When Capcom's Yoshinori Ono took the stage at the PlayStation 4 press conference a few weeks back many people thought a new Street Fighter title would be announced, but Ono quickly stomped down that assumption by saying he wasn't there to talk about the franchise he's best known for working on."Of course, the development experience we gain will put us in an even better position to bring our existing series to the console in a way that takes full advantage of its hardware and services."
How much time will pass before Capcom puts the latest iteration of Street Fighter out on a next generation console is up for debate, but it's good to know Ono is still very much aware of the fan demand and expectations surrounding the title.
Let's be honest, SF 5 probably isn't going to be released until around 2016 - 2017, given the PS4 release date and Deep Down's subsequent release.
It's great that Ono san and his team are working on a new game to test the waters with PS4. I have nothing but high expectations for SFV.
Oh and bring DS4 and CVS3 to PS4 first. I think SFV can wait for a few more years.
That's some smart thinking, kinda obvious now that I think of it. Thankfully this means we won't have SFV for quite a while, which is good since SFV as a near launch title may make me really want a PS4 and I want to wait a year or so before getting one.
So...what about that SSF4 update with Q, Ono? ;3
Glad to see he isn't thinking about SFV. We really don't need that game anytime soon. Couple more years.
I won't be purchasing a PS4 until they fix the inevitable kinks *cough* rlod *cough* and the price drops. I bought two fat PS3s and they both got the rlod. Finally got a slim about a year ago. I won't be making the same mistake with the PS4.
wow, people just don't learn, do they...
A new Street Fighter could happen until 2019. 10 years later than the currently multi-updated installment. Ono as well as Sven said that before all these unfounded rumours and announcement opportunities. The sooner people can bury that thing in their brains, the sooner people will accept what happened and stop asking for it.
street fighter just give up you letting namco take the upper hand by possibly releasing tekken x street fighter on the ps4
well #23 namco never failed on a tekken game since ive played it im sure it wont be a recap of tekken tag 2
BumbleBeeCody> exactly
H_Mangus> yes SSF4AE or an kind of update to SF4 is highly requested right now
Thinking TEKKEN X Street Fighter will be on the PS4 ^_^ I can't wait!!
Sure, they can look better(see PC)
But truly current consoles(360) are more than enough to power 2d fighters.
PS3 has some slowdown spots(which is why tourneys should use 360), but that can be worked around and they still look great.
Sony isn't giving me any incentive to upgrade. If I can't use my PS3 games or accessories, I'm not investing in a new system that will cost double, just to restart my collection of games. I don't care about this new Capcom game, either, so I'll just stick with PS3 until it's completely obsolete.
Anyone hoping for Tekken X Street Fighter for PS4... Don't expect TXSF to appear as a PS4 game, Because Harada has said that TXSF will be release on current consoles which is PS3 & Xbox 360. Besides theres still NO Word on Tekken X Street Fighter anyway.
All I know is people had better buy these new consoles (PS4 or XBox) or phones and tablets are going to take over completely.
None of this "I'll buy it three years later" crap.
Enough with the penny pinching.
Ask mommy for it for Christmas, or get a job, or start saving now. But we need to support the console market.
#33 No one's gonna jump on board to buy a new console at launch when the present consoles all have great games being developed for them. And Tablets/phones will never replace the console market. If you're immensely die hard and/or have extra money lying around and unorganized priorities, then good; go support a new system at launch instead of waiting for the price to drop (as well as the inevitable technical issues to be corrected). For many of us, "mommy" stopped buying us games in high school and we have other things (like bills and food and travel) to concern ourselves with.

Thank you for being the one filter in this thread.
@35
Lol, I'm a big boy with my own House/Cars/Family. Bills and all buddy. My priorities are well in order and I will be buying one at launch.
And I guess you haven't read many business reports? Take a peek at the massive bite phones have taken from tradition hand held devices and consoles. And WiiU is suffering badly.
We "hardcore" are a dying breed. We need to support our market.
i agree with BumblebeeCody we don't need another street fighter game yet im still enjoying the AE ,sfxt, and tekken tag 2 at the moment, what we well i need is to hear more about tekken x sf development that's the game that is getting me hype right now.
#36 There's a difference in being hardcore and being a drone; with the constant errors the consumer had to face thanks to publishers and developers (did you forget the initial problems both the 360 and PS3 had?), we now know it's better to wait.
