Yesterday we posted a new Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012 PC mod from Error1 that pits Rolento from Street Fighter X Tekken into the game.
Bawbuhe: Rolento in AE! Make it happen Ono :)
Ono: OK, I'll tell it to SF's R&D team! ;D
Matthewcrowe666: What do you think of this?
Ono: Wow its same order... OK I'll tell it to team. :D
Munkeytron: Have you seen this ONO??
Ono: Wow!! its so quick!! ;P

now if only people were more enthused to have Oro in the game..
His normals would be soo freekn OP lol,needs to look into EX more also,those characters were so "different"
now, even a guy that doesnt know much like me knows that porting rolento to sf4 is no easy or cheap task, fine they have the model and animations but they have to spend alot of time tweaking the moveset, hitbox and frames without making him OP or making him suck. now after that they have to run extensive testing of all the changes made to be sure there is no bug or glitch that will result, then they have to translate it to a patch for xbox ps3 and pc and pay up for the patch. now they have to makes sure there is compatibility withing the consoles and also the arcade versions. trust me its a whole lot of work than just making it work on one console
Like I said in the other thread, this situation is beneficial for all parties. The mod shows Capcom doesn't have to put forth much technical effort, and they can still gain a significant profit by distrubuting the SF X T exclusive characters at $5 a pop.
@1 and 12
SF4 is still top dog by a mile, until a new SF game on next gen thats where it will stay...
I really hate Rolento and SFxT made me hate him more. Please consider mods but not him.
jab > jab > c.MK > Stupid spinning stick move (x3).
NO!
Don't really care for Rolento as a new update would be more enticing to me.
To this day SSF4 is Capcom best fighting game if they add more characters and stages it will sell well.
I would also like to see oro if they add characters, he has a really unique play style and could actually fit sf4's system
@13
You realize that just because some guy that is familiar with the SF4 engine did this in his spare time does not automatically mean that it won't cost Capcom money to port the characters right? For starters, they have have to PAY their employees to do so. And those employees would need to be moved back from whatever projects they're currently working on to work on this. So you're asking that a company stall it's current projects and shuffle its employees around in order to retread on past projects for "$5 a pop". Seriously, it's never ever that simple.
Should Capcom decide to go back and create another patch and/or add more characters, it's not because they think it'll be easy to do. It'll be because they think the time and money invested in doing so would be worthwhile. You have to stop thinking like a fan and think like a business when it comes to stuff like this.
Besides it's unlikely we'll ever see Rolento, Hugo, Poison, or Elena officially in SF4 because Capcom would be cannibalizing their games even more than they already are by reducing the differentiation between the rosters further. If new characters were to be added, it would be in their best interests to add characters not in SFxT. They've got plenty to choose from.
I agreed with the "move on" statement because of pure selfishness. Personally, I get bored of a game after a year, if not earlier, even if I LOVE it. Not because of the mechanics, but because of the superficial aspects; music, stages, character looks, etc. But that's just me.
That's why I need to change my room, buy new clothes often, listen to a song not more than once per week or I'll start hating it. The same goes with relationships. The most I can stand a guy is one year, unless the sex is amazing. lol
ANYWAYS... Point is, I HATE living in the past. Move forward, gurl! ;D
@26
....I love rolento honestly. Characters that are lame and can just poke at and annoy the opponent are my thing (I love dhalsim also). It is a different playstyle that is completely legitimate and should be supported more. When I beat people with dhalsim in AE 2012 there are still people who cry, and he is horribad now, people just need to stop being babies, lame is in there
Rolento is a cool badass dude sorry that he is to mandly for you people who like anime characters guys that dresses like woman like Blaze Blue or Persona cast lol
and calling Q, Rolento and Urien lame is incredibly biased, a lot of the community would disagree whole heartedly. Personally I liked the 3's cast more than any other street fighter cast :/
Who the heck are these people who thinks Alex and Abel are the same characters when the he'll did they have the same moves
@3 you forgot that everyone (just about) in SF3 had EX supers. So people like oro, whose EX specials were pretty useful won't translate so good.
How can you throw the sun down with Oro if you only got one super bar? How can you do anti air aegis reflect with only one super bar.
It's clearly not as easy as copying and pasting Rolento's folder into some other character's folder in AE, and it would take time and money to get him to fit into the game properly, not including changing hitboxes, move properties, giving him a super/ultra 2, balancing him (he'd be hard to balance due to his unique movement) etc. Then there are the other 3 characters too.
