as I love watching Yipes, he doesn't seem to travel much anymore and hasn't placed consistently most of 2013.

#11
EnsignHiro said on November 8, 2013 at 9:24 a.m.

Let the chris g hate and " said guy is too high " hate begin!

This list is pretty decent. Only thing I agree with that people say is how is said player higher then other when he didnt win anything?

BaroqueObama said on November 8, 2013 at 9:27 a.m.

Would it have killed you guys to list more than one team for each player? Like, it really shortchanges Champ to only list his Dorm team and same for Yipes to not mention Spencer/Vergil/Hawkeye.

#15
Daedae22 said on November 8, 2013 at 9:28 a.m.

So you must not have read or heard when people including FChamp said after EVO he beat EVERYONE of worthy note. Also must've missed Fchamp and Chris G saying he was easily a top ten player in the world.

#16
Clamper said on November 8, 2013 at 9:29 a.m.

I dont agree completely (Yipes COULD be nº7 if he took the game more seriously and PR Rog doesnt practice that much too) but this is a good top 10. No doubt Chris G is the best.

#17
MajinTenshinhan said on November 8, 2013 at 9:29 a.m.

I definitely see your point, and I agree to an extent. Unfortunately, we felt that it would likely have gotten too cluttered ... And where do you draw the line? So we decided to only list their current teams. Sorry!

#18
Chrisuchiwa said on November 8, 2013 at 9:30 a.m.

OMG, F Champ is better than someone he never beat (Flocker), This is just an illusion, right? I am done and out! This is just a serious joke, lol.

That Chris g resume tho O_O

#20
Cammystrike said on November 8, 2013 at 9:34 a.m.

Pretty much what I expected, although I would never put someone as overrated as Nemo in the top 10. This dude wins some money matches and beats up weak Japanese competition and somehow deserves 6th in the world because of that?

#21
lovelessLP said on November 8, 2013 at 9:37 a.m.

people are gonna complain about nemo being in the top list, when he has easily done more than neo. all neo has done is be f.champ's butt buddy and make some awful t-shirts.

#22
mfarooqi said on November 8, 2013 at 9:38 a.m.

Um Chris g won 1st in ufgt 9 not fchamp

#23

really glad i make more money a year than all these players lmao

#24
chickenlegs90 said on November 8, 2013 at 9:41 a.m.

Yea, I guess I did. Because players opinions totally stand up against tournament performances, right?

I realize this list is of the opinions of the authors (eventhubs), but tournament results are the best way to judge players, and Yipes doesn't get them anymore.

Edit: If this list was of best UMVC3 players EVER, Yipes gets a top spot, but IMO not on a CURRENT list of top players.

Feel so proud right now.Awesome list,EH.....

EDIT:AND FLOCKER!!!!!!! How could I forget him??!?!?!?! X_X

#31
xvespax said on November 8, 2013 at 9:56 a.m.

Angelic should not be in top 10, neither should NEO or Nemo.
Nemo hasn't won any tournaments here although he did well in money matches, same with Neo and angelic.

Sadly my boy yipes is just a fan favorite he hasn't been doing good in tournaments he just lost to JDM for gods sake. Flocker should be higher than Fchamp

#32
chickenlegs90 said on November 8, 2013 at 9:57 a.m.

Errr, now that you mention it, I just assumed Yipes even though you didn't specify which one from my original comment.

And yes, I'm looking forward to more Nemo, hopefully he can prove me wrong and beat everyone at Capcom Cup. I just don't think two FT15s + players opinions is enough to earn 6th best in the world.

#33
Rahavic said on November 8, 2013 at 9:58 a.m.

Like how it's all 2013 accomplishments and then for Champ outta nowhere EVO 2012 champion gets listed.

#34
stormblazer said on November 8, 2013 at 9:59 a.m.

Everyone should know who the top 4 players are. You wanted something crazy to be the top 4? Nemo should be top 10 since he beat the top 2 players in the world convincingly in a long set. Not a tournament where its ft 3.