The WiiU is suffering because, like I already mentioned concerning newly launched consoles, it's technical errors; as well as its lackluster launch line up. Other than the Nintendo-developed games, much of the launch titles were/are already available for the 360 and PS3 with no difference in gameplay or graphics. It essentially provides what the PS3 & 360 have been providing for years + Nintendo developed IPs like Mario and Zelda. Everyone has either a 360 or PS3; what is the WiiU contributing to the hardcore crowd that the other big two aren't already?
@39
I didn't suggest being a drone. Always make educated purchases.
Case in point, I didn't buy WiiU. Nor do I plan to.
Years ago my kids all enjoyed Wii and GameBoys. Now that tech may as well be paperweights compared to iPhone5, iPad retina, iPod5 (all present tech in my home).
The only console gamer left is me on my PS3. Ironically.
So, I'm just saying we (the hardcore gamer) will be the ones that make sure home consoles thrive. The PS4 is already looking to hit a $400.00 price point, most likely at a loss. A very competitive price IMO.
They're tying to compete for our business. Hopefully people will find value in what they show and support them early on.
Btw, my launch PS3 ran for 6+ years before breaking down. One of the best purchases I had ever made. Same for my PS2.
Now my PS1, lol I burnt up three of them:(
Unless something surprises me enough to open my wallet,PS3 is gonna be my last console.
I'm already 32 and by the time they work out the kinks in the new breed consoles and roll out with new fighting stuff,I'll be too old to dedicate to gaming.
But Ono is doing the right move. They don't want to run franchises into the ground.Let SNK and Namco spearhead the new generation.....
@18 No I mean the RLOD. My PS3s got the RLOD. The light wasn't yellow, it was straight up red. Both times. Completely dead systems.
#41 yeah my launch PS2 and Dreamcast (as well as my Wii, PsOne and 64) were both launches and they still run like new (i have an excellent fighting game collection between the Dreamcast and PS2). My 360 died after a year or so and then my new PS3 died not even a year later (and I didn't even clock in very many hours on either console).
The defects we faced this gen can't and won't be overlooked. I will eventually get a new console when certain games come out that I really want (like the next SSB and Zelda); the PS4 reveal did not coerce me into anything; nothing new, just better graphics (this gen faced better graphics but awful games). On top of the internal issues with the consoles, games just don't justify the purchase (especially a launch purchase) in this day & age.
I guess we each have our own POV. I really enjoyed a ton of games in this gen. And the most obvious achievement (pun intended) was bringing full online community gaming home!
And while nearly nothing can surpass past generations of memories (Mario, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy or Zelda etc. etc. etc.)
Playing Street Fighter against people Country/World Wide ranks amongst my personal best gaming moments of all time.
I loved this Gen, couldn't be more pumped to support the Next Gen. And SF5 eventually.
25 doesn't realize that the only why Tekken doesn't do bad is because it never really changes. They may (MAY) add a mechanic here or there, but for the past 6+ entries in the series, they haven't done any major changes to their system, not even once. Street Fighter's always got some major changes going on from one game to the next, which gives them a higher chance of being bad, but keeps them fresh and innovative.

@44 I'm really competitive when it comes to fighting games.I pride myself in giving out a great challenge to my opponents and to myself.
Right now,it'll be close to 3 straight months of no UMVC3.I feel that even novice players would roll over me and that's frustrates me.
If I don't have time now, imagine 3 or more years down the line. The beginning of the end right here....
My PS3 is now a glorified BD player and streaming service appliance.V_V
@Aluppoj
Aside from the obvious first party support down the line, there isn't really any reason to get a PS3 on launch. The event actually put me off getting one. Plus being told that PS3 games/DLC/DLCGames/accessories/controllers won't work for it means I'll have to keep my PS3 plugged in. Even though I mainly play on Xbox, I still have a library and content on the PS3 that I would like to transfer over.
Sony have done this before with the PSP. UMDs(because we knew that format was gonna last) and then they screwed the PSP owners with the PSP Go.
That's what I love about Nintendo, backwards compatibility. Even the Xbox 360 had this.
Sounds pretty smart really. I am excited to see the next gen of fighters but not so much that I cant enjoy what's out currently til they come out. Also with the re-releases capcoms been doing it has been a blast to play old games again with me current understanding. Looking forward to DSR this coming Tuesday to play some lovable monsters and get bodied online. Since no one at my arcade ever played it because other games were taking their quarters any.
I remember how so many people played Unreal Tournament 2004 for years declaring it to be the best thing ever, but were also desperate for UT3. And then it came out and it was trash in comparison and no one played it, although the graphics were better. If SF5 came out now it might be just like that.