Still, I'd like to see Ono give us a title update for AE since it's still really popular and SFV shouldn't be for at least 2-3 more years. Remember Capcom, I'll pay Big money for Q, aka the best character evar (even if he's @ss).
If Rolento is in SFxT I feel it kinda obvious he won't make the cut in the remote case a (highly unlikely IMO) update is made to this game. It shows however that the game is programmed in a flexible enough way to make some PC mods with new characters if the scene puts enough time into it, which is always a good thing.
@28
You have no idea what you're talking about. First of all, you completely misinterpreted my post. Nowhere did I say it would be FREE for Capcom to port these characters, however, most of the work is done. Obviously, you have to spend money to make money. Look up 'cost benefit analysis' before you try to argue business.
Secondly, you contridict yourself by saying they should add characters not in SFXT after claiming it wouldn't be beneficial to halt other projects for a much simpler transfer. Do you not realize it will cost more money and man hours to make characters from scratch than porting already compatible ones?
Wow... so much hatred for so little...
I'd rather see Rolento, Elena, Poison and Hugo in SSF4AE than in Super Gem Fighter x Tekken. Seriously, an update to SSF4AE would actually be beneficial to the game. Why? Because it's still popular and people would play it more. SFxT, however? Many, MANY gamers would like Capcom to drop it and move on. Many gamers hate that game for the graphics, gameplay and worthless gimmicks like Pandora and the gems.
So yeah, quit complaining and start crossing your fingers for an update to SSF4AE already. I'm telling you, NOBODY will complain about it... unless they were expecting DS4, but still...
And while I'm at it - People are calling Capcom lazy for re-using models in SFxT which make up less than 50% of the cast, but are fine with almost 80% of KoF XIII's sprites are from XII? They're fine with it when Arc System does it in Blazblue?
While we're at it, on disc DLC is bad unless Namco, SNK or ArcSystemWorks does it.
Stop acting like entitled hypocrites and listen to your damn selves.
for gods sake, rolento was literally one of the only characters i hoped to not be in sf4 and now they went and had to do this
I agree with some of you guys they should add characters like alex oro n all of the fan favorites but for all the haters sayin "i dont like rolento " shut up i dont play with him but hes still a good character even if u dont like him and if anything this mod should be an eye opener to ono n the street fighter team now this probably has them thinking
@56 - Except KOF and Blaz's sprites look amazing, and SF4's models are ugly.
@SnakeX - I agree with you completely, but this part in particular:
"Besides it's unlikely we'll ever see Rolento, Hugo, Poison, or Elena officially in SF4 because Capcom would be cannibalizing their games even more than they already are by reducing the differentiation between the rosters further. If new characters were to be added, it would be in their best interests to add characters not in SFxT. They've got plenty to choose from."
YES, EXACTLY. Want new characters? Awesome, but can we please get different characters? There are tons to choose from, if that is a thing that apparently HAS to happen.
Ono will troll you until your head falls off.
and then smile and troll you some more.
Not that there is anything wrong with that!
:P
Id rather play Rolento(and most other charaters) in SFXT anyway.
Honestly about SSFIVAE having more characters is NOTHING BUT A CHILDISH DREAM! Look I enjoy the SF series myself, but honestly does SSFIVAE really need more characters and is there any purpose besides a person's own interest. I belive that SSFIVAE no longer serves purpose, because its outdated and come on theres gotta be new games to get interest once in awhile.
I think when comes to characters it really shouldn't be about fan request, it should be about story because a story in every game serves a purpose of why the character exist or why you see a character died. Every creator should really decide what character should be in the game and have to write a story that serves the reason that the character is in the game. Plus having characters in videogames is not about fun and games, like the other people said "money is the reason that characters are being created because it involes programming, creating the gameplay features, and creating balance. Business is the reality of videogames, money management is important other wise the company will go bankrupt and seeing the game series you love or care about may no longer exist."
