Flux achieves a quadruple perfect during The Break #209 Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 grand finals

Posted by Nicholas 'MajinTenshinhan' Taylor • May 30, 2013 at 7:54 a.m. PDT
At the recent tournament The Break #209 which was streamed by 8wayRun, player MH|Flux managed to come from Loser's bracket into grand finals, and while there, do a triple perfect, followed by yet another perfect after a loss.

While not technically a quadruple perfect since they weren't all in a row, that's still an unprecedented four perfects in one grand final. You'll find the entire grand finals below, courtesy of Jason Axelrod. In the set, MH|Flux plays his regular team of Zero, Vergil, Dante while his opponent, Vex, uses Vergil, Wesker, Strider. It seems like a safe bet that Capcom are glad they listened to fans and added the "Perfect" screen into Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Thanks to Jaxel and DevilMaySpy for the news tip.

Welcome to the new world where robots are smaller, faster and powerful. They have feelings and they move like super heroes, actually they are superheroes!

That was godlike and it was pretty awful for Vex, hopefully he will learn how to deal with. Flux is pretty good right now.

I think Vex traded in UMvC3 that day

Lol Vex was pressing buttons at the wrong space and time...Flux was out prioritizing him.

My tip to anyone struggling against Zero is to put them in block stun before attacking or looking for unsafe moves from Zero.

Yeah, preeeeety much.

It really does suck that this ONE character has the capability to do this, on his own. I firmly believe Zero could've done this pretty much by himself.

Congrats on the statistic, can't say the same for the method.

Zero isn't the best character they said, Chris G doesn't lose to Zero at majors or Battle Circuit they said. Zero has never won a major so he can't be the best they said up until a week ago. Zero isn't capable of quadruple perfects.

This isn't a quad perfect, it's only a triple.

But there are four perfects... That... makes it quad...

Yeah, this game is balanced my ass. I've been saying all along: One simple combo-breaker mechanism is what this game has needed from day one!

I know this game is retarded, but I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here.

Guy gets multiple perfects in UMvC3. "This game sucks, f*ck this game."

Guy gets multiple perfects in MvC2. "YEAH NIGGA, HOLD THAT SH*T, AGHH!" everyone gets hype.

Oh and for the record, I still don't think Zero is the best character in the game. I think he's 2nd. Thing is, he's the best point character in the game. When he's 2nd or 3rd, he's kinda meh. Vergil however thrives no matter where you put him.

Yeah, that's pretty pathetic. Disqualifying a guy because he's good. I understand that having 1 touch death combos is demoralizing but it's still "fair."

@32 This is true but you forget, Vergil on point means he has 2 assists. And just by match history, his assists are likely Vajra, EM Disruptor, Samurai Edge, Crystal, or Jam Session. Vergil/Vajra mixups are nasty and if you get knocked down by Vajra, if you High Time, XFactor the character, you can kill him/her and finish meter positive in time to mess up the next 2 characters.

Vergil plus any of the other assists probably means you're dead without XFactor.

lol @ AzureRedemption... that's pathetic. Everyone at your tournament (except the guy that bodied everyone) sounds like a bunch of whiny crybabies.

#40
Jalenp69 said on May 30, 2013 at 3:13 p.m.

Yeah, but that's exactly why I think Vergil is #1 and Zero is #2. You start the game with 1 meter and XFactor. I pop XF on your first character and kill you meter positive and it isn't too hard to kill the next 2 characters after that.

Even then, starting with one meter and having one of those assists, you can kill just about anyone WITHOUT Xfactor. Both Zero and Vergil having 2 good assists, the only thing that differentiates them to me at that point is that Zero's mixups are waaaay better.

But if I'm running Vergil, Wesker, Magneto or Vergil, Dante, Wesker, all I need is that opening 1 bar to kill. Surely Zero is like that too and his mixups are better and he doesn't need to start with a meter, the fact that Vergil can be put anywhere on your team and you'll exhaust every resource you have to kill him makes him #1 in my book. Vergil will be on point and you'll XFactor him, he's anywhere else, you'll snap and XFactor. Zero you might not even Xfactor because behind Zero is probably an anchor Vergil, Magneto, or Strider you're more afraid of.

All in all with that long ass post, Zero imo is undoubtedly the best point character in the game.
