Who else is tired of Tekken games having the tier placement for characters barely changing between games? The same characters are always at the bottom and top, with the middle getting slightly mixed around. I know canon-wise it makes sense, but it really makes the competitive part boring, there's no evolution. Why try using anyone but a Mishima or Bob if they are just going to be top every game?
@16 thats not true zafina was garbage in t6 but shes alot better now and bruce got better everytime another tekken game comes out
@16 Mostly everything you said is wrong. The tiers change pretty drastically. Mishimas were mid tier in T6, now they're top. Steve/Bryan dropped a lot, and a ton of characters went from bad to good or at least usable. TTT2 is very balanced, there are players using low tier who are considered the best. AO from Japan uses Alisa/Miguel and hes considered top 3 there, and Japan has a huge Tekken scene.
You can pick anyone in the game EXCEPT DR.B and win vs anyone. The competitive aspect doesn't NEED to evolve, because everyone is viable and used (well except Dr.B)
This game is amazing, every character seems good in their own way. I need to get back into it since I've been on SFxT more lately.
Jun should be higher. Her combos never seem to end and theyre annoyingly hard to block.
How good is a character is relative to other characters and not whatever ranking people give him.
I love tekken and all, but this game is far from being balanced. There are characters like bruce, bob, hwo, lei that can win a match with 3 or 4 simple moves. Other characters doesn't even reach half of that damage. I'm not a top player, my highest online rank is pugilist, but even a beginner can recognise them. that's way you see the same characters online. I really never had this problems with tekken before.
@Eye_of_Orochi This is the first tekken game since Tag1 which had all the Mishima's as top tier. And it's only because of one of the most difficult moves in the game. Further, the last game featuring Ogre had him as top tier (Tekken tag1) where as here he is meh. Xiaoyu use to be garbage tier. Zafina use to be unplayable. Marshall use to be a consistent A to top tier character. Hwoarang has never been an A ranked character in recent memory. Julia(JC), Chreddy and Lei have never been so high on the tier list in years. Kuma use to be absolutely bottom, only above Zafina and Miguel in T6. And I don't even remember a time a Jack has been an A rank.
There's some education for ya. I think you look at tier lists and only see Devil Jin and then call it a day, he's the only one who's been a constant top placer. Do you want to know "Why not just stick with Mishima"? That's easy, do you commonly even see Mishima's played in US tournaments in any tekken since Tag1? Nope, because they are too difficult to play on that level compared to most of the cast.
The more you know.
@JIHADJOE Low tier because he's incredibly unsafe.
This is a very reasonable tier list for TTT2. The only surprises to me were: Bob being higher than Nina (who is simply a beast in this game and has probably the most damaging juggle potential) and Bruce (who is also really good at this game); Jinpachi higher than Lee (didn't know Jinpachi was that good. Lee has always been really solid, with his superior poking and corner carry); Asuka higher than Law (not really that surprising given how nerfed he was, but some players put him to such good use that it seems weird that he's so low... and Asuka's standing punish is just plain horrible).

Asukas punishment was buffed a LOT in tag2 tho. 2,3 is 12f instead of 13f, making it a pretty sick punisher due to its crazy reach. Also she now has uf+2 for a beefy 14f punish. Combine that with a standing 15f launcher, and the best 17f punisher in the game shes not looking so bad anymore. Sure her 10f punish is pretty awful, but the rest makes up for that at least somewhat.
Am I assume that Leo is one of the best wall gamers in well, the game? No one disputes Leo's rank in well, any tier list so is it safe to assume I know how to pick'em?