Plus fighter games aren't being treated properly by the console marketing which both Sony's Playstation systems, Microsoft's Xbox systems, and Nintendo's consoles are nothing, compare to arcades. These consoles bring nothing but unbalancement to the fighting games, because of timed release dates and having to left out certain content that was suppose to be in the game but got scrapped due to lack of time. Gaming conventions do nothing to improve to fighting games, because not everyone can get their hands on it and there are things that not getting fully tested out. Having Betas in certain games and Arcades is the idea of what makes fighting games really good and even improves certain things even get rid of the worst bugs or glitches. Another thing that would unbalance fighter games WORST besides the console marketing, is the fanboys that wants everything. Fanboys intend to ask for a character and doesn't look at details of what it takes to even have the character in the first place, plus these fanboys do nothing but trolls, just a lifeless basher that bashes other games, and is nothing but a child despite what age. Fanboys knows nothing about the gaming business, knows nothing about going beyond normal to make games different in their own right, and all they do is make fighter games stale like shooters.
This generation of videogaming is unbalance and arcades are disappearing (excluding Japan), the way of true way of video games is falling apart. Plus the gamers themselves are nothing but a group of people that don't try new things in certain games, perfer to play a COD THE FIGHTER GAME, and wants a game with no challenge at all.
The true way of a real gamer is something that only exist from the 80s to the 2000s is accept the game for what it is, love the game that you actually care about, and not ask for more. I belive its better to leave SSFIVAE the way it is, while SFXT gets a few balance adjustment or focus on a game that can see the results of how to improve from previous titles.
You guys don't know what you're asking for. Rolento will be Nightmare Tier in AE 2013 LOL. He will be able to convert every hit into a hard knockdown into possibly the best vortex/unblockables in the game.
You will kill AE by bringing Rolento in.
btw Infiltration already plays Rolento in SFxT.
Do you really want to do this to yourselves? haha
@56 "And while I'm at it - People are calling Capcom lazy for re-using models in SFxT which make up less than 50% of the cast, but are fine with almost 80% of KoF XIII's sprites are from XII? They're fine with it when Arc System does it in Blazblue?"
KOF13 just added more characters from the lackluster KOF12, just like BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma is adding more characters from Continuum Shift Extend, and they even tweaked some of the sprites. This isn't laziness. It's just continuity. Sequels will reuse characters, especially in sprite games where they can't afford to change everything without a itch.
Capcom used the SF4 models because they used the same engine, not major visual change required.
However, if you want a real example of Capcom laziness, try Capcom vs SNK 2; they sprited ALL the SNK cast... but only sprited Ryu, Ken, M. Bison, Eagle, Maki and Kyosuke... and took the Alpha 3 sprites for the rest of the SF characters and the DS3 sprite for Morrigan.
Did people forget that for Capcom to release new characters for ssf4, they have to do it for playstation, xbox, pc and arcade. Then, there is this thing about disc releases.
It may cost Capcom a lot more money than people seem to think, but let us consider the idea that they have already been working on an update, which isn't that unlikely. Then it doesn't seem so ridiculous
@29 You probably date a ton of douchbags, and that's if you're even telling the truth. You come off as a douche yourself actually. I've always hated dating girls like you. Your type of girl makes me thankful I'm with my gf.
yoitssfxtbaby> exactly, I just want another upgrade to SF4 and I seriously want Alex from SF3 in it period. Either do an upgrade to SF4 with Alex from SF3 and new characters or leave the game alone
Lol @ these idiots whining about Rolento. A character that people have been ASKING FOR since vanilla SF4 came to consoles, and now they're scared at the idea of Ono getting him in somehow. I swear, the FGC acronym should stand for "Feeble Gimp Community."
Even in SFxT 2013, a game with simple combos and loads of juggling possibilities, Rolento's been reduced to a low-tier. WTF makes you think he's gonna break AE? He has no better chance at doing that than breaking CvS2.
Second, SF5 isn't gonna come around till midway through the next-gen cycle. Why NOT make another SF4 update with more characters?
You do realize the game has a menu that lets you pick which version you want to play, don't you? If you want to stick with AE 2012 as it is now, just stop bitching and keep playing it. A new update is not going to affect you.
Dragonite> well said, save SF5 for PS4 and let's just have another update to SF4 with more characters
Chunners> exactly, I am so interested to see that Alex model myself they have been hiding too
So, how are they going to update the arcade cabinets?
Add in 30+ more characters to the update and I'll be happy. hahaha...
" don't update AE the balance is fine (for my character)and there's already too many matchups for my poor little brain to handle..waaaaaah"
Let me ask you a question: Are you one of the top 50 tournament players in the world and do you attend majors frequently?
If the answer is yes, then I accept your point about extra matchups. However, I think you need to suck it up and accept that its for the greater good that this game gets an update while we await a sf5. Is 4-8 new characters really going to blow your mind?? come on..