#35
Kinimaster said on November 8, 2013 at 10:01 a.m.

Is it me or Flocker should be Higher than Champ, i think Flocker has beat him 90% of the time?? Plus he had a better year than Fchamp.

#36
BossDynamite said on November 8, 2013 at 10:03 a.m.

Wow, Rubecks/Scrubecks didn't make the top 50, despite his consistency of placing high at tournaments? I like how no Texas Showdown results are listed in the accomplishments of some people. #BiasedMuch

#37
FlexingBum said on November 8, 2013 at 10:05 a.m.

I really dont think Yipes or Neo belong here.

#38

F Champ: 1st at Lanhammer
1st at NW Majors

Yoooooo, those brackets was Stacked!!!!!!!

#39
dorayaki said on November 8, 2013 at 10:08 a.m.

NEMO bodies #1 AND #2 while #4,7, and #10 are all giving advice and support. Collects more money than winning EVO (rumor).
NEMO bodies #5 back to back sets FT15. Runs a close one with #4.

He enters ONE tourney in the US and people base their opinions off of that. Awesome.

I'm not saying he should be higher or lower ranked, because rankings need to based off of something tangible and consistent. However, to complain that NEMO is on the list is completely.... PATRIOTIC. LOL! Go USA....

#40
Rahavic said on November 8, 2013 at 10:10 a.m.

Amen!

#41
Dreamking23 said on November 8, 2013 at 10:13 a.m.

Yeah, and 1st at EVO 2012 / 5th at EVO 2013... Like, no one even competed at those events, right?

#42
Daedae22 said on November 8, 2013 at 10:18 a.m.

What storm Blazer said

#43
xvespax said on November 8, 2013 at 10:20 a.m.

I agree rubeks should've been top 50 atleast...

#44
SnakeX said on November 8, 2013 at 10:27 a.m.

I dig the top 10, it's fairly accurate and well crafted. I may not agree with all of the rankings but I'm definitely not going to come in and trash it just because of some minor differences in opinion.

Also, a lot of people need to take into consideration that tournament results aren't the ONLY thing that matters when trying to determine how good someone is.

In the case of Nemo, he hasn't had the opportunity to play in many US tournies but it's hard to challenge his talent when he was taking top players out left and right in money matches. Not to mention that the man created a killer team and is a technical genius.

#45
SethGravijah said on November 8, 2013 at 10:32 a.m.

I'm surprised not seeing CDV|WhiteBl4ck in this Top50 as he won 2 sets FT3 against the very 1st of the Top50 last time they met (NLBC26)

Not mentionning he made twice top32 (25th and 32th) during the last two EVO, won WGC 2012, was 2nd at WGC2013, won the european qualifier to attend VxG (though they didnot pay him the traveil in the end), made 3rd at the Red Fight Disctrict #2, etc.

Well...

#46
Daedae22 said on November 8, 2013 at 10:32 a.m.

This as well NEMO for EVO 2014!

#47
Gotomaster said on November 8, 2013 at 10:37 a.m.

Sure that #4 through 2 are easily interchangeable, all 3 players are equal in skill level imo. Absolutely right with Chris, that's inrefutable.

#48
Gotomaster said on November 8, 2013 at 10:41 a.m.

Seriously, you people who discredit Champ as a player are just as much idiots as those who discredit ChrisG. Regardless on how you feel about them, they are among the best players in Marvel, you can't take that away from them.

#49
Daedae22 said on November 8, 2013 at 10:44 a.m.

Agreed. Hate em or love em hes a top contender.

#50
LordAkira said on November 8, 2013 at 10:45 a.m.

Props for Champ's Dormammu team, Thank You Eventhubs for the most detailed list ever, For everything that has been shown on Eventhubs, this is the most detailed list you guys have done.

Eventhubs, if you are reading, please do a list for Street Fighter. I GIVE THIS LIST THE 5 STAR APPROVAL. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE EFFORT YOU'VE DONE IN THIS LIST. NOBODY WOULD BE READING THIS WITHOUT YOUR EFFORT. GOOD JOB!

