Wow Panzerfaust never had a chance and it is so sad to see that Minette almost made it over a lot of better characters.

People who don't like Minette are gonna be out for her blood over this.

It doesn't make sense the result from the second character if you look at the scores from the first round

Interesting results. Kinda sad to see Panzerfaust was basically always at the edge of top 8 though, lol.

@ 10

Her design is cutesy but her concept art made her seem pretty badass. Plus she's already featured in Story Mode and we were originally told she would be one of the first DLC characters. She's had a MUCH longer time to build a fanbase than most of the characters.

I'm a pretty surprised about Adam being pretty close to the bottom. It seemed like he was pretty popular in the streams since people were going banana's about him

@3: Before the second vote, they said that Beowulf only missed out on Top 4 so presumably people that wanted a male character in (no matter who it is) ended up pooling in their votes with the Beowulf fans.

Other than Minette and Annie, the second vote was pretty different. I really thought Panzer and Dhalia would have been picked/finalists in the second vote

Guess my man Brain Drain never stood a chance. Eliza is a nice consolation though, and Beowulf seems okay too. Just glad it wasnt Minnete or Annie. From the top 4 of round one I was least interested in those two.

I don't think I'll ever get the "Minette Hype". Why do we need another Roll that people who voted for her will never ever play in Tournament, let alone go to one? Hell, the people who voted for Minette would rather go to an Anime Convention than a FGC Major.

The lack of Brain Drain bandwagon makes me sad at life.

99.99% of players of even this game will never go to an "FGC major" and don't care about their results. They might not even know what that is. They probably want a character for reasons such as liking her design or thinking it might be fun to play her. I know these things are alien to someone who exclusively plays fighting games as their job while attending "FGC majors," but since the total number of people on planet Earth who do that number in the low dozens, maybe you'll be able to understand how a general vote wouldn't reflect those interests.

@Desu blade: I've said this once before somewhere on this site, but I'll say it again.

Minnette's fighting style was described as: " Throughout the match she delivers food to passers-by who ride past on bikes, jump down from the sky, pop up from the sewer, or otherwise appear to harass the opponent for Minette’s sake. She can collect her tips with a super, and the more she collects the happier she gets!"

So she has a tip-based level up system. If that does not appeal to you, than I would suggest you get to a hospital, because you need to replace the black lump of hate and sadness you have where your heart is supposed to be.

So glad characters with interesting gameplay ideas edged out little anime girls. Sorry kids but this is a fighting game, game play should always come first before your precious story mode.

@14

There would be a male character even if Beowulf didn't win. Why do people keep forgetting about Big Band? He's a man. Beowulf did not get voted in because he has a penis. He got voted in because people like wrestling and they liked his concepts and character style enough.

@20

It's because a notable chunk of the people voting don't even own the game to begin with and/or are anime-loving weeaboos that only care about the story mode, play the game because of that, and then never touch it again. I'm sure the fact that the game isn't more universally played because it's a fun and creative fighting game must drive Mike Z nuts. Just look at the way he reacted to Aeon garnering so many votes.

@24

Sorry to break it to you, but not everyone wants to play Burger Time in their fighting game.

She is a Cody cosplayer (Could not even give her a different design prison uniform and the shackles too..? that uses corpses (Which btw is incredibly situational in SG since the bodies are always in different positions, look how useful Valentine uses corpses lol..) instead of a knife. She has a few gameplay differences, but nothing "Wow!" compared to alot of the other candidates.

#29

Story mode has always been a priority for Lab Zero. Thats why Umbrella, Marie, and B. Dahlia are the next priority characters. I could care less if the characters are little girls or old men (Why are there no old men characters?), as long as their gameplay is unique/reliable/can be done right then thats what I care about. Boewulf also won the 2nd round unsurprisingly enough when Lab Zero CEO Peter Batholow leaked some vote info on NeoGaf that Beowulf was a few votes away from the final round. This had an obvious effect if you notice the spike of his voters count from round 1 (He was even behind Isaac) to round 2.

#31
Evilisk said on May 23, 2013 at 7:37 p.m.

@29: So what if Big Band is already in? Just because there's one male character already doesn't make people want more male characters any less. Just look at the votes. Compared to the first vote where the males were all clumped together (4-8) they were spread out more evenly (from 1-8). It was also said that Beowulf only just missed out on Top 4 last time after he was eliminated.

I find it incredibly hard to see Beowulf with his fanbase alone beating out both Annie and Minette in the second vote when he got beat by both of them (and just barely by Aeon) in the first vote unless Eliza was somehow soaking up all of his votes.

The only explanation right now seems to be that there were people that really were voting just to get another male in and saw that Beowulf was their best shot at it.

(Also there were idiots over on Tumblr conveniently forgot about Big Band and started to complain about the "purity" of Skullgirls after Beowulf's reveal lol)

Regardless of who picks it up, it brings them money. If it turns out this game appeals more to the noncompetitive folks (I am noncompetitive by nature), then it's in Lab Zero's best interest to bring the series in that direction. It's either that or go out of business.