Despite the fact this game is relatively well balanced it could still be improved unquestionably and most people are very familiar with the areas that need tuning.
To those that don't fall under the bracket of competitive player(I'm not considering online ranking points here-not that they aren't a sign of a strong player , it's not the same as placing at top tournaments)- stop taking the game so seriously-what's at stake for you??pride/ego?- If an update were to happen the game would be more fun and I would hope that capcom buffs some of the lower tiers and tries to equilbrate the field as best as possible.
@91
I'm very sure that the majority of players in Japan, where Capcom is based, would want any new characters to be in the arcade version too.
A better question if people asking for these updates care about anyone but themselves?
@ truegamingguru
There is so much hypocrisy in your post that I find it difficult to know where to start.Does this make sense to you when you read it back:
"Look I enjoy the SF series myself, but honestly does SSFIVAE really need more characters and is there any purpose besides a person's own interest. I belive that SSFIVAE no longer serves purpose, because its outdated and come on theres gotta be new games to get interest once in awhile."
Who the hell are you to make such bold statements as ae no longer serves purpose.
Completely disagree with,
"This generation of videogaming is unbalance and arcades are disappearing (excluding Japan), the way of true way of video games is falling apart"
If anything I am far more immersed in the FGC scene than ever thanks to online/streaming/zero!! arcades in my area.
I understand that english may not be your first language but your post was painful to read and I do not think unbalancement is a word as far as I know. I think you may be looking for imbalance.
Just for the record: I love Sf4AE2012 and will continue to play it with/without an update. An update isn't essential but I find it annoying when people try to use the argument: it's the most balanced sf4 version and why would you upset that? Well actually it isn't as well balanced as these people would have you believe. You think Yang and Akuma are comparable?
@Kuiper_felt and other idiots
You do not need to be a t50 player in order to play a game seriously. There are countless locals around the world and 20k+ fans that watch major streams every event. The problem is that if I get online, go to a major, or even a local I will undoubtedly run into players that have no idea how to play their character, or approach their matchup. They drop combos, do not know their tech, and frankly do not care.
With 49 characters, capcom would have to maintain the balance of over 1000 matchups. Does this sound even possible? Is there a player alive willing to learn 48 matchups?
As it stands there are really two problems with the game:
1.It is a little vortex heavy
2.There are still some really difficult matchups to overcome
The first could be solved by an update true, but would it be worth sacrificing the entire balance of the game and end up with another yun fighter 4 or sagat fighter 4 with no subsequent update in sight?
The second can be solved by players truly learning a second character that rivals their main in experience and talent.
So now people change the subject and say, well who cares about balance and players overall skill level. I just want to have fun and more characters can make me have more fun.
For me personally, a more competitive and skillful match is far more rewarding and fun. The majority of players that say, "I want more characters, will play their character for 2 weeks to a month experience the same results and then drop the game. This is a fact, an experience I have re-lived countless times.
(Though there is that one oni player that comes into your local stubbornly and loses over and over again getting more and more depressed until he gets sleepy and leaves.)
If one is bored with the game, truly bored even though there is so much more to experience and learn with the game I don’t think a few more characters will change that. They probably do not actually like game fighting games and just want to fool around with some new images, animations, and gimmicks to waste a few moments of their boredom.
You may be find a new experience worthwhile, if they create a game that is new, with new characters, and experience. Though you claim to be bored with the current "lazy cast" you will continue to vote for ryu, ken, akuma, to be in the game overwhelmingly. Capcom will not have a new engine so they will put out a similar game with a few new systems and mechanics that will likely not work well and will need a massive update. Many of you will beg for more more more characters and capcom will create some, or borrow some from another company as you beg for a collaboration. These characters since there are so many will feel awkward and rushed. Oh whoops this already happened.
Arcade Edition's biggest draw is that, at the moment, it is the most strategic and balanced of the fighters. People that play it for the most part admire skill (watch streams) and want to be better...just don't care enough to try even the slightest bit to get better. Is it worth sacrificing the balance of the game, overall skill level of its players just to attract some lazy fraudulent street fighter fans to "dust off their old sticks"?
The answer is a huge f*ck no.
There are currently 39 characters and none of them are considered broken, this has only happened in one other iteration of the game: the chun/honda dominated version of super. What threw that balance out of whack...oh yea an update who wulda thunk it. There is not a single character in this version that is not viable in some way despite the overwheliming odds.