#51
ArturoA9790 said on November 8, 2013 at 10:52 a.m.

I'm pretty sure you have Angelic on here twice. I believe he was also in the the 40-50 or 30-40.

#52
MajinTenshinhan said on November 8, 2013 at 10:53 a.m.

I can assure you he isn't.

#53
JCrest87 said on November 8, 2013 at 10:58 a.m.

Nemo being 6th best is stupid, winning a long set against Chris G and FChamp is a big deal but what else has he really accomplished. I mean in Evo he didnt even make top 25 and he almost lost to Mike Ross lol.

#54
TheLaw said on November 8, 2013 at 11:02 a.m.

So did Yipes...but he ACTUALLY lost. Whats your point here?

#55
Gotomaster said on November 8, 2013 at 11:07 a.m.

Evo is not the best indicator of skill, note, ChrisG lost to Windzero at Evo, does that make Windzero better than Chris, of course not. Nemo's weakness is that he doesn't play well under-pressure, you know like Sako, but when he is in control, he can be quite dominating. He has a stellar record against the top players, that alone justifies his place on the list. Another thing is that he hasn't come to many events outside Japan.

No one questions Sako is among the 5 gods, despite sporadic records in Sf4 history, but is still among the best, simply because he is deadly when under control, maybe even unbeatable. Same applies to Nemo.

#56
Daedae22 said on November 8, 2013 at 11:08 a.m.

Consensus is from lots of top players including FChamp Nemo shoulda been top 8 but got randomed out which is easy to have happen in UMVC3. Also he went on to body all the top players in casuals not just Chris g and fchamp. According to Fchamp he took over 6k from US players that night lol. But I agree none of this equals tourney wins but just wait....hes coming!

#57
Daedae22 said on November 8, 2013 at 11:09 a.m.

This Sako single handedly put Cammy, Ibuki and E Ryu on the map. No one considered these chars good til Sako came along. Sounds alot like Nemo and Strange to me.

#58
BipolarTroll said on November 8, 2013 at 11:12 a.m.

Top 5 is point on. 6-10 can be placed in whatever order. So in conclusion, pretty damn accurate.

#59
Hyoton said on November 8, 2013 at 11:13 a.m.

"Nemo's weakness is that he doesn't play well under-pressure"

And yet he still makes top 6? If we just disregard people's inability to play under pressure, what difference is left between an online warrior vs a player who frequently places at majors. Fact is, Nemo has zero accomplishments other than beating two of the best players in a set (after a long, exhausting tournament might I add).

#60
ShadowGeno said on November 8, 2013 at 11:15 a.m.

Mike Ross is the best.

He´s not on the list because he got banned for getting 1st place for wrestling at CEO by beating EMP|CAGE after poppin´ off when he beat down Yipes at Marvel.

#61
Gotomaster said on November 8, 2013 at 11:15 a.m.

Thank you for bringing that up, makes the parallels between them even more note-worthy.

#62
konachin said on November 8, 2013 at 11:16 a.m.

so the list is based only on american tournaments, not skills, then i can see pr rog higher than nemo, even though nemo raped him 15-6, pr rog wanted a runback and lost again 15-12, plus pr rog plays the scrubiest team in the game, shouldn't even be top 10 if it was based on actual skills.

and if that's how the lists is made, based on american tournaments, it wouldn't be wrong if japan make a list of the best in the world and put nemo, reichanman, kusoru and chou as top 4, since they did better at japanese tournaments.

#63
Gotomaster said on November 8, 2013 at 11:18 a.m.

Well, we will see how he does in Capcom Cup, to see which one of us is correct.

#65
BLACKOS said on November 8, 2013 at 11:21 a.m.

Is it an internationnal top 50? A lot of players in that top never travel through there countries. And, for exemple, CDV WHITE BLACK, travel a lot, and win against chris G at a major in NY and tied top 25 and top 32 to EVO and win a lot of majors in EUROPE but he is not in that top 50. Can you explain the reason why please. If you want, here is the link of his results : http://www.cdvspirit.com/#!team/ci20. It's just to understand if it's a real world top 50 or a USA top 50. But thanks for the work to create this list, it's awesome for the FGC.

