A new trailer for the Vita version of Team Ninja's Dead or Alive 5+ was released today, to hype up the game's March 22, 2013 release date. There's also a free demo coming shortly after that time, and one of the more notable things is that you to use the crossplay option with PS3 users, so if this is something you want to try out before deciding to buy the game, you can.

The trailer also shows a good bit of the game's touch play options, including the new frame data options and other bells and whistles Team Ninja added to this version.

The Vita release will also come with new cheerleader costumes, which you can check out below. Hit the jump to see more images and read the press release.

Team NINJA today unveiled new details about its upcoming DEAD OR ALIVE® 5 PLUS for PlayStation®Vita, including the exciting news that a comprehensive demo will be available shortly after the game launches on March 22nd. With its extensive range of features for up close and personal Touch Fights, training features, and stellar graphics, DEAD OR ALIVE 5 PLUS is looking to set the new benchmark for handheld combat.

The DEAD OR ALIVE 5 PLUS demo is packed with features including Cross-Play battles with current DOA5 PlayStation 3 players, the ability to transfer progress from the demo to the full game, and a whopping eight stages of combat action. Players can experience new single-player modes such as Touch Fight while fighting as Kasumi, Hayabusa, Eliot, or Tina against any computer opponents to sample the rich variety of characters and fighting styles. Just as in the full game, costumes unlocked during the normal course of gameplay can also be unlocked in the demo. Additionally, save data from the demo can be transferred to the full game so players can continue fighting right where they left off. Available stages in the demo include Scramble, The Show, The Tiger Show, Coming Soon, Zack Island, Dead or Alive, Arrival, and Dojo. Each stage features its own unique blend of fun and challenging interactive elements for players to discover. Specific information regarding the timing of the demo will be made available soon.

Other nuggets of information confirmed today include the following:

• The unprecedented amount of move detail available in DEAD OR ALIVE 5 PLUS will allow players to break down the results of each attack in real time. Move details show the damage output, effects, and other info to give an instant, detailed analysis of each move to allow players to increase their skills.

• In DEAD OR ALIVE 5 PLUS players will for the first time be able to set background music for each character to set the proper tone for each fight. All characters, including new DOA5 characters Rig and Mila, have their own selectable theme music.

• Players can replay scenes from Story mode at any time in the game’s movie theater to revisit their favorite moments or watch the story play out all at once after it is unlocked.

• The first-person perspective Touch Fights can be played with downloadable costumes. The close-up view and variety of character reactions available in this mode make it the ideal way to check out favorite costumes.

• New Tutorial and Combo Challenge modes provide the ideal opportunity to hone the combat skills necessary to come out on top in any situation. This makes DEAD OR ALIVE 5 PLUS not only the ideal game for serious fighters but for novice players as well.

Published by TECMO KOEI, DEAD OR ALIVE 5 PLUS brings the signature DOA fighting style to PS Vita with all-new system-specific features complementing the stunning graphics and new martial arts techniques of the recent console release. Players will take on the roles of the cast of DOA fighters in an action-packed brawler set in visually striking international locales, with each stage featuring interactive backdrops. With a sensual yet realistic style, characters are rendered in incredibly lifelike detail.

I hope more games start including cross play. It's a great feature.

Got it pre order, even getting bonus that involve DLC Cheerleader outfits.

@1 There might be a very good chance that certain future games will have cross play.

cross play is the way of the future for these multiplayers. SFxT has it, PSA has it, the new Smash Bros will have it, and now DoA. If anything, this release is a good thing because it comes as another step in the right direction: users worldwide making a huge ground for everyone to come and be part of it regardless of the console they have (up to an extent of course).

I wouldn't get a Vita for this game (hell, I wouldn't get a Vita at all currently), but glad to see the response for it hasn't been bad.

@2 and 3

Since PS3 can, and has done cross play with Vita, as well as PC isn't it possible for an FG on all 3 platforms to have a lobby with players on all 3 platforms? Skullgirls for VITA!

Sounds great, here hoping for custom soundtracks and combo challenge to be added to PS3/360 versions.

Character theme is back? They better give that to the console version as a update/patch or DLC.

Some of these feature would be great to add on to the home version of the game.

I'm surprised they put that Hayate, Kasumi, Ayane scene in the trailer... The story is very Hayashi-fied (see Ninja Gaiden 3), but still retains all the humor from past DOA games.

All of Mila's scenes are just cute.
