Evil Geniuses' Justin Wong has once again posted a new blog over on Sega's website detailing his progress with Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. Justin was challenged by Sega to compete in the Sega Cup tournament in April and has been documenting his learning process.During my travels I’ve been entering VF5FS tournaments across the country and it has been a great learning experience. I played in the Winterbrawl tournament two weeks ago and lost to one of the best players in the country, Denkai. I couldn’t get anything started and he killed me, but his awesome use of fuzzy guarding was a good wake up call for what I need to learn to take my game to the next level. I played in Loser’s against a Brad player. I really didn’t know what to expect from Brad but at least I was able to keep it very close. I was very depressed but the VF players on the East Coast told me to keep it up and that they were impressed, which was pretty nice of them.
The week after I went to Wednesday Night Fights hosted by Superdojo and Level Up and entered the local tournament there for VF. I placed 3rd in that tournament and I was pretty happy that I wasn’t the worst player at the tourney. I think I got that far because I fought three Jackys in a row so I knew what to expect, but it was a great learning experience to see what other good players were doing with my character. I hope to enter more VF tournaments before the Sega Cup because I believe that the more experience I get, the better my chances are.

Right on Justin games great and gets even better the more time you put in. Good luck Justin and I hope you do well at every VFFS tournament you enter.
Lol coming from someone with a UMvC3 pic where that game went from 6 buttons in MvC2 to 3 buttons in MvC3. I'm sure he won't drop the game due to amount of buttons the game has if he's still playing UMvC3.

Let's see:
MVC2 has LP, LK, HP, HK, A1. A2
MVC3 has L, M, H, S, A1, A2
Sounds like math isn't your strong point.
@5 The only reason Justin would drop VF is because most sponsors aren't looking for good Virtua Fighter players. He needs to play games, which bring him the most money. Guess what, alot top players hate Umvc3, these include Dieminion, ChrisG, Floe, Marn and Fanatiq. They only play the game because it offers the most money. Unlike you, Justin isn't close-minded, he has played many different fighting games, back when you probably didn't know how to do a fireball. I am confident that if it were up to him, he would probably play Virtua Fighter, more than Marvel 3.
@14 Gotomaster,
to be fair, i'm pretty sure Chris G said his favorite game was marvel at one point, and i wouldn't think many top players who play the game, hate it. some may not enjoy all aspects of it, but it seems most have grown into it.
as for VF, don't even worry about it. i've said this before, but most games will never even come close to reaching the level of prestige and accomplishment VF has, so any comments regarding the status of the game are just silly.
I have to say this since no one has said it yet.
VF is the only game i know that has 3 buttons and is still one of the hardest games to master. the combinations are insane. the gameplay is the fastest 3D fighting game out. being a player that is scared to go online, i had a little scared with the game, but it gave me a feel of " I can do it" it's hard to explain. but this game has a buzz though. i think J. Wong will be playing this game a lot only because he isn't that great at it. so we would love to learn a lot more.