#66
Daedae22 said on November 8, 2013 at 11:22 a.m.

I love people who keep saying Nemo only bodied Chris G and Fchamp as if beating the two BEST players is not an accomplishment. Also he bodied everyone that night in casuals according to these two players. Fchamp said "He is easily a top Marvel player". Imo beasting the top players and then the top players saying your a top player kinda makes you a top player. This is a list of the best players not a list of who won the most tourneys.....But hey some dingus on EHUBs must know better lol.

#67
DarkPhoenixRises said on November 8, 2013 at 11:36 a.m.

My only complaint: Why is Dorm listed in F.Champ's main team instead of Phoenix? Dorm is his secondary team and although he was on his final couple of evo matches it was Phoenix who he played amazingly through Evo 2012 pools with...

What kind of flawed Pokemon logics is that?

So if one player has beaten 30 top players, and another player only has beaten 2, the first player can't be above the second player on a list so long as he hasn't beaten him? Ok, whatever you say...

IntuitionImpulse said on November 8, 2013 at 11:50 a.m.

I don't think you read Nemo's entry correctly. He won far more than two money matches at EVO. Also worth noting that he got 14-15 against Justin Wong just before EVO.

Majin, I see why you put Dormammu on FilipinoChamp's team. He got knocked into losers with the Phoenix team at EVO, and won back the tournament with the Dormammu team. Also, his Dormammu team is more popular on the stats page.

The reason Nemo shouldn't be listed as a top 10 is...well tournaments. Say whatever you want about him beating top players but in the end at Evo he lost to Ponce (a player not even listed here), and Paradigm, whos 46 on this. He also almost lost to Mike Ross for anyone who saw that match.

I don't care what MMs you win, that doesn't add up to tournament results, of course that's not what EH voters think, since Fanatiq was also unjustly placed at 17th when he hasn't done anything notable in idek how long. ChrisG is #1 for a reason. TOURNAMENT RESULTS MATTER, and the more recent for those results, the better.

On that note, Flocker should easily be #2.

Only reason Chris is there is because of his cheap ass Morri/Doom.
RayRay ftw

The funny part is that even ChrisG and Sp00ky were laughing at this list. Lmao, too funny. Complete joke

Nemo a bit too high for a non-tournament player, would probably have him 10th. I'd put Flocker 2nd ahead of FChamp but its close. Good list overall.

@irondragon Couldnt agree more, even the list of his "accomplishements" he has incorrect info. He lost his MM to flocker. I chalk it up to people desperate to make MvC3 appear more internationally competative then it really is. The fact that he struggles against people not highly regarded in the MvC scene in the first place shows he struggles in terms of match up and character knowledge, in this case being the lack there of. The man has clear and defined weaknesses. If he lived and practiced in america i'd be more convinced that he belongs on this list as he is definetly strong for an international player, but 6? hell even top 10? Hell no. The guys top 25 easliy but there are people that can peace him out due to his lack of experience.

So get him out to more tournaments here in the US once he gets bopped more then people think he should, he'll slide in the ranks.

Question: Say ChrisG picks up a weekend job (REAL job) and can't attend tourneys as much. But he still maintains his gameplay. Is he worse because he doesn't attend as many tourneys as, say, Yipes?

Now if you don't see the problem with your comment, you're an idiot... and I know you're not an idiot.

@evo546
Thats your source? A guy who runs a blog? People in the actual hotel room watching his mm posted live results on reddit during the matches as they took place. They had him beating Nemo 3-2 then 3-1 in a runback. Course they either of these two different sources could have made a mistake. Point being tournaments should speak more about a players skill in a game overall. Unless you think a person like fanatiq deserves his spot on this list, even though he hasnt touched it in months, but hey he plays money matches and performs well in them right? Where's his top 10 placement? -_-
