Skullgirls team does not expect any future delays on patches for Xbox 360, Wii U version not likely

The Skullgirls team took to Twitter to make sure that fans know they do not expect any future delays when patching the game after the delay on the Slightly Different Edition patch on the Xbox 360.

The Slightly Different Edition patch first hit the PlayStation Store on November 20, 2012 and the Xbox Live Marketplace on May 14, 2013.

Additionally, they noted that a Wii U release is not likely. It is possible, but there will be quite a few factors in determining if it will happen.

Not as free as Wii U.

Outside of handheld, you got plenty of places to get the game.

Forget Wii U, the PC version was "announced" over a year ago. :P

It doesn't have Mario, Link, or Samus in it and it's not stuffed with 30 second waggle minigames, so it's not like it would sell anyway.

Hmm, I thought it wouldn't be that difficult. It is the other major system to not have it besides the 3DS. (Couldn't this have been one of the IndieGoGo stretch goals?)

Any chances of it being on the 3DS, in that case? BlazBlue and Street Fighter 4 both eventually made their way there.

P.S. Let me guess: It's based on the survey results, isn't it? Naturally, if you release a game on certain systems and not others, you will get more people saying that their primary systems is one of the ones you have your game on.

@12 - CSII was ported to 3DS.

Topic as a whole: oh boy, here come the "lol Wii-U" comments... Anyways, would be interesting to see it released there as well in the future if the system picks up more steam. Looking forward to it on Steam for certain though. :-)

Its already happening for PC (Marvelous AQL) and its anything but a waste. Especially during Steam sales via impulse buys or if the SG TF2 hat pre-orders actually happen since Valve finally shown some bit of interest towards Skullgirls. Linux and Mac support also seems likely since they have people willing to make a port.

I think WiiU sales will pick up after E3 and the new games are announced. Apparently the WiiU shop is very good for indies and smaller studios so Maybe Lab Zero will have more luck wiht them than Microsoft

"If sales pick up"? Here's how it can be helped: RELEASE YOUR GAMES ON THE CONSOLE!!!

The eShop on the Wii, 3DS and Wii U are booming, of course, Skullgirls would benefit from that.

Something a lot of you Nintendo fans seem to be missing is the stupid high cost Nintendo charges for dev ktis. That and I'm willing to bet that the Nintendo systems were among the lowest voted for consoles when the poll was ran and the question of "What systems do you own?" was asked.

In regards to how Nintendo handles epurchases, it's is completely f---tarded.
"Lol it's tied to your physical hardware so if it gets stolen or you want to trade it in you're SOL. lol!"

I'm still hoping for that Vita release.Hopefully it will come sooner rather than later or not at all.

Actually, Nintendo's customer service is very good at transferring digital content if you, for any reason, no longer have access to it (provided you've obtained a means to get it back, of course). That's what the unique serial codes are for (and if you live in a high crime area like me, you'd be a fool not to register it in case).

And I reiterate: If a game is released on some systems but not others, you're less likely to get people who have the systems it's not on. The reason, of course, is because people will be interested in a game if it's on a system they have.

If you want a game to succeed, and you're a 3rd-party company, you should try to release it on as many systems as you can. Get yourself as wide an audience as you can. The only logical reason why one wouldn't do so is if they can't afford it.

By the way, the "Wii U" is not spelled with a hyphen. I noticed they spelled it like that on the survey and they spelled it like that here.

NOT including Smash Bros., what kind of idiot wants to play traditional fighting games on a clunky tablet with touch controls. It would never work, not even with the Wii Remote, Nunchuck, or the classic controller-get over it kids.

#26
DragonSally said on May 20, 2013 at 9:15 p.m.

Why not the Classic Controller? It functions just like the Gamecube controller. The PS1 and PS2 controllers had fewer buttons than the Wii Classic Controller, and they could do 2-D traditional fighting games just fine.

The Wii U GamePad, at the very least, paralells the Xbox 360 controller in its button and control stick scheme. The Wii U Pro Controller does too.

I feel like Skullgirls could work fine on the Wii U; Ninty's really helping out the Indie scene lately, the console's gonna pick up in sales come E3, and it's better than a Vita port...
